Has anyone ever had BOTOX? I have an appointment in a couple weeks to get it....I have had restylane before and I think it works really well....but some people say BOTOX is poison. I was just wondering if anyone has had it and how you felt about the results.

Thanks a bunch and have a great day!

Never had it, but I am sure ready and willing! Unfortunately, my funds are low and being spent on my rolls instead of wrinkles (just bought the Body Blast series.)

I would also really like to have my upper eyelids done. I have fairly hooded eyes, and at 38 they are starting to really droop. I think it makes me look tired and angry all the time. (Wait a minute...maybe I AM tired and angry all the time }(!)

Where did you get the restylane? I would like to get this done for the lines that run along the side of the nose/mouth area, but I have read that the results to not last very long.

I say just go for it!

I haven't had it. My girls' ophthalmologist on the main line has special evenings on the weekend where he offers it to adults. It's kinda like an alcohol free Botox party. You know, he's operated on my girls' eyes and has an impressive background. I would trust him not to mistakenly inject it in the wrong place. LOL I mentioned thinking about it to his secretary. I wanted to hug her when she said that I looked like I didn't need it yet. :)

Hi,

I have had restylane on my mouth lines (lines from nose to lips). It works really well....results last about six months. I want to get the botox around my eyes (crowsfeet) and between my eyes and perhaps forehead. I am 35 and my wrinkles are really starting to come out now....yuck!!! I love getting older....

Thanks for your responses....I really appreciate it!!!!

No, I haven't. A friend of mine likes getting the restylane, and I would consider that because it's a filler. Technically, botox is somehow connected with the botulism toxin, which is why it works by "paralyzing." That in itself is enough to make me squeemish about it.

I've been a regular user for about 6 years now (in fact I'm getting mine done Thursday) & I no longer consider it a luxury, for me it's a necessity. ;-)

The so-called poison in botox is supposedly the same poison that causes botulism. But there isn't enough of it in a vial of botox to kill a flea. In the 6 years I've been having it done I have never, ever had any side effects.

I get the area between my eyes (what I call my fishooks) and the frown lines around my mouth done. If done judiciously it looks very natural (I had to keep telling my dr. to leave the rest of my forehead alone--she kept doing my entire forehead & it looked VERY unnatural).

Really I just focus on the frown lines & leave my smile lines alone. I actually kind of like my smile lines. :)

I love Botox! I use it about twice a year for forehead wrinkles and the "frowner" furrow in the middle of the brow that I just can't stand.

I'm with LauraMax on the smile crinkles - I kind of like them.

But for foreheads, Botox is the bomb. I don't know what I'd do without it.

Another satisfied Botox customer here. Like someone else said, for me it has become a must, in the same way my cell phone has.

I do between my eyebrows, crow's feet and forehead and I go 2-3 per year, since age 40. Am 46 now.

I, too, have never had any negative side effects.

It is all about doing "little" things that make you look a little fresher, still you, but a more rested you!
I would never do a facelift, and believe if you take care of yourself and your skin, doing little things like fillers and Botox now, you can maintain a gracefully aging face and outlook on life.
Attitude is the biggest thing though!:) Don't you agree?

Ok ladies, if you don't mind, how much are you all paying for Botox? I have nothing against it (except I would want a vegan version if possible). Actually I would LOVE to get some on my the furrow of my brow. Oh, and I totally agree with the poster above me! Nothing wrong with doing little things to keep yourself looking good. Thanks!

I just got Botox done for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I really am happy with the results - other than I need a touch up since it was my first time and you never know how it will take. BUT the lady that does the injections at the cosmetic surgeons office that I go to hurt her wrist and has been out - UGH!!! I got my forehead and the crows feet around my eyes done. So nice to look fresher - it probably took 5 years off my face.

My sister has been getting it done for probably two years and totally swears by it. She looks amazing - you would never know she was 37 - everyeone always guesses late 20's.

One thing to remember - do not take any ibuprophen or aspirin for a few days before you get it done. I wasnt told that and ended up with a few very small bruises and a little bleeding because I had taken some ibu the day before.

Edited to say that at my place I pay $12 a unit - to get the forehead and crowfeets done took 32 units. Although I know I need a few more. My sister goes to a gal that is a national Botox trainer and pays $15 a unit.

Carolyn, Botox comes from a bacteria called Clostridium botulinum. So I a not sure what you mean by a vegan version.

I get mine free. It's a great benefit of practicing in a dermatology office. I get all of my cosmetic procedures free!!

12-15 dollars per unit I believe is average cost. Though some places charge more!!

Holy crap that is expensive! For that price I would probably buy some new sneakers or a fabulous pair of shoes :) But that is why we love our freedoms here - to each their own!! :)

A friend of mine said she got Retinol for $1.99 on sale at GNC that is a topical you put under your eyes or whatever and she said it totally worked on her face - the lines just disappeared....

It is expensive, but it's worth it for me. I spend $1200-1400 a year on botox. A lot of people spend that on entertainment, eating out, wine, movies, vacations, etc. that I don't do. So I don't let myself feel guilty about it. I just got back from getting my shots & I feel so purdy.......:p

Now, if I could just convince my doc that she needs better reading material.......what on earth is Mechanics Monthly doing in a cosmetic surgeon's office? I had no idea the auto industry was a target audience for car mechanics.......and why is my only other option AARP Quarterly? x(

What is the average number of units? I would like to get it in my forehead. How often do you get it redone? I thought it lasted about 3 months?
LD

Yes, it lasts about 12 weeks. My doc doesn't charge by the unit, she charges by the vial. Prices in the NYC metro area range from $350-550 per vial, depending on the doc's office. The fancier the office the higher the price. My doc charges $450 per vial, the fancy doc across the hall charges $550. Probably in the city itself it's even more expensive.

When I first started getting it done I lived in rural southern VA. The doc was an ENT dr. & he charged $125 per vial. Boy do I miss him. ;-)
