*~*~*~* I'm MELTING on Friday *~*~*~*

Hello again. I ended up taking a nap while Ewan napped this afternoon. Though, as it turns out, he didn't actually nap at all, I don't think. He just played quietly in his room. Miracle that I got a nap even when he didn't. I was so tired from the pain meds that I was able to sleep in spite of still hurting. Of course it didn't hurt while I slept, so that was good. Then I felt a little better when got up. It's starting to be a big bother again, but I think that's because I'm due for another dose soon.

I'm still waiting for DH to get home but I'm preheating the oven to make a frozen pizza. The good news (I guess) is I can't have any of it in my current state. I'm bound to lose some more weight now. I'm wondering what to do with all my Myoplex Lite & Special K protein bars now that I probably can't eat them with braces. Anyone want them? Think that's something I can mail? I've got a bunch left.

Shelley, seems like I read over on the OAL that Aunt Flow is still kicking your butt--hope you feel better soon.

Leanne, girl, don't you get obsessive with those numbers! I'm sure you look great. I keep thinking about getting one of those scales that measures body fat, but haven't done it yet. I can't believe your BIL will be there so long. What a bummer! No, they aren't invisible braces, they are fully metal. I couldn't get the really invisible Invisalign things (whatever they are) because my problem is too severe. They also have some with teeth-colored brackets, but I chose not to go with those since the treatment time can take longer and since I generally smile with a fairly closed mouth anyway.

I just stuck the pizza in the oven and managed to remember to take the cardboard off the bottom of it--have a bad habit of cooking frozen pizzas along with their cardboard.

Shannon, I hope your calf cooperates with today's workout.

Kara, glad to hear you might get to see Colin a bit!

Tneah, I sometimes forget about Supersets and Push Pull even though I like them well enough. I'll have to bring them out and use them again soon. Oh, and that sounds like something my DH would say, though my DH would be worse. He says stuff like "That skirt makes your butt look big". I used to be upset a lot about stuff he says and now I get a little upset but not too bad. I figure at least he appreciates that it's the effect of the skirt and doesn't just say "your butt is big". Of course, it probably is a little big....

Kristi, I've never ordered from totalfitness.com, though I have ordered from one called www.justaboutfitness.com and got good service from them. I actually prefer to order from http://www.advancedworkouts.com if I'm not ordering directly from an instructor. She now has free shipping if you spend just $20 and she has excellent customer service. I also order from Collage sometimes. I don't think there's any downside to ordering from Jen at Advanced Workouts since she has a guarantee and will accept even opened DVDs returned.

OK, going to go figure out what mushy stuff I'll be having for dinner while they're having pizza....

And shut up about the yummy and decadent, Leanne. ;)

Hey girls!

Checking in late. I finished work at 1, then ran to get groceries, came home, put them away, ran to pick Sophie up, stopped to pick up a few more things they didn't have at my regular store, came home, did Sophie's closet switcheroo (man, does that girl have a LOT of clothes), made dinner, went outside and raked up about a bazillion maple keys (and that's only part of the yard), had a slight mental breakdown and stood crying over my rake, chatted with Chris some, came in the house and here I am!

Now, let me try to remember what people said.

Tneah - you are NOT a clodhopper. You should have taken off one of your shoes and smacked DH with it. You know, when Chris and I were first seeing each other, he told me that if I EVER said "do these pants make me look fat?", he would reply with "oh honey, it's NOT the pants". Needless to say, I never ask him things like that:p

Leanne - I still can't get over the 3-4 months, but I guess I can understand your DH's thinking. Still, I wish it wasn't at the expense of your peace and relaxation. Did you find something to wear to the wedding?

Kara - Governor's School sounds really cool! How is Emma adjusting to Colin being away? Yes, I'll be redoing the bathroom. At our old house, we completely renovated the basement. It was quite fun. Sometimes working for a builder has its perks, as I get a lot of things free, or cheap. Right now I have a $2000 custom bathroom vanity sitting in my garage because it was ordered for our model suite and the big boss woman decided she didn't like it. So I got it for nothing. The bathroom will be planned around that. But first, we have to redo the basement bathroom so we'll have some place to shower when we redo the main bathroom. Make sense? Re. the backsplash, could you do one row of nice tile all around to cover the unpainted drywall?

Kristi - I'm trying to cover my ears on the kettlebell thing too. I have a ton of workouts that I haven't done and I need to get to those before I start ordering more things! Did you order STS?

Lainie - I hope you get used to those braces quickly. I know Emily recently had braces. I'll see if I can drag her in here to give you some advice and encouragement! Maybe you could put the pizza in the blender? ;)

Well, something I'm eating is making me incredibly bloated and gassy. I have no idea what it is, so I guess I better start eliminating. Pretty soon I'm going to be down to be able to drink water and that's it!

I've written a novel here. I'll shut up now.

