I Survived Bodymax

It wasn't as hard as I expected! For some reason, I was really anxious about trying it, but aside from the length, I think Bootcamp is harder. Cathe sure is the Energizer Bunny in this one! No breaks whatsoever -- just power, power, power! She really encourages you to get some height in the power moves and I found that I really tried harder when she did. Because of the speed, I was glad the choreography was kept simple. The only things I did differently were I did abs first (I always do) and pushups before the other chest work because I'm a pushup-weenie.

It's been fun for me to try all of these older workouts I've read so much about. I've thought many times, "so that's where that move originated." Two of the power circuit cardios were almost identical to a couple of Imax 2 blasts except a bit easier. (I must confess I was glad there were no genie hops after the add-on hops around the world.)

Like Cathe, I used 25#s for barbell leg work but I felt like I could go higher next time. As usual, I went lighter than she does for shoulders, triceps and chest, but matched her for biceps and back.

I felt thoroughly worked out afterward, which is what I like so much about Bootcamp. Overall, a winner I will alternate with BC and SJP for my cardio/weights day.

Isn't that the best feeling to make it through a video that you thought for sure would be very hard to make it through.
I used to have this one, and would like to have it again. But for a while there I just wasnt' into it, so I traded it. I knew I was going to regret it. Oh well.
I do remember doing to entire thing and thinking, "That is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life." I would always end up breaking it up into sections of cardio, and then another day weights. I just wasn't fit enough for it I guess. Now my curiousity is up there as to whether I could do it all the way or not. Huh.
Congratulations!

WAY TO GO SUSAN!!!

Bodymax is tough and you should feel proud of yourself. I really miss that workout....I borrowed my tape out to a few people and when I finally got it back , it wouldn't work anymorex(
I'm slowly switching my older tapes to DVD anyway so this is next on my list.

I did all of Body Max this week too! I think Body Max is tougher than most of her workouts because the bpm during the step are so high, the intensity is really up there with the circuits, and then just when you think you’re getting a break – she goes and starts the upper body. And that push up section always gets me, not to mention the crazy 8’s during the biceps. I love it, but I'll admit it, I don’t reach for it very often.

Congratulations! It's ironic that you posted this, because I've recently been doing Boot Camp, which I had avoided for a long time because it intimidated me (I now find it tough, but doable), and was trying to decide whether to do it or Body Max (which I've never done) this weekend. I think it will wind up being a time issue with me.

By the way, I love it at the end of Boot Camp, when Cathe says, "now don't you feel so accomplished?" I say, yes, I do!

Thanks, everyone! It is now Saturday and I am definitely feeling a bit more fatigued than usual. I know it's because of Body Max. I did the KPC cardio conditioning premix plus Pilates this morning and didn't feel as strong as usual. I'm going to try to make myself do Body Max once/week for 4 wks to see how it improves my endurance. Anybody want to try it with me?

Hi Susan-

Great Job in getting through Body Max!!! I was wondering how you did with it!

Let us know how you do with it when you put it into your rotation. I just have to believe you will see some big time endurance gains.

As much as I enjoyed Cardio & Weights and Step, Jump and Pump, I would really like to see a Body Max II.

Jane....that is a great idea! BodyMaxII with maybe a Pyramid style weight lifting segment. That would be quite a workout....I did Bodymax the other day..just the cardio and circuit segment, not the upper body workout. I forgot how much I liked this one...:)...Carole

I'll try Body Max once a week this month with you. I planned on doing slow & heavy every week and would like to work out each body part twice. Adding a full body workout like Body Max will allow me to do that and give me time to get some cardio in as well.

Great, Dawn! I'll post after I've done it and you do the same, okay? (I'll be doing my second one this Friday, after my rest day:) .)

I'll post after I do it too. It will probably be on Sunday morning while the kids are sleeping in so I dont get any interruptions.
