I feel absolutely horrible about what I just did..

I just cancelled STS...after watching the most recent youtube clip..there are quite a few moves that my back issues won't allow me to do safely...and it's a hefty chunk of change to put out for something that I'm going to have to modify more than I would like.

I'm angry with myself for cancelling, but I'd feel even worse if I received the series, and found myself not being able to do some parts of it.

I recently tweaked my back a tad, and have been tiger balming and icing the last couple of days..feels so much better now, I just know myself too well, and I will be so tempted to attempt the exercises as is, and will end up becoming far too friendly with Tiger Balm and Ice, and anger myself even further.

I am pretty sure I tweaked my back doing deadlifts, a move I know I shouldn't be doing...I did find a great modification for deadlifts (a combination of superman/hamstring rolls, if anyone's interested). I just had to see if I could do the deadlifts again, and found out I couldn't.

I really do hate myself at times for being so stupid, I'm hoping that by cancelling STS, and my latest flare-up, I will have finally learned a lesson, because not being able to exercise the last few days has really sucked..pardon the French.

Jerry, deep breath. You know your body better than ANYONE! I think there are many here who have not ordered for the same reasons. I think you should be UBER proud of yourself for excepting your limits and for knowing and loving yourself. :)

Jerry, you would be more mad at yourself for getting STS and then realizing you wouldn't use it in the way it was intended. You are 100 percent right for cancelling! And again, that is a LOT of money to invest in something you wouldn't really utilize.

I cancelled my preorder, too, for the fact I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money right now on exercise DVDs. Especially when I can add to my collection by buying existing Cathe DVDs I don't own--at a much better price for my wallet. :)

Don't let the "newness" of STS mess with your head.

Do you have great workouts in your collection that you enjoy? Yes. Are you close enough to enjoy Cathe's live classes? Yes. Can you put the money you would spend on STS to better use elsewhere? Probably.

I know it's hard not to get caught up in the excitement when Cathe offers something new, and Lord knows the YouTube clips advertise STS well. :) But in the end, it'll just be another cool Cathe workout, and you already have plenty of those. Plus keep in mind that she's likely to offer up something else new in the future, something that may be more back-friendly for you (The Cathe kettlebell-lookin' thing and the core balance board hint at more fun on the horizon!). Save your cash for that.

The way I see it, if a person can afford STS and can make excellent use of it, great. It makes sense to purchase it. But if it's an issue financially or otherwise, it's much smarter to pass it up. There's no rule that says you can't purchase it in the future.

Life's too short to aggravate yourself over stuff like this. :)

Jerry! Don't be angry at yourself. I think you made a very smart move by listening to your body and your intelligence. If you are dying to have them later, you can buy them later.

I'm thinking of canceling myself so that I can invest in kettlebells and a Vitamix blender! I'm trying to listen to what I really want, and a strict three month rotation with a bunch of moves I can't do without equipment I don't have is not looking good. I can't do a pull-up!! Not one! Why do I want to buy a ton of videos featuring pull-ups?

Don't feel bad :) There are plenty of things you CAN do with your back and that is what will make you happy.

Don't feel horrible. We are all different and have different requirements.

I hope your back is doing much better.

Hi Jerry,

There are modifications to all the STS. Perhaps you can cancel your cancellation. You can always sell the STS if in fact you can't do it. Ebay comes to mind. It might even sell more than you paid for it.

Just a thought, don't want you to give up before you even have a chance to see and modify. Then again, you know your body.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over it Jerry. It's a smart move to listen to your body. It would be a shame to have all those DVDs just sitting on the shelf unused, so you probably made the right call.

I know where you are coming from though. I also canceled my STS pre-order due to a back injury. Eight months ago I ruptured a pair of discs in my lower back. I'm doing pretty well now, finally, but it wasn't worth it to me to have to modify so much of STS. (You won't catch me doing ANY exercise with the word "dead" in it, that's for sure!). I also wasn't sure I could stick to a rotation for three months, to be honest. I was very bummed after canceling, but now, I'm not bothered in the least. I've got plenty of other Cathe weight workouts I can do with less modification, so I'm happily using them.

Sounds like you did the right thing, Jerry. How do you handle one-arm rows? I also have a bad back, and I find that one-arm rows are the worst for me. Even worse than deadlifts. I do my supermans religiously. Inquiring minds want to know: whats your superman-hamstring move? Sounds very interesting.

Nancy...

This is what is so frustrating...certain exercises that, on the surface, you'd think would bother my back, in fact do not...one arm rows are a great example of this..I can do these religiously with no discomfort at all!! Same with kickbox...you'd think that would bother my back...just the opposite, my back feels great after KB!!!

Regarding the superman/hamstring exercises...basically it is a set of supermans, followed by a set of lying hamstring curls on the stability ball. Supermans are another exercise that you would think bother the low back..nope, not at all.

For me..deadlifts, and certain balance moves are my downfall.

Why feel horrible? I think that is the beauty of being able to cancel. Sometimes we need to think further about these decisions, even after purchasing. Sometimes a light goes off that didn't previously about the risks/benefits of certain workouts.

I think we've all been there...you just don't "see" it in writing ;)

Don't feel bad - I feel regret because I know I'd enjoy the workouts...but they are simply way too expensive....and I know I can get great muscle work with programs less than half that price;;

Would love a fairy workoutmother to grant it to me though!!!

Jerry - I completely understand how you feel - I had to cancel my order about a month ago after I found out I needed shoulder surgery and my Princess was sick. Princess is doing great with a change in diet to manage her early stage kidney disease. My shoulder (less than two weeks after surgery) feels better than I thought. Had 2nd PT session today and my therapist said I am "really loose" (I should be offended;)) and that I am about 1 1/2 weeks ahead of schedule already and already started me on strengthening moves (albeit, without weights but still...). So then I'm thinking "Darn, maybe I could have been ready for STS".... I might ask my boss to get it for my for my Christmas present but will wait to see how I feel at the end of November.

I do miss all of my Cathe workouts though... found myself just watching StepBlast on FitTV last night just to hear her and feel her energy... I love Cathe!!
