I need some help

I live in Sydney Australia and have never seen anything like Cathe's work here, I have only known about her since doing research into an appropriate weight training video or DVD.
Now, my problem is that I cannot decide which program is best for me.
I want to burn fat and build muscle and I have a little experience in lifting weights and can lift heavy at times.
I have noticed in some Joyce vedral reviews that she reccomends one type of video in her range for toning and yet another for building muscle. One builds one degree of muscularity and another does something else.
I'd like something that will burn the fat and build some decent muscle and I want it to be one of Cathe's DVD's.
Of course, I will probably end up buying more and more of these titles as time goes on but I have to start somewhere.. which title do you think would make the best first impression?
I am looking at "Pure Strength" and later "Slow and heavy".. what do you think?
Keep in mind, I have NO experience with any of these titles so I could be all wrong!
I appreciate the assistance and it will help a lot because I am really VERY confused!
Thankyou,
Kelly :p

Hi Kelly and welcome to Cathe :)

You really can't go wrong anywhere you jump in in regards Cathe's weight training series. Her cueing and her focus on correct form are clear and present in every weight training workout she does, so you can't go wrong with wherever you choose to start.

However, you did mention wanting to burn fat as well, and it makes me think of the CTX Series (CrossTrain Xpress Series) because you get both cardio and weight training in that series. The cardios are shorter versions of Cathe's longer step workouts so they're a great intro into her style of cardio, and trust me, fat burning they do! But you also follow each cardio segment with a weight training segment for a body part such as chest, biceps, triceps, back and shoulders. There is a separate workout for the legs!}( (one mere words cannot describe!)

But as I said, anywhere you jump in the water is great, you'll only add to your collection as we all do until you have em all!;)

Hi Donna,
Thank you for your reply and for the great insight you gave me into a program I wouldn't have thought of!
Can we factor into the situation that I cannot step to save my life.. have never done it AT ALL!
I think that is why I have avoided all of her cardio titles.
I usually walk for cardio because I can't mess that up! :7
What about the Power Hour + workout.. I believe that has cardio as well as a few weighted workouts and the reviews have been good. What can you tell me about that cardio portion?
I am wary of trying anything overly ambitious on a step in case I do myself a damage before I get experience up.
Thankyou again for the welcome and your message,
I appreciate it so very much.

Kelly,

As a former non-stepper I say go for it!!! Just do the routines on the floor without a step until you get the hang of them. And don't forget that A-B repeat button...I used it tons. I do find that I pick her routines up a little quicker now. Maybe that's due to knowing her now a little or just having some experience. Don't let the whole stepping thing throw you off. I too used to be a walker for cardio. About CTX...I just got that and have only done Kickbox but I really enjoyed that and there's no stepping to it!

I think the Power Hour+ DVD is a good choice. You have the choice of an endurance-oriented weight workout with lighter weight (PH), a more standard strength workout (MIS) and a cardio and weights workout (circuit Max?).
