I need to thin out my upper body...

Hi Everyone:

I'm so inconsistent on this board but need your help. I guess I'm on the other side of the fence in that I tend to be top heavy in the sense that I have broad shoulders, big bones, meaty arms, stomach, etc. I really don't have problems with my lower body; it just needs toned up.

I'm looking for a Cathe DVD to help me thin out my upper body while not losing too much in my lower body for my posterior, hips and thighs. I watch what I eat and am about to start exercising 3-4 times a week with here DVDs. I have: Bootcamp/ME, Pyramid Upper/Lower, Power Hour, Kick Punch and Crunch/ L&G and Windsor Maxumum Burn for my abs only.

Please help, Joy

:)

A suggestion I would have is Supersets/Push Pull DVD. They are total body workouts, but there are premixes that are for upper body only that you could do maybe more often. SS upper body blast is 3 sets of each exercise. The entire workout is one hour. Or the premix upper body, one set per exercise is 34 minutes long. Push Pull upper body three sets per exercise is 65 minutes long. I really enjoy this DVD, they are fun, the music is great, and the workout goes by so fast!

I would use the S/H series to build upper body muscle, and then do a lot of the endurance tapes like ME, PH, CTX for overall conditioning. It sounds like you carry your fat in your upper body, and of course, working the muscle under the fat does not remove it.

You will have to continue watching and optimizing your diet while you burn calories and build muscle. Eventually, the fat will leave your upper body and reveal the muscle underneath.

I would suggest doing a kickboxing workout with lots of punches followed by an upper body endurance workout. You might try CTX kickboxing followed by the upper body portion of Body Max or Power Hour.

I'm with Mogambo here. Try the CTX upper body split and leaner legs, also from the CTX series. Both are high intensity and Cathe's best endurance weight training workouts: just the ticket and highly effective both.

In my opinion if you have fat to lose ANYWHERE on your body, Cathe's workouts will help you do it. Unfortunately you cannot spot reduce. In order words you cannot just lose fat from one part of your body and not another. So, just start working out consistently at least 4 times a week with her and see what happens. Five times would be better, if you could get in 2 weight days and 3 cardio, but if all you have is 4, I would still try to do 3 cardio (maybe have one of the cardio be bootcamp or another of her cardios that incorporates weights) and 1 full weight day. I would suggest trying different rotations every month or so, some heavier, some more endurance, and you will find what works best for your body. If you feel that your upper body is larger you may, at some point, want to consider building up the muscles in your legs with heavier weight work. Good luck.
