I Hate CArdio check-in, 3/22

Michele,

Are you doing your cardio YET? (((HEELLLOOO))) LOL! I just finished Imax 2. I got this really sharp pain near my heart (no, not having a heart attack), but just a cramp. I think I drank too much before I began. So I am off to shower away the excess bodyfat and smelling pretty again. LOL!

Alright - I am in the middle of a carb binge. I have been eating 40-30-30 diet for about 3 weeks now and doing okay (though haven't really lost any weight) and all of a sudden today I am going on a total carb binge! This morning I had my usual breakfast and then when I got to work, I was starving and craved a bagel like nothing else. So I got one, with some lf cream cheese. Then at lunch I went to a Vietnamese restaurant with co-workers and got a noodle dish. I didn't like it that much and didn't eat a ton, so when I got back to the office, I needed some more food. What do I get? A package of powdered sugar donuts from the vending machine!!!! I didn't even want chocolate, just pure bread and sugar. It is not even that TOTM.

So here is my question. I have been reading on runnersworld.com and other running websites that runners are not supposed to eat low carb or 40-30-30 diet plans, because runners need more carbs. I decided that once I start really training and adding more miles, I would add in more carbs, but that for now I am really not running enough to add more carbs to my diet. Is my body crying out for more carbs, or am I just having the usual bread and sugar cravings of a person on a lower carb diet? I don't want to mess up my diet, as I got down to a goal weight on this same plan a few years ago, but I also definitely don't want to hinder my running. Any advice? Because I am still craving more and more food, and might get a reduced-fat coffee cake at Starbucks on my afternoon coffee run.

Okay, I did eat a reduced fat coffee cake and now I think I am done. I am so full and can't think of eating any more carbs. I will just go back to my 40-30-30 diet and forget this whole thing ever happened. Maybe I will also throw in an extra run this week to compensate for those donuts! I just don't know what got into me.

Imax 2 - Great idea!!! I have been talking myself out of cardio all day!! I figured I would do MM instead - BUT - I need to do cardio today so I am going to do it at 6PM sharp!!! Thanks for the motivation - I just cannot get into cardio these days - need motivation!!!! or maybe some new cardio workouts - cardio coach or turbo jam has caught my eyes..........lol

Good Evening Cardio Haters!

Today is a scheduled rest day...so I'm resting after a long day at the office.

Tomorrow I'm Back in the cardio groove.

Holy Crap! I fell asleep on the couch and woke up THREE HOURS LATER! I guess I was tired---eh? Anyway, when I woke up I had to run some errands for my DH. I just got home. I'm about to start dinner, then I AM working out around 9 tonight. I have my DVD and work out clothes together laying on my bed. It WILL happen.

I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread but I'll look at it later. Take care you cardio hatin check-in-ers!

Did you do your cardio yet, Michele?

I went for a run this morning. I was planning to do just one mile and be done, but I felt pretty good and went a little further. I went a little more than a mile and then turned around...into the WIND! It was pretty cold, so that made me run faster! But I got my cardio done and I felt good the rest of the day. I tend to overeat whe I am doing more weight work and feel hungry. When I do more cardio, I have less cravings for bad stuff. Hmmm.

I hate cardio...but it is a necessary eveil.

Jenn,

Good for you on that run and I'm really proud of you for going past your goal distance. That is GREAT!!! Thanks for checking on me! I'm done. I just finished and I now understand where they came up with the expression "beet red". I did the Prevention "Walk Your Way Slim" with Michelle Dozois. They demonstrate 3 intensity levels and I can usually do the intermediate level. I was dying tonight. I don't know why but it was all I could do to finish. I kept going back and forth between the beginner and intermediate levels but at least I got through it. I think maybe I worked out too soon after dinner.

I'm like you in that weight lifting gives me a voracious appetite. I haven't been doing that either  ;( . I was going to do a total body weight work out tonight but I think I need to reconsider at this point. Oh well, tomorrow is another day. I vowed that this would be the no guilt zone--LOL!

Diane, you are so funny! Hey, I hear you and I'm right there with you. Carbs get me every time. I don't really care that much about dessert, but man, I could eat bagels, potatoes, and pasta at every meal. I'm not familiar with a runners diet, but maybe you do need to up your carbs a little bit. Try going for carbs with more fiber and eat them with a little protein. Maybe that will stick with you a little better. Have you tried steel cut oats for breakfast? I eat oatmeal with chopped apple, walnuts, and cinnamon and that keeps me feeling full for several hours.

Reba, I'm so glad you checked in tonight. We'd love to add you to the population of Cardiohateville!

I'm sorry if I missed anyone. My brain is fried at the moment. Sleep tight and I'll see you in the morning.

Oh, one last thing. My new DVD still hasn't come:-( Maybe tomorrow?

Michele