Shelley,
You maniac woman! You are the busiest person I have ever seen in my life! Sheesh. LOL, that is exactly what I should have done, smacked DH over the head with my fabulous shoe!(hug)) I know how those breakdowns go, I am glad you talked with Chris, it sounds like he really is a fantastic guy. I remember your purple toilet! heehee

I had my own little breakdown today. Yesterday I saw a dove swimming in the pool..I thought, oh how sweet, it's cooling off because it is so hot. So I mentioned it to DH and he said birds do not swim like that. I was like, no, I saw him swimming and now he's flown off...When he got home and cleaned out the basket that catches all the crap, there was the bird.:-( I could have saved him yesterday when I saw him "swimming" and taken him to the vet, but I stupidly thought he was just having a dip.:-( Whaaaa....I swear the only animals I cannot stand are of the rodent/reptile variety, every other mammal, fish, etc...love, love, love...shoulda been a zoo keeper or something. I actually did volunteer at the zoo when we lived in Utah...uh yeah, now I think I might be talking to myself...signing off for now.

Hey --

Kara -- Colin's experience sounds so interesting! That is so cute that you have that picture of Emma when she was little. I totally understand how those pics of them little remind us of how darling and sweet they are at their core!

Tneah -- Tim Gunn was PRECIOUS! He signed my book and told me that my DD was darling; and he had his picture made with her and told her that she had a cute mom. I would also love to have him go through my closet with me. Did you watch his show on Bravo -- "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style"? He said that it will be back, but they will no longer insist on seeing the people's underwear drawer. I sympathize with you and Kara both for having to deal with your car/boat registrations today! I think those are the most inefficient places -- that and the place where you get your driver's license renewed!!! Not that I think there is any danger of this, but may I cast a very loud vote against high waisted mom jeans! Ewww!!!
I'm sorry about the bird -- you have such a tender heart!

For dinner, we had our tried and true running fuel/carbo load meal. I realize all that's wrong with it, but it works very well for us. We ate it before every race in a series of races we did in 2001-02 that culminated in the local marathon. A large serving of pasta (the white kind -- whole wheat, IMO, does NOT enhance a long run), jarred pasta sauce (simple, basic, not greasy or fatty), steamed broccoli, and french bread (again, white -- extra fiber is not my goal when I'm running for 2 hours). We don't eat that way if we aren't running a long way the next morning, but, as I said, it works well for us. Later we'll have some Gooey Butter Cake that DD made for DH's birthday. It is Paula Deen's recipe and delicious! I won't feel too bad about it because we will burn lots of calories tomorrow. The plan is to run 12 miles, bike 21, swim 1500 yds., and do 200 pushups & 200 crunches. We won't lift any weights, and we won't do all of that on Sunday -- probably just the run and bike. I'm really glad that this challenge will be over on the 17th because the training is wearing a little thin. I want to have fun in my workouts. The up side, though, is that I can pretty much eat whatever I want on the weekends when we're training that hard.

Leanne -- Get the Tim Gunn book -- it's cute and has a lot of good tips in it. I'm going to order STS soon -- probably in the next week or so. The elliptical motor has to be ordered, but the guy thinks it'll be here early next week. Btw, I quickly glanced at Kettlebells when I was at Academy today buying a weight plate rack for Todd's birthday. Are your protein pancakes something you make or buy? What's in them?

Lainie -- Your nap sounds great, and I'm glad it helped you feel better for a little while. How long will you have braces? I say don't get a scale that measures body fat -- I really don't like mine. I don't think it could possibly be right, and if it is, it's demoralizing -- I only feel good about it if I program it to think I'm a man. It also fluctuates in a way that makes no sense every day! Don't do it if you can stand not to. Thanks for the online video tips. I started my search last night at advancedworkouts.com, but it didn't seem to have the dance workout DVDs that I want to order to do with my girls. I really don't remember how I stumbled into totalfitnessdvds.com, but I got good feedback about it on the OD. I hope you had something yummy-ish for dinner.

Shelley -- Wow! You had a busy day! It sounds like you got a lot done. I'm sorry about your breakdown, and I hope you are feeling better now! Let's keep each other strong on the kettlebells! I haven't ordered STS yet because I want to get a few workouts that my DDs will be able to do and will enjoy doing this summer. Basically I'll do my "real" workout then I'll do whatever they want to do -- like I did Basic Step with DD today.

Do y'all know if Dom from Boot Camp is Jai's husband? I noticed today that they have the same last name.

I'm sorry this is so long!!! I probably won't be back tonight, and I don't know when I'll check in tomorrow with all the training we have to do.:) I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

Tneah - Awwwwww, I'm just the same as you. I would be devastated to find a bird in the pool filter too! It's never too late to hit DH with your shoe and say "there... that's for your earlier comment about my shoes!"

Kristi - holy WOW, I'm in awe over your planned day tomorrow. Sending lots of strong vibes your way! My days are all like that. I cram lots in. And yes, Dom from Bootcamp is Jai's DH:)
