I'd suggest apples over the sauce.Oh I totally forgot about applesauce! Thanks! Those sound like great snacks.
Another snack suggestion would be homemade hummus (reduce the amount of tahini, and don't add any other oil to make a lower calorie version) with different veggies (celery, carrots, zucchini, cucumbers, red peppers--basically any high-water-content veggie).
