IMAX 3

I am considering getting IMAX 3, but I can't view the clip on the website! I'm not sure why, but anyway...

Can anyone tell me what it is like? What sorts of moves are there, etc. I have heard it is really hard/intense. I have IMAX 2 and I like it okay.

TIA!

Hi Katie -

Imax 3 is pretty challenging. The choreography isn't that hard, and you'll be able to pick it up pretty fast. But there are lots of very high impact moves. For instance, one of the blasts has us doing jumping jacks on and off the step! You work up to it, first jumping down - pause - up - pause, but at the end you do regular old jacks!

Another blast has us jump the length of the step (on the floor), then sideways, turn, ricochet, tuck jump, .... or something like that. And you keep going around the step. It's a lot of fun, but pretty darned tough.

In general, the blasts are harder than Imax 2, and the step portions are a bit easier, to make up the difference. But the recovery sections are shorter.

I don't like the music as well as Imax 2, but it does sort of grow on you. Good luck!

I don't like Imax 3 only because it is WAY too high impact for me--I have really bad knees (Cathe's kicked the crap out of me!!) I enjoy the music though and as silly as it sounds, I really love their outfits in this one!!

I love IMAX 3. It's my favorite IMAX and one of my top 5 favorite Cathe workouts. Here are what the blasts are:

1 - Stradde taps, jumps on board
2 - Jump on step, turning squats, plyos
3 - Starbursts, plunge lunge
4 - Jumps forward, side, turn, tuck, richochet, jacks
5 - Plie jacks (my favorite but a lot of everybody's least favorite)
6 - Wide lunges from step
7 - Jumps on/off step
8 - Plyo, air jack, tuck, turning plyos
9 - Go across step, abduction and extension repeaters
10 - Jump wide on step, jump together, jump off and jump wide, wide squat jumps, airborne jumps.

Blasts 1, 4 and 7 are the hardest for me with blast 8 a close second. The recovery times in IMAX 3 are less than the other two. The choreography is also more complex. When there's a harder blast coming up, the step portion is easier (like in blast 5) and when the blasts are a little easier, the step is a little more intense. This one is really high impact, so be prepared.

I think I am different from most people. I LOVE this workout especially the blast only premix. Yeah, it has a lot of high intensity moves, but once you know them and expect them, this workout is awesome! I like to combine it with either Drill Max + BM2 power circuits (no weights) or Kick Max blast challenge premix. If you are a person who likes high intensity, this is for you. If you don't, you should consider something less high impact.

My two cents...

Just wanted to clarify that high intensity is not the same as high impact. They're completely different. I can not do Imax 3 because of the impact, not the intensity.

Hi Marcy,

I agree that Intervals 1 and 7 are the hardest of IMAX 3.

I think Intervals 9 and 10 are the easiest.

I know this is a reaalllyyyyy old post, but I just wanted to say that I started the warm-up this morning, and after about 3 minutes i turned it off and put in MIC and just did the step portion. My body was telling me "nooo waay jose...not today"
