I got STS mesocycle 1 and the Tower for Christmas!

Hi Guys,

I don't post here often but I do lurk from time to time. Let me give you a little background on me. A couple of years ago I lost almost 70 pounds doing weight watchers and Cathe step workouts from FitTV. I kept most of the weight off but over the last 6 to 7 months I kinda got bored and and a little depressed over family things and I stopped working out regularly and started eating more and I prob. gained back about 25 pounds. :eek:

I told my DH that I know I need to get back on track and I also realize that instead of doing mostly cardio...I need to start getting into doing more weight routines. He bought me the STS mesocycle 1, the tower, and a barbell weight set for Christmas. :D

As much as I am excited to start this new workout routine...I am also a little scared. I am mostly a step workout girl and I know I am not going to be able to do all the push-ups and pull-ups in the STS workouts. I guess I am going to have to just try it and little by little I will get stronger and better each time.

I am sure I will be posting here with more questions as I start the series. Any advice for a weight workout newbie would be appreciated! From what I have read...it seems like I may have to do the Mesocycle 1 more than once since I don't usually do these types of workouts...am I right?

Congratulations on your success at losing weight!! What a wonderful Christmas gift. Meso 1 is about endurance and conditioning and while all those pushups and pullups are challenging, practice makes perfect! Cathe offers modifications and if you watch CatheTV she has lots of advice for each week of STS workouts.
You will be amazed how quickly you see gains st your ability to do the exercises. Keep posting questions and progress.... I am sure there will probably be an STS group starting January 1. I would go over to check ins and challenges and join a group starting the same week you are, it was great being able to commiserate over the challenges and achievements each week.

Wow! That is a GREAT Christmas present.

Cathe shows modifications on the push ups. I still can't do a lot of push ups on my toes...but one day I will.

I would suggest you get a mirror for your work out area. You want to make sure you have good form. You shouldn't go too heavy to begin with, you can always increase the weight second time through. If you do the 1RM you will know what weight to use. I actually lost more inches in meso 2 and 3. For weight loss the calories matter more than the workout but I did lose a lot of inches from STS. You might want to join a check in group. I know for me checking in and getting encouragement from others really helps. Joan

Hi I just ordered the whole collection on line 2 days ago, I hope it will get here soon so I can start with other's . It would be great to have a group doing it together. I will watch for people starting together, I need to go get a barbell set. Good luck

Good luck to you too! I need to take down my Christmas tree and get my living room back to normal before I can start. I plan to be ready for Jan 1st. I am still a little nervous but i am sure I will love it after a few workouts.
