golf game today! I've only had 2 lessons so far and my DH took me out with a friend to a course and we played 9 holes! :D And, no, I didn't hit anybody or any cars with any wild slices! ;) I feel like I accomplished something today!

I was terrified about going not having any experience, but it was fun - hot :( , slow (took us about 2.5 - 3 hours) , we're all pretty new at this, but I actually felt good about it! Can't wait to see how I do when I finish my lessons!

Good for you and welcome to my addiction ;)

That is awesome you felt comfortable after 2 lessons. And pushing a bag full of clubs up and down hills for 18 holes can burn 1200 calories.

Good luck with it.

Thanks! I couldn't believe the calorie burn all the sites showed I would burn! AND, I carried my bag, AND it was REALLY hot today! The important thing? I had so much fun!

Very cool! Isn't golfing fun?! Since you're taking lessons you will do GREAT - no bad habits for you to break ;)

"FORE!!!!"

Tricia, congratulations! I've been toying with the idea of taking up golf for a long time and your recommendation is pushing me closer.

BTW, what IS the calorie burn for golf? That would be an extra incentive definitely...

Hi Diane!

Thanks! For 9 holes carrying my clubs, cal burn was between 600-700! I'll have to wear my HRM next time to get a more accurate reading!

My husband and I started playing last July and we are really enjoying it! It's a great activity to do together.

I've been playing for 2 years now and love/hate it LOL! Today was a fund raiser tournament for me. We did a couples scramble (foursome) and had a ball, shooting 6 under par for a total of 65! Truly, this is THE hardest activity I have ever done. I always had a feeling that I'd get into it in my old age, but it happened sooner than that. Glad you are enjoying it. I love it when I really connect nicely with my driver or 5 wood and send it sailing. Something very satisfying in a well struck shot. However, remember "Drive for show, putt for dough".

I play twice a week with other ladies, but we use golf carts so not many calories burned. And then there's the beer or wine cooler along the way.

My boyfriend is an avid golfer- a CRAZY golfer. I have yet to take it up, but have wanted if only to see what drives his obsession. Every time we have plans to go to the driving range, it RAINS!! Weather in Massachusetts this year has been horrible.

Tricia glad you had a good time. Sounds like you did good for your first time. I play a little on and off. Hope your not to sore today.

I was on a ladies league for a year and it was fun. My partner and I were the last place team but we had a blast.

I think it is the most frustrating game ever. Who knew hit a little ball could be so dang hard?!:D

My DH is the golfer. Pretty much lives on the golf course. He was a pro at one time but couldn't have any fun so he went back to being amateur.

Hi Jen!

Oh, I know about it being frustrating! My parents and brother played for years (my brother still plays). I have great stories about my brother's "frustration" with golf! I guess that's why I waited so long to take it up! ;) I'm just out there to have fun and play with my DH from time to time! He took up tennis for me last year, so I thought I'd return the favor! :)

I'm a little sore today, but not too much!

Here's the offical calorie count. I just finished walking 18 holes and I burned 1150 calories in just under 4 hours.

Now off to do tris and bis.

Mary, I feel your pain! I'm in RI!!! :(
