I want to wear a bikini ...darn it!!!

How horrible!!!! Elizabeth Hurley irritates me anyway. I heard on the radio that she was quoted as saying about Marilyn Monroe, "I would die if I were as fat as her."

Elizbeth Hurley (I've never even heard of her) -- who's she? Somebody who in 30 years nobody will remember.

Marilyn Monroe is a legend and had a tendency to put on weight when she overdrank, but was never fat -- she in fact lifted weights and worked out -- at her death she weighed 116 pounds. She did not lead the healthiest lifestyle, but she was never FAT!

I recently attended an exhibit of clothing and jewelry of the Hollywood Stars of the Golden Age. There were several of Marilyn's items there.

There was a hot pink cocktail dress that was part of Marilyn's trousseau (sp?) when she married Joe DiMaggio. She was NOT fat -- she stood 5'5" and her contemporary size would be about a 6 to 8 -- although the dress was sized at 12, but this was in 1954.

I am so sick of the image that Hollywood is pontificating that emaciated is beautiful! It is NOT. I saw an article where Christina Ricci was complaining about her weight and she wears a Size 0??????

Give me a break! Having ribs taken out, liposuction, and inducing labor to hold yourself up to some "standard" that is unattainable????

The singer James Taylor's wife died at age 48 because she decided to "have the works" lipo, facelift, tummy tuck, etc. She DIED of massive fluid loss.

The part about prematurely inducing labor for vanity really has me torqued up! It's one thing to deface yourself, but to not even consider the life within yourself? How selfish!

She's Hugh Grant's old girlfriend.

She's been in a few movies. One called "Serving Sara" which I didn't care to see because she was in it.

Here's a link to her picture:

Marilyn Monroe was 1000x's more beautiful!!! She was gorgeous!!

Thanks for the link. I'd never seen her -- but I am not much of a modern day celebrity follower (But I love the Golden Age of Hollywood).

Hurley is pretty, but no Marilyn Monroe. And her bikini photo isn't that spectacular -- she's actually not much thinner in a bikini than Marilyn Monroe was a few weeks before her untimely death. Marilyn did a photo shoot where she wore a bikini. There isn't much difference in their bodies -- Hurley looks a little longer waisted. Marilyn was far more beautiful than Elizabeth Hurley.

Marilyn had this luminosity about her that Hurley does not have. Hurley is a cookie cutter Victoria's Secret type....

I doubt she will be remembered as a legend, but then as I said, I do not follow modern day film stars too closely.

She was also in Austin Powers 2 and Bedazzled with Brendan Fraser (shameless Brendan Fraser plug ;) ) She's also somewhat famous/infamous for not wearing a bra, not exercising and putting up with that twit, Hugh Grant ;) Oh, and for being the face of Estee Lauder as well as being horribly treated by some rich, unpleasant bloke by the name of Steve Bing. She can act but mostly she's hired just to be "Liz Hurley." She's said some daft things in her time but she always seemd to be an intelligent woman. I do agree, Marilyn Monroe had more class and was more woman than any of the women that were quoted as having been induced to preserve their "perfect" abs.

That is awful about the women inducing labor! I've read that doctors do it more and more often (and how it's not exactly the best thing for babies - unless seriously medically necessary) and sometimes just to fit their 'golf schedule'. How terrible. :p

The other day, I watched the DVD "The Truth About Charlie," which is a remake of "Charade," which was also on the DVD and which I watched as well. I was thinking something very similar to this when I saw the difference between the two movies. The updated version has supposedly "beautiful" and "hunky" stars, but they have very little charisma. The original version has Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn who have TONS more charisma than the new stars. (And the dialogue in the original version was much wittier...maybe because the classic stars could carry it off well).

I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE! To Lisa and Everybody!

OMG! Not James Taylor -- it was the wife of the soul singer James Brown!

The "I Feel Good" Singer!

I made a HUGE mistake -- I do not know why I even wrote "James Taylor" -- but I am a fan of both of them.

Again, it was James Brown's wife, NOT James Taylor's.

Lord, I am really, truly losing my braincells....I guess I need to oxygenate more with Cathe's cardio!
