"If you go out in low rise, flare leg jeans

LauraMax

Cathlete
you'll look like an idiot."

This is a direct quote from Fashion Industry magazine. In other words, unless you're wearing skinny jeans you look completely out of style.

I can't say why this irritated me so much, other than the fact that I have yet to see a woman who looks good in skinny jeans. There is not a body type in the world they flatter. I mean, I have not a curve on my entire body (other than the hook at the end of my nose LOL) and they look like crap on me!

So, here's a quote for the fashion industry: "EVERYONE looks like an idiot in skinny jeans." }(

RE:

You know, I think half of these fashion mags don't know what they are talking about. I see many fashion ads and think "I wouldn't be caught dead in that". I don't see anything wrong with that style jean. I think if you blink too long you've missed a fashion trend according to most of these people. Phhhhhbt I say.

I look like I have frog legs in skinny jeans (think Barishnokoff in tights).. if you have any muscle at all you can't wear them. You look ridiculous .. I know I do at least .. I wore them back in the 80's along w/the horrid leggins {{ shutter }} .. I was really thin then and still looked ridiculous.

IA Lauramax .. no one looks good in skinny jeans .. well . . maybe Cameron Diaz .. but she is one of very few ..

I think unless you are below the age of 11 you won't look good in skinny jeans ...

I too say .. "ppppppfffffft to the fashion industry"x(

RE:

There's no way in hell I'm wearing skinny jeans, so I guess I'm a complete moron in my low rise, flared/bootleg jeans. *sigh*

RE:

I hate skinny jeans, they look aweful on me. The only I see they work is on models with the right blouses, other than that I don't see how they can make on look better, I will stick to my flared jeans and remain out of fashion LOL

RE:

The "fashion experts" on Oprah were hunting down women in straight legs jeans (which I condsider offspring of the skinny jean) and telling them how horrible they made them look. I guess skinny jeans must be on the menu this upcoming fall. I will opt for the idiot look and cling to my bootleg and slightly flared pants.

RE:

Funny. I just threw out my last pair o'skinny jeans as I much prefer the low rise. Then again, I don't really give a rat's behind what some fashion designer dreams up while on the toilet. I wear what I like and that's that. To hell with skinny jeans, Bon Jovi, big hair, and all that crap.

RE:

IMHO, bookleg low rise jeans are the most flattering jean to come along! They really compliment a woman's figure. The skinny jeans look ridiculous!

Remember how popular ponchos were going to be? That died down in a hurry. At least where I live!

RE:

Hey there

Well, over here in the UK we're being told that the skinny jean is over and that flares are back - bigtime!

Kate Moss (famous skinny model type for those of you who don't know) has been spotted in flares so that means that we should all wear flares now ... She first appeared in skinnies a couple of years ago and started that one off.

so wear whatever you want! You could always say you're ahead of the curve and are following the trends from the UK!!!!

Ronne;)

RE:

Unless you're a 6 ft tall, super-skinny model, skinny jeans are not going to be flattering IMO. The closest I'll get to skinny leg is boot cut. (For those of you over age 40, do you remember the horrible pleated jeans that tapered to your ankles in the 80s??? Now those were the absolutely worst... and yet, I'm sure, the fashion magazines at the time were touting them)

<<For those of you over age 40, do you remember the horrible pleated jeans that tapered to your ankles in the 80s???>>

I'm under 40, but having been a teen in the 80's I owned several pairs of those. They WERE the worst...and they had to be worn with a very baggy blouse!

RE:

I read somewhere that skinny jeans were piling up in stores and that low rise flares/bootcuts were flying off the shelves. Maybe that quote is a desperate plea from the fashion industry to move some merchandise...

RE:

I was at Old Navy yesterday, and the majority of pants on clearance were skinny legs. I should have tried one for a good laugh! I'll bet I'd need a 16 to get them over my lower half!

RE:

I am and always will be a flare leg/wide leg jean girl--so there!
Skinny jeans are horrific, just horrific. The hell with the industry, I think what is always in style is what looks good on you!:7

RE:

Ok ladies I started another thread to find out what brand of low rise flare jeans you wear. Oprah had on 2 "fashion gurus" on her show today and they said no one should wear skinny jeans but you should wear flare jeans. So what brand do you prefer?

Thanks
Lisa
