I need recommendations - from the experts

I am ready to add to my growing Cathe collection. So far I own (in order of preference.) High Step Circuit, Low Max , Body Fusion, Step Blast, the Classics, and Basic Step. I hav SPJ, but I have previewed it and it looks intimidating, so I am very afraid :)

I find I really like the Circuits so I would be interested in more of those. I am also looking for workouts that maybe have chroreography that is easier to learn. I have dumbells, but I don't have a barbell. I also don't have a high step, but would be happy to get one if there is an irresistable workout that requires the high step. I prefer workouts that don't have a lot of jumping, I don't like that high of impact.

okee dokee...I'm not an expert but I will give it a shot ;) Since you don't like a lot of jumping, the first thing that comes to mind is low max. Great heart pumping routine that will not kill your shins, knees, etc.

You like circuits, but I'm having a hard time thinking of something w/o jumping. My fave is of course Bootcamp. I think it is an unbelievably kick butt routine. I'm sure you could modify the jumping parts as they feel comfortable to you. Choreography is quite simple.

Hey I don't have a high step but use a small rubberized step stool. For the most part it works perfectly. I just can't invest in a high step right now. Nor do I have a barbell. Dumbells do the trick just as well. Some people actually find one more comfortable to hold than the other.

Circuit Max is supposed to be great, too. If you want some other doozies, try the Terminator "Viper" or HC Extreme Circuit #1. Both will wipe you out.

If you are looking for step cardio, I would suggest Cardio Hits. I bought this pretty recently and it is my new favorite. The workouts are Cathe's older stuff and very well cued, so the choreography is easier to learn.

You can also see how her later, more intense moves evolved & I think will make it easier (as if anything with Cathe is easy! lol) to learn them. My goal is IMAX2, which is way beyond me at the moment... but PowerMax in particular is an awesome workout.

I recommend Hardcore High Step Challenge. The cardio sections are not complex at all, the music is good, and it is a good, well-rounded workout. It is not so tough that you'll drop dead at the end of the workout, but it is challenging and gives you a good workout. It's one of my favorites. It does, however, require a tall step, but I use my old Firm one and it works fine.
 
I have had Circuit Max on VHS for a long time and just did it for the first time last week. I really, really like this circuit workout. It consists of a 5 min hi/lo segment followed by some compound weight work, 5 more min of hi/lo, more compound weight work, 5 min kick box, more compound weight work, 5 more min of kick box on the step, compound weight work, 5 min step, compound weight work, 5 more min of step, weight work......

I hadn't done hi/lo since the 80's with my Jane Fonda workout. (That's probably why I haven't!) Also, I haven't had a lot of kickbox experience. Both the hi/lo and kickbox in Circuit Max have a very high fun factor and the whole workout seems to go by quickly.

ALL of the cardio sections are extremely fun and she uses either 5 or 8 lb dumbbells for the weight sections.

The Circuit Max DVD also includes Cardio Kicks, which I don't have. But I love this workout so much I'm going to buy the DVD soon.

I'm really surprised no one has suggested Cardio and Weights! It alternates fun step aerobics with a cycle of compound weight work and heavier upper body work. There are four cycles in all. Only a step and dumb bells required.

C&W came to my mind as I was reading this post. I see Diane has come up with the same suggestion. SJP may work too; the hi/lo is not very high impact.
