Humpday Meltdown - Wed

buffettgirl

Cathlete
Morning melters. I was suprised to beat Deb here this morning. She must be doing an extra long workout today.

tneah, we test for MRSA with nasal swabs. I'm learning the new procedure today. We've been seeing reports in the news about VRSA, which is resistant to everything. (The V stands for vancomycin, what they use to treat MRSA) We haven't gotten one yet, but it is just a matter of time. I remember when we isolated our first penicillin resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae. The news station came into to lab and filmed me working. LOL. That was a long time ago and the human race hasn't died out yet.

Michele, I had to LOL about your DH. Of course, if he was mine, the D would stand for dead.

Shelley, I hope you feel better today.

Today is a rest day for me. I'll use the free time to do grocery max. I love grocery shopping, since it is the only time I get to spend $$ lately. This time of year is always tight, with Christmas bills, taxes and insurance all coming due at once. Cathe should have realized that when she scheduled the pre-sale!

I better hit the road. Hi to all you other melty-type folk. I'll try to get back later to see what's new wit youse.

Hi Robin,

We were posting at the same time... I will copy my stuff over here!

Today I did Gym Style Back, Biceps and Shoulders. I have not done the Gym Styles in a while, and I forgot that they were really good.

I lost that horrible 3 pounds that I picked up somehow last week and am down another 1/2! It must have been some wicked water

Judy:
Nice job on the weight loss! I did the I-Tread #14, which is 45 minutes using a 6 to 1 ratio.. you walk, jog or run, for 5-6 minutes with a one minute challenging recovery. It is usually on an incline. I liked it a lot!

Shannon:
I tried using DB's for pushups but it hurt my hands more than the wrists on the floor! We are both using Gs this week!

Shelley:
Hope you are feeling better today.

Lainie:
Thanks for the info on the Perfect Pushups...let me know what you think of them. Did you see my question regarding e-mailing me the compendium? I can't seem to download it from your blog..

Stephanie:
One blueberry pancake is not that bad.. I am proud that you could stop at one!

Leanne:
Good job on the clean eating! I agree about the process in crafts..I quilt and it makes the whole world disappear when I am doing it..time flies too.

Tneah:
I ended up reading that thread.. nuf said!. Good for you for making that decision on the trainer. I hope you keep us posted on how it is going.

TK:
I don;t like any of the cardio in 4DS except the kickboxing one.

Robin:
I don;t think we will actually need any new equipment for STS..

Have a great day!

Hey Melters~

Unfortunately, I'm not feeling better, so probably no workout for me unless I make some miraculous recovery.

Robin - enjoy your rest day.

Deb - that iTread sounds like fun. I still have 3 credits this month because I haven't got around to downloading anything.

Lainie - thanks for updating the Compendium. I think I have whatever you had. I can barely make it to the bathroom and back without needing a nap, and I've got the sore throat/blocked up ears, etc.

Everyone else, sorry I don't have the energy for personals, but I'm reading and thinking about y'all. Have a great day.

Hi I'm back...

Just in case anyone missed it on the OD...here is the answer from SNM to the question regarding the first number in the pre-orders:

"17718 was the first number"... I was 17,825. I think Lainie may be lower.. I know ...obsessive or what?

Hello :)

Shelly- ~~~ healthy vibes coming your way~~~~ Rest and fluids too!

tneah- I applaud you fro taking steps to improve your self!

Robin- I do thin you would like a spin class. It remined me of an Imax on a spin bike, however, the recovery periods are only about 70% not much of a rest!

Deb- you are funny with your number for the STS!

Lanie- Thank you Thank for updating the compendium

Gotta go~ we are leaving this afternoon for our little golf weekend with friends.

See ya next week :7

Good morning, Melters -

Last night I did GS BSB and really enjoyed it. I'll do CT later this week. Today will be a rest day, since I have to get my hair cut after work, which means no time left over this evening.

I realized yesterday that I'm getting way too close to obsessing about fitness again. I'm just glad I caught myself. I'm going to have to take a few steps back and reassess.

Robin - I work in health care too, so I hear a lot about MRSA and VRSA. But like you said... the human race hasn't died out yet! I saw that you're leaning more towards buying STS. What made you change your mind? For me, it's one of those things that would make me obsess more right now, so even though I love the idea and even had the money reserved, I'm not going to get it.

Deb - way to go on losing those 3 lbs! I know what you're talking about, with the dbs hurting your hands. They do, but for me it was better than the wrist pain and now I'm used to it.

Shelley - just keep on taking it easy! You'll get better!

Judy - have fun golfing!!

Cuz - I'm so glad you were able to stop by yesterday! Come back! :7

Just a quick check-in as I need to go take Ewan to school in a few minutes. Then I'm meeting a friend for coffee while he's at school. (She's the assistant rector of our church--Mother Emily, but I can't bring myself to call her Mother because she's younger than I am. Plus I haven't been Episcopalian long enough to get used to the Mother/Father stuff anyway.)

Today I have 4DS Kickbox on tap. Time to open up a can of whoopa$$! Yeah! I'll do that later when Ewan naps.

