I did Imax 2 on the 8" step! I'm not sure if I've ever done the whole workout on an 8" step. I know I've done parts of it, but not the whole thing. I didn't give myself much choice to do the whole thing because I duct taped my risers together so I couldn't lower it to 6". I must be insane. I was very out of breath during the blasts! Intervals 5 and 9 were torture!!!! For some reason I feel like I have to do Cathe's step workouts on an 8" step. Anyone care to talk me out of this?

This was supposed to be challenging....right? :7

I'm not going to talk you out of it because the last time I did IMAX 2, I also did it on an 8" step for the first time. I needed more of a challenge. I've been feeling the need to do all of my step workouts on 8" with the exception of IMAX 3. I don't know if I'll ever do that on 8".

WOW!!!! I am very impressed. I usually follow Cathe with whatever she uses and I have to admit, I hate using the 8" step cause its so darn hard!!:)

I know one person who broke her foot trying to do Cathe's advanced videos on an 8 in step.

I used to think I had to use an 8 in step all the time, but the truth is I get a much more intense and safe workout on 6 inches.

I use 8 in on on some of the CTX and the Low Max videos.

I am 5'1" and I want to save my joints so I can work out until I am 90!

I used to do Imax 2 on an 8 inch step until I twisted my ankle doing starddle taps. I broouht it down to 6 inches and its much safer for me. I do use an 8 inch step for the majority of her workouts though.

Thanks for the input guys. I want a great workout that's SAFE! I also find if I use a 6 inch step, I can beef up the intensity during the blasts.

Hey Karen~
Yesterday I did the first half of IM2 with the 8" but started tripping/stumbling so I switched to the 6" to finish. I think I'm going to stick with the 6" as I'm not ready for another sprained ankle...yet! :) And I think you're right about being able to really intensify the blasts if you do the work on the 6".

Btw, I finally got the straddle taps down. Now I don't understand why I had a problem to begin with...hehehe.

If you're able to do the workouts on an 8" step, more power to you, but I am asthmatic and can't. I have to do my step workouts without a step altogether, but still get my heart rate up way high and I'm covered in sweat when I'm finished.

I will occasionally use a step for the first couple of intervals of a workout just to up the intensity, and I find that while it gets my heart rate up, it's clumsy. Sometimes, certain moves are more intense WITHOUT the step, anyway.

My chiropractor also tells me that using a step wouldn't be good for me because of my knees and lower back.
