I agree that it's a PITA to answer the same question for the Nth time

So don't answer it, you guys! Like Moni Stout said, NO ONE here is a Cathe.com employee. If you don't want to answer the question....DON'T!

I agree that there are only so many times you can reply to the "What is Cardio Coach" question. So I bypass that post and let someone else answer it. There are always other enthusiastic forum members to reply to posts that you don't feel like answering.

Cardio Coach, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.:D:D:D One million times!!! LOL

Do you know how many Cardio Coach threads I have completely ignored for two years? I'm not kidding. Completely ignored.
I didn't think I would like the techno music. OMG, my son hates that music! Poor kid created my CC files for me anyway.

It was the who is hotter? thread that got me going. Anyone who looks as yummy as Coach Sean can whisper in my ear;) (Please don't tell my hubby:eek:)!

One of the things I have always enjoyed about the cathe forums is the fact that I do not feel afraid to ask questions. Some other sites I visit seem to attack people or make them feel unwelcome to ask questions. No one on this site is a cathe.com employee that is required and expected to answer questions. I think that if you feel the question is repetitive then and it is annoying you, move on and don't answer it. There are plenty of other people that will. The nature of a public forum is that there will always be new people joining with new questions that have been asked before. Perhaps cathe could create a section for veteran forum members who want to only discuss new and never before asked questions.

Monica

Me too! I have been on a couple forums where they make it clear that they don't want "newbies" asking questions that may have been asked before. They may not know at the time they asked that there is a search function. I guess they will now, which is a good thing!

I have lurked here for a long time and just started posting before the transition. I didn't have a lot of posts so didn't bother trying to get my "old" name back. Am I the only one who has noticed the marked coolness in some posts/threads? I think we must all be stressed and not generating enough exercise endorphins:D!

I actually don't mind seeing the same topics discussed (Cardio Coach being one that comes to mind) because I seem to learn something new each time. In fact, it took me reading several CC threads before I finally took the plunge and bought one...or two...or FIVE!!!

At the risk of sounding like a b**ch, the original posting, sorry Amyg, really rubbed me the wrong way (maybe its a mood thing). If you dont want to answer, move on, but let people ask whatever they want.

You don't want to know.Nope..... He's taken. You can't have him. I'm not sharing;)

Umm Cynthia...I think he is mine. He whispers in my ear all the time, tells me he'll see me in the workout...

Don't you dare burst my bubble and tell me he says that to all the girls:D.

OK that was just uncalled for. There's nothing mean or nasty in Amy's post. Frankly I thought she was being more helpful than critical & I'm a bit surprised at the reactions. Why is everyone so defensive these days?

Part of the appeal and fun of the boards is the dialogue, I'm sure by now, there really are not so many new questions to ask. I agree with previous posters, as new members join, you learn new things each time a subject comes up, even if it is repetitive.

I really don't believe the intention was meant to be negative, but questions and posts should be encouraged, to keep this board alive and active.

Because I want to help, and I have info that would be useful.

Answering questions shouldn't be a PITA. If it is Kathryn, you need to stop. Someone will be there to answer it in your place.
This should be an enjoyable place for old and new members.

Fitness and nutrition has been a very long journey for me. One thing I know for certain, there is not one person who has all the answers.
I've had to ask a lot of questions, and then sift through all the information to find what works for me. I am thankful for all the wonderful people who have helped me along my journey. It is a never ending journey and I hope I'm never discouraged from asking questions.

I completely agree with this. Kathryn, I'm not trying to pick on you, but although you at times provide useful information, I have often been offended by and felt bad for the recipients of your posts that "redirect" people to the appropriate forum. That can really be done through PM so as not to embarrass the poster.
I also agree that the original post was uncalled for (although I don't think it was intended to be mean-spirited, I just don't see how it's helpful or necessary in any way). My opinion is that if a person is spending so much time here that she is noticing repetitious questions to the point that she is annoyed, then she may want to consider spending less time here. I also see no problem with NOT searching, for the reasons several others have posted.

I see nothing about the post you quoted that was uncalled for, so I guess we all see things differently. It would have been different had she called the OP a bitch, but she said that by speaking her mind, she's (gaijin) risking being called a bitch. Or did I not read that correctly?

Well, where I come from hospitality can pretty much be expected but it doesn't give one the right to act a fool. Some mommas haven't been teaching some manners ;)

I just want you all to know that I am happy to take any and all questions pertaining to Cardio Coach, even if I've answered it a million times before. I'm also willing to read any and all comments pertaining to CC, and if you've got pictures PLEASE post them so we can all drool over them. And if you've taken his spin class please do tell all. :D

I think what's uncalled for is saying a post "rubbed her the wrong way." Isn't that exactly what others who are annoyed by repetitive posts are being criticized for? If yes, then should she (and everyone else who's offended by the OP) practice what you're preaching--just ignore it & move on? After all, the OP was just speaking her mind as well.............

I am usually one that stays out of these kinds of posts but here goes. I wasn't really offended by the OP but I feel like she was speaking for all of us not just for herself. It also seemed like she was speaking for Cathe as some people were confused by that. It would appear to perhaps a newbie that this was some kind of policy on these forums, which as we know it is not. I don't think the poster was mean spirted in any way but the intent (to me) seemed more as a collective thought than an individual one.

There are apparently many people who have no problems seeing and/or answering repetitive posts on certain issues. If you have a problem with it, then don't post. It's as simple as that. We live in country that allows these freedoms.

I'm stepping down from my soapbox now.

Does cathe.com has a TOS (Terms of Service) somewhere? I can't find it anywhere. It usually states the rules of conduct etc... I belong to a few forums that are so strict, they will boot you just for starting another thread on the same subject as a different thread. I can see how they got to that point now. Here is just a piece of their TOS:

"Please be courteous and considerate in your public posts and use good internet etiquette when posting. Members who misuse the forums may be removed or have their posting privileges temporarily suspended. This includes, but is not limited to avoiding the following:
  • Flooding the board with new posts
  • Starting multiple topics inappropriately
  • Writing posts in all caps (considered 'shouting')
  • Starting a new topic vs. replying to a thread where appropriate (keep all relevant posts in the original thread -- multiple threads on the same topic confuse members -- especially important for medical threads)
  • Posting extremely long passages without breaking the text into paragraphs to improve readability
  • Failing to use appropriate capitalization at the beginning of sentences and for "I" when you are referring to yourself.
You show consideration for the members of the board by creating readable posts when you use standard capitalization and punctuation and avoiding 'chatspeak'. Should you have any questions, check out The Internet Writing Guide.
Readability is important to us. Expect you may be encouraged to improve your writing habits and expect that your posting privileges may be curtailed if you do not. While none of us are perfect and typos and misspellings may occur, we feel posters should make an effort to write readable posts. Latitude is shown members for whom English is not a first language."

And you think being asked to do a search on common topics is rough. ;)
