I finally lost some weight.

After 2 years of trying to lose a little weight with Weight Watchers, Ediets, etc., I decided that my New Year's Resolution was to not do those diets and just count calories. I started this on Sunday and I've already lost 1-1/2 pounds. I definitely believe I was not eating enough with those diets as I have felt so full this week. One day I actually almost felt sick because I ate more than normal. I hope this wasn't just a fluke and it keeps going. Over the last 2 years I literally had not lost any weight at all and even gained weight on Weight Watchers.

Congratulations on the weight loss!!! :7 I am soooo happy for you!!:D Sometimes I think that those other programs assume nobody exercises and then put everybody on a low calorie diet. I joined Nutrisystem just to use their food log and diary and they put me on 1200 calories, and I knew that that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay tooooooo low for me and my level of activity. Thankfully I wasn't planning on using their food or program or I would be in starvation mode by now. That may have been what happened to you, you were in starvation mode and your body does one of 2 things, it either maintains where it is at, or you gain.:( I am glad that you have started a way of looking at food that is working for you!! Keep us posted on how you are doing!!:7

WOO HOO!! Way to go, Kelley! I can relate to not eating enough while trying to "diet". Even when I was on WW, I ate more points than allowed because I was working out so much. If I didn't, I gained weight or simply stalled. Keep up the great work!!! You sound like you're on the right track, and most importantly, you've found what works for YOU!!

That is so great!!!

I have tried for years to take it down too with no results. I have learned that I was eating too little. However, now with the holidays I have eaten too much.

Good for you!!!

Kelly- Oh, I have been in the same boat!!!!! I started the same thing Dec. 29th. Yesterday I was so hungry, I ended up way overeating, and today I am very discouraged. I can't lose weight for anything. My question to you is, what calorie level did you try to stay under??? I was trying to go for 1800, and I still felt like I was starving. Can you please give me some tips?? I know in my heart I can't give up, but today, I am discouraged.

Hi Lori, I may not be able to help you as I'm keeping my calories lower than 1800. I'm at 1500 calories, but I think this should all depend on current weight, height, and age. I'm 41, only 5', and started at 124. I'm now at 122.5. Plus I have a very sedentary job as I'm a medical transcriptionist. At 1500 calories I haven't been hungry at all. I'm also not really watching what I eat, just whatever I feel like. I'm not saying that I eat garbage all day, but I'm not really worrying about eating that small brownie I had last night for a treat.

I'm editing because I wanted to also add my rotation that I also just started this week which may have something to do with my weight loss. Since turning 40, I have lost a lot of muscle to fat. So I started a new rotation this week. I'm going to try to build some serious muscle and then I'm going to try to add definition.

I'm doing this for 3-4 weeks.
Sunday - Cardio
Monday - Slow & Heavy Back and Chest
Tuesday - Slow & Heavy Biceps and Triceps plus 30 minutes of cardio
Wednesday - Slow & Heavy Legs and Shoulders
Thursday - Cardio
Friday - Power Hour
Saturday - Rest Day

Then I'm moving onto this rotation for 6 weeks, maybe more, depending on how I feel.
Sunday - Cardio
Monday - Pyramid Upper Body
Tuesday - Cardio
Wednesday - Pyramid Lower Body
Thursday - Cardio
Friday - Muscle Endurance

Once this is over, I'll decide what to do next, but I'll probably do full body workouts 3 days (Supersets, Push/Pull) and cardio for 3 days.

COngrats on the loss.I know how you feel.I put on 5-8 lbs last year and I couldn't move it.But I knew I could count on christmas! Beleive it or not. That time of year I am so busy, plus I work out, and am not eating meals but picking.I admit that it wasn't the best way to the lose the weight but it wasn't on purpose either.Either way it is gone and I can wear my jeans again.:) I am trying to keep it off now and it is going very well.I am doing more cardio then normal and I think that is going to be the key.
Good luck with the rest of your journey.
Lori
