WHAAAAH!! It's probably going to cost me $300 to get fixed. There is a deep gash on the hood of my car that is going to have to be buffed out and repainted. I'm so MAD at myself.

Oh No, Beth!

I sure hope you have already ordered the new series of tapes?? Sooo frustrating when things like that happen. :-( Good Luck with the repairs!

Beth:

I hear you.... Things like this are so stupid, and yet they happen all the time!

last year I could have kicked myself for such stupidity: I had parked in a multi-storey car park, third floor right up against one of the posts/cement boulders on the side. I was so concerned backing out that there might be a car coming up behind me that I was looking the other way, swung the car round to the right nice and firmly when I ascertained that there was no car danger on the left, and thwacked the right front side of my car right into a b****y cement post!!!! Talk about extremely large dent... Several hundred dollars later....

See, we all do it!

Ok, here you go....Last summer I took my daughter & her girlfriend to the beach. Parking there is plentiful--with parking meters. Guess who plowed right into one?! Need a hint? Me! Damaged the fender, hood & broke the headlight. $1373.27. Lovely.

I so feel your pain Beth. Just think at least it's less than your deductible & won't cause your insurance to go up.

I'm ready to take the next step! http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/Smilies_klein_1/a_smil09.gif

Misery loves company so here goes.

My husbands best friend just finished building a new garage next to his house this past summer. They also purchased a new minivan. He also had about 70 sheets of new drywall stored in the new garage. He unintentionally left his minivan in neutral and got out of the car to do something and the van rolled into the garage, through the new drywall and through the back of new garage. Very new van, very new garage, very new drywall, very expensive mistake. See everyone has one of those moments.

(homeowner's insurance you ask??? He had another expensive mistake happen a few months prior to which the home insurance company warned him that if he claims anything else they will drop him!!!) when it rains it pours!!

At least you have a new bar bell right?????

I don't know if this really helped or not.

I guess this does happen to everyone. I got a quote from the body shop and it will cost $500 to get it fixed. My deductable it $500 so this is out of my pocket. Oh well. At least no one including the pets were hurt.

I once went out got into my car (and what I was thinking I'll still never know to this day) started shooting outta my driveway and smashed right into DH's car at 30 miles per hour, which was parked about 10 feet behind me in the driveway :-hmmm

Now explain that ONE to your insurance company

My husband did something similar to edith. We had just bought a brand new car and only had a one car garage. My husband was on call and got paged to go the hospital at 3am so he was obviously kinda sleep since he was woken up. Usually he parked his car on the non-garage side of the drive way and the new car was mine but he liked to drive it.

Well he decided to take the new car and for some strange reason when he had come home from work earlier in the evening he parked his car in FRONT of the garage. You can guess the rest.

He backed my brand new car pretty fast into his car. The next morning he was really upset trying to explain it to me. I actually thought it was kinda funny- hey makes a great story. It was covered by insurance. Getting upset would have only made him feel bad. He STILL feels stupid about it and that happened 6 years ago!!

If you did this with an automatic garage door opener you need to get it replaced because it should have a sensor which will not allow this to happen...and then again if you do not have a garage door opener...getting one may be less expensive than risking this happening again.

Take care.

Beth,
I am so sorry! Sounds like something I would do! Hang in there! I actually did it one time on my DH's car. We were both pulling out and I hit the closer in my car without thinking about it. It got the top of his SUV. Funny thing is it hurt the garage door worse than our car! It was crazy.

I hate it when those things happen. Don't know if you go to church or not? If so, you might want to check with the church to see if anyone does body work. You might be able to at least get a fair deal. We use a lot of local service providers from the church and always have good luck. Some of them even donate a certain % to charity or the church.

Look at it this way.... at least it wasn't your head - ha ha
