I'm kinda surprised

How difficult it is to take a rest-week. I'm soo in the habit of getting out of bed and immediately putting my workout clothes on. The first thought that popped into my head when I woke up was which workout to do. And I fhad this big time urge to cheat on my rest-week and workout despite my body being sore from the Body Combat DOMS and the past 2-3 months of really intense workouts - often 2x' per day!! :eek:Sooo, my OCD rearing it's ugly head!!

I resisted, however.

Anybody else had a tough time taking a much needed break?

Yep. Sometimes I just forget. It happened earlier this week and I forgot I had run the day before and by the time I was half way through my workout I realized that my butt hurt cause I did that hill yesterday.:D:p

Um,yes.....

This was my "rest" week following Meso 1 of STS and I've only rested "slightly" meaning I've given up a couple double workouts (I do twice daily workouts every day, yep, heard that one right ;)) and exchanged a few morning runs for something else but I'm still working out, just not as hard. I don't think I'll ever take an active rest of doing nothing "by choice"---I don't think it is in my nature! :D

I was wondering how your "rest" was coming. It is sooo hard. I wasn't going to do anything Friday or today and I ended up doing PH and Hiit30/30 yesterday, then BC today! Wow, I need help bigtime! Ok, Monday is coming up so maybe so maybe we can be "rest buddies" this week. Thanks for posting!

Hi Sherry,

Let's defintely be 'rest buddies' next week. I know that I've managed to fake my way through a rest today by doing about a zillion other "not-fitness workouts". I'm pretty much as tired today as I am after one or two hard workouts!! Ugh!! :p:rolleyes::eek:

Okay, rest-buddy! Let's cheer each other on!! :D

Happy Satruday!

My biggest problem with rest weeks is getting out of the habit of getting up early! I'm not a morning person, but I work out at 5 a.m. I don't like doing nothing because I feel like I'm gaining weight rapidly through the week, so I will get up and do some of Cathe's less intense, older step workouts or a 30 minute cardio routine to keep going and take maybe only 2 days of complete rest.

I'm like the rest of you - I have to keep moving!

I find that I simply cannot make myself take a rest week unless I'm out of town. Even then I cheat and run at least once or twice!

Good luck!

I almost never take a rest week, but instead take rest days. One or two days here and there, it seems like enough to keep my body happy!

I have never even ATTEMPTED taking a rest week for any reason other then sickness! Even when I go out of town on vacation or whatever I make sure to do SOME KIND of work out!!! I KNOW I couldn't do it. I will take the prescribed RECOVERY WEEKS in STS and took them while doing the X and INSANITY but not full REST. No way. I would go bananas!
