If you won the lotto

Buy a 100 acre farm, a small house on the beach, and land in Montana and a train to be a pilot and fly myself between homes. But wait, I'll only get less than 10 mil after taxes, so maybe just a farm and grow my own food, have horses, and travel to see the world.

Or go to school to become a lawyer and only take pro-bono cases where people just need defending against bad people that need to have their pants sued off.

Move, by a used Volvo dark blue convertiable, put my children in private school, pay off bills and have my own workout space.

First I would take at least 2 million to start a foundation that bought musical instruments for underprivileged children and helped keep music programs alive and well in schools. After that, I would buy each of our brothers and sisters a new car and finally, I would MOVE to a state that has little or NO SNOW.

I would also travel to Italy, France, Spain, and New Zealand. In between travels, I would volunteer wherever I thought I could help make a difference.

Maybe I would move to that no-snow state first and then do the other stuff....

Wow, let's see . . .

1. Pay off bills.
2. Buy a real house and outfit my gym space.
3. Put in wind and solar power to run my house.
4. Buy a trimaran.
5. Give each of my family members a good chunk of cash to do with as they please.
6. Travel.
7. Go back to school.

And, yes, I'd keep working just so I could annoy the crap out of everyone!

pay off my house, bills, maybe get another car, and get the best care i could for my autistic child and put the rest away for her future. maybe i would update some of those green features like solar panels(can you believe how much they cost!!!!?????) and things like that. 20 mill could get me far but i would be happy with half a mill LOL. would love to just pay off my home and car

Ahh, . . the if I were a millionare question.

1. Buy a mini van
2. Buy a home dream home on the California Coast with a small farm and acarage for horses, a cow, sheep, chickens, and a small vinyard
3. Donate money to ASPCA
4. Donate money to my community church
5. Take the kids to Hawaii
6. Have my own craft room, and workout room

20 milliion! Yippee! LOL!
I assume 50% or more of that would go for taxes, but after taxes, I would :
Talk to a financial adviser to set up a savings and investment plan and a budget.

Pay off my house and have it fixed up to sell.

Pay off my debts.

Have an eco house built in some very vegan-friendly, warmer climate. It would include a large workout room, and a large, enclosed "cat room" (I'd adopt a few more cats).

Donate some chunks of money to worthy organizations.

Travel everywhere I've wanted to visit, but so far haven't.

Spend a minimum of 3 months out of the year in a French-speaking area.

Though most big payouts don't come all at once, so I'd have to keep to my budget!

I would still work, but since it wouldn't be to make a living, it would be something I want to do, and it wouldn't matter if the pay wasn't a lot.

I would buy a huge land, hire a lot of vets, technicians, dog trainers etc., and took in all the dogs and cats that are not wanted. Train them so they could be adoptable, but if not they could live there forever. Also, give money to all sort of animal rescues all over he world. To bad I don't pay the lottery. Maybe I should.

I have thought about this more times than I care to admit. Here is my partial list:

1. Donate 10% to Catholic Charities in Dover, Delaware
2. Get a GOOD investment person so that I don't have to work doing anything I don't want to do.
3. Put aside money for DS and DD college education.
4. Pay off bills
5. Rent out current home; buy a home in Charleston, SC (old world charm but with modern amenities)
6. Furnish said house with pieces that fit the era of the home; except my workout room. That will be kitted out with a new treadmill, eliptical, spinning bike, flat screen TV mounted on the wall, DVD cabinet, and enough room to put a step in the middle and turn around it in all directions!
7. Donate money to local animal shelters
8. Work at animal shelter for the rest of my life!

You can move here. We only get snow every ten years or so for a few weeks. Oh, btw, here is northern CA. Its nice. Plenty of room in the rural areas and plenty of other peeps in the cities like SF.

I hope you get it. I have a sibling on the spectrum who is extremely high functioning but at least he has me. :D In a way that means he won the lottery!

That is a wonderful idea.

I like that idea!

Move back to Italy and I wouldn't tell anyone there about my winnings. I'd move to a small town in Tuscany where many of my friends now live.

your hearts fondest wish

I want to buy Robert Frost's woods in Maine. I want to get an eco-friendly home close to Santa Fe that is basically off the grid in most ways including energy, water, and grow a garden in a green house that I could control the temp on. I love plants. I love flowers. I would keep a butterfly friendly garden. I want a tower with a tremendous amount of light for an arts/craft area. Of course I would have a state of the art gym! I would paint and sell my paintings online. I would have at least one cat of my own (indoor) a rescue preferably. I would have a fabulous kitchen, I do love to cook. I would like to learn how to fly. I would like to learn how to ride horses.

My hearts fondest wish would be to participate in the documentation of soon to be extinct languages. I am an audio engineer and I have the equipment to do so, I just don't really have the time. The anthropologists at UC Davis are working on that, I wish I could help out.

I would set aside a trust for my brother, our friends nephews/nieces (he died of bone cancer in 2001 on Good Friday.) and my parents. I want them all to have enough so that they can go to university without worry. I want my parents to retire comfortably.

Give back to the Lutheran Schools/Churches in the area so that they may continue to teach The Word of God on a daily basis.

Pay off debt . . Pay for sons college - grad school and all.

Buy a cabin for my DH on the au Sable River in Michigan and buy a home in the Virgin islands for the winter.

And bank it . . .
