I'm a long time lurker here, but only posted a little bit and that was a year or so ago. I've been excited about STS since Cathe first talked about it, but was on the fence about buying it for several reasons. After reading your questions and the responses I've picked up the confidence and excited to pre-order. Yay!! I just ordered tonight, thanks for my tax refund.

I also ordered Cardio Hits as I need more steady state intermediate level cardio workouts. Having 3 new Cathe workouts should keep me busy until STS comes out, right?

These purchases have a special meaning and inspiration for me. I found out a week ago that I have uterine cancer and need a hysterectomy. I'm only 33 and single. It's scary, but the cancer is in a very early stage and it seems like the only "treatment" I'll need is the hysterectomy. While I'm in a kind of mourning for the loss of potential natural born children, I'm also feeling a bit of relief. I've struggled with hormone and female issues since I was 12. Due to these problems I've had difficultly losing weight. I know I have what it takes to lose weight as I lost 75 pounds and have kept it off for 5 years. I've got another 75 to lose, and I'm soooo ready to do it!!

So these new workouts are a fresh hope for me, a fresh start in many ways. I'm terrified, in a good way, of STS but trust Cathe and can't wait to see my body get transformed!!

Thank you for letting this lurker share my excitment for the new series and my story with you. I feel like so many of you are my friends...maybe that sounds weird? ;)

Connie :)

Congratulations Connie,

That is awesome! 75 lbs is a HUGE accomplishment and to keep it off for 5 years WOW! I felt the same way when I pre ordered, but every time I check out the blog and see new pictures I am so glad I ordered. I am sorry to hear about your uterine cancer but what a blessing that it is in an early stage and treatable and hopefully curable with a hysterectomy.
Anyway you rock!!

Thank you, Rocky! What a cool name!! My surgery is Monday the 25 of Feb. I'll post an update later that week when I'm up and moving around again.

I've been head over heels in love with Cathe's workouts for 3 years now. I'm definitely hooked! No other instructor really "does it' for me anymore, though once in awhile an old Kathy Smithy video can be fun when I'm short on time.

Thanks for your response and kindness! :)

((((Laurie))) Thank you so much! :) Get off that STS fence! C'mon, you know you wanna order....dontcha? *wink*

I'll post an update around Leap Day. As a bonus I get to go to Disney with my mom (who's running a conference at a resort there this week) later this week. It's nice to have a mini-vacation to look forwrd to, especially one with my mom!, before the surgery. I haven't been to Disney in over 12 years! I'm excited!! :p

Thanks for your lovely and caring response!

Thank you for all your kind, supportive, and cheer-me-up posts!! This is one awesome board of women (and men, too, eagleboo!). I'll be posting more often, especially once I'm cleared by the doctor to be back in the exercise saddle again. Giddyup, Cathe, here I come! lol

Connie :)

You ladies are an inspiration! You know,as a woman and nurse, I've NEVER met a woman who regretted her hysterectomy - despite what has been seen in the media....even my friends who had to have it done while they were young, even the ones who had totals and refused hormone replacement! All have done well.........

As for children, that is a loss, but if parenthood is the goal, being a mom is love and commitment over biology............

Sharing your stories helps so many of us!

Thank you so much for posting this response!! Your words are extremely comforting to me right now. I've been wondering about so many things concerning the hyterectomy. This puts me at ease, thank you!

I'm not sure that I even want children, but I do know that, like you said, parenthood is a committment beyone biology. Both my sisters have offered to be surrogates in the future, and I think that's pretty special. If one day I find a man to share my life and we decide we want children...well, I'll deal with all that when it happens. ;)

I think the worse part of this is wondering if my weight is what caused the cancer. Did I do this to myself? I've known that weight is a factor in raising cancer chances, but felt positive about losing 75 pounds and felt somewhat protected. I'm still proud of losing the weight, but it stinks to think that it wasn't enough weight in enough time. I've been pretty closed mouth about sharing my cancer with most people, because I'm afraid that people will blame me...blame my weight...blame the fat girl. Intellectually, I know that's not very likely to be true...but somehow I keep going back to that thought. I did this to myself. I guess that's why I haven't told many people..I don't deserve their empathy or sympathy. Dark thoughts, eh?

Mostly, I try to think matter of factly about it. It should be a fairly simple problem to fix. It was caught very early, and there's no signs of it having spread. I'm trying to keep it in a neat and tidy box in my mind and ignore those darker thoughts.

So hearing from a nurse that no woman she knows has regretted her hysterectomy is a big comfort. Thanks, again. :*

Wow, Connie! What a positive outlook! It's nice to "see" you back here. You will be in my thoughts & prayers for a speedy recovery. Have a great time at Disney with your Mom!!!

Connie, your positive outlook will certainly help you recover quickly.

Congrats on your 75 lb. weight and maintenance -- what an accomplishment!

I'm sorry to hear of your cancer diagnosis and pending surgery, but as someone else said, it's a blessing it was detected early. It's not your fault you're going through this; we do what we can to *reduce* our chances of getting it, but as you unfortunately know, it's no guarantee.

Good luck with your surgery and recovery. And have a wonderful time with your mom at Disney :)

Hi Connie, I just read something about cancer on the internet.
It was aol news on my homepage.
Actually it says these suplements can help prevent/fight cancer:
Michael Roizen says:
1. Vitamin D: there are many good sources: Skim milk, orange juice, broccoli etc.
2. Folate: spinach,tomatoes,oranges.
3. Selenium: no more than 100mg supplement a day.
4. Lycopene: Supplement
I thought of you when I read it. I also read that people have cancer coaches to help them sort things out, because there is so much confusing information out there.
I do not know how to send you the link?? x(
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care, eat healthier and cleaner than ever. Oh and rest.
Rocky ;-)

Thanks for posting this info for me, Rocky! I've been taking a multi-vitamin with lycopene and an extra selenium everyday for years. Does that mean it doesn't work? haha! Kidding!

I will seek the wisdom of a cancer coach if I find out that it's spread. It's most likely that it's contained in my uterus and the hysterectomy is all the "treatment" I'll need.

You're so sweet to post this for me, thank you!

Connie :)