My STS order number was 17724, so I wasn't far behind Leanne (who was the first one!)

BBL for personals.

Hiya Melters,

Today no more treats for me. I've packed on SO much weight since Thanksgiving. I was at about 127 (it bounced from 126 to 127) --SO close to my goal of 120. And then after the holidays and Disneyworld, I weighed in this morning at 134. Yes, I not only "clicked up a 10" as I say, but I'm now EIGHT POUNDS heavier. I think some can be blamed on bloat, but only about two or three of those eight. I'm terribly frustrated because it took me FOREVER to get back down to the 120s, and I screwed it up. I'm writing this opus not so you guys will be my cheerleaders, but so I'll be held accountable for what I do. I really really really don't want to end up where I was this time last year. Please share with me your routines and any ideas you have for leaning out. I want to get back on track. And thanks so much for reading my extremely self-absorbed post. It's not about vanity for me but health. I'm only 5'2" and I tend to gain A LOT of weight with babies (55 pounds per child), and I don't want to head into another pregnancy (if we are so blessed) weighing this much. Again, sorry for the boring self-absorbed rant... I'm just SO down about it today.

Lainie--Hope you have fun this morning sipping coffee with your friend. Congrats on the STS order. I think I'm going to have to pass on it. Though it sounds like lots of fun!!!
Shannon--Enjoy your rest day/haircut day. Send some of that fitness obsessiveness my way!!!
Judy--Have fun on your golf weekend!!
Deb--Congrats on the STS order and the weight loss!!! You rock!
Shelley--Feel better soon!!
Robin--Have fun doing grocerymax. I agree with the time of year and tight funds. That's the number one reason why I'm not getting STS.

Happy Humpday, all!

Today I'll be taking a break from 4DS to add in an extra day of cardio. I was thinking of doing Amy Bento's Kickbox Extreme, but may do Cathe's KPC since it's been ages since I've done that. I just finished my yummy breakfast of some oatmeal, with Lean Dessert Banana Nut protein powder and Udo's Choice mixed in. I'm savoring my morning nonfat latte; the last couple of months, I've been trying to just have one cup of coffee a day, so I've got to savor it and make it last!

Deb -- Hooray for your melting this week! That is just fantastic!!! What's your secret for so much melting in just one week?! You have to post photos of your quilts. I'd love to see them, and I'm sure everyone else would, too! Oh -- I was actually the first order # for STS. Isn't that exciting?

Robin -- I know what you mean about this time of year and all those bills! Will it be another crazy day at work today? How great that your DH took the magazine to work to share that tuna article. It was pretty interesting. I made the mushroom pasta last night, and it was tasty, but my DH thought it was a little bland. I somehow forgot to buy parmesan cheese, so substituted mozzarella, which may have been what did it. Please post some photos of your pies when you make them! Baked goods are my downfall. Sigh!

Shelley -- You poor thing! Sending {{{HUGS}}} and good thoughts your way so that cold disappears quickly!

Judy -- Have fun on your golf trip!

Shannon -- I know what you mean about obsessing. I'm doing the same thing right now, and I need to stop. What do you usually do to help? I think part of my problem is that I'm still on vacation, so I have too much time on my hands. I'm hoping that when I go back to teaching next week, I'll be able to let go a bit.

Tneah -- Yes, my darling! That was so funny that Lainie thought you were referring to our special night! That made me laugh! How is the DH doing? Are you still keeping that cold away? Any news from the trainer? Has he gotten back to you yet about your photos? Yes, Temecula is just about an hour north of San Diego, so how great that you'll be able to meet with him in person.

TK -- What workout will you be doing today? Have you started on those legwarmers yet?!;-) Wouldn't it be fun it we all went on a Cathe roadtrip and all wore legwarmers? We'd be so hip!

Lainie -- Have fun doing Kickbox today! Are you feeling better? How are you like the 4DS rotation so far? I ended up pre-ordering those two new Amy B. workouts yesterday, so thanks for sending me the info! Have fun at coffee!

Emily -- Those scrapbook layouts are so fantastic! You look so cute in those photos!

Michele -- Glad that things went alright with your sister yesterday and that she didn't have to deal with her boss directly. And what about that DH of yours?! You are so nice to pack for him, too! I hope he appreciates you!

Stephanie -- Sending {{{HUGS}}} your way! You do not sound self-absorbed at all! It's so hard to step back from the number on the scale and to not obsess about how much we weigh. Besides, you still sound so tiny! What has helped me stay on track is counting my calories on Self magazine's website (www.selfdietclub.com). It's free if you have a subscription, but, if you don't, I know that there are other free on-line sites out there. (It's a bit of a pain since I try to log everything right after I eat it, but it really helps me see where I'm at for the day.) I've also found that it's easier to lose weight when I do weight workouts 3x/week and cardio 2 or 3x/week. When I am super conscious about increasing my protein intake, I also find it easier to lose weight. HTH!

Good morning Melter's!!

It seems like forever since I've checked in and I've missed you rascals!

My pre-sale # is 17792 :D

OMG I haven't worked out since, I want to say, last Wednesday or Thursday  ;( . I cannot...CANNOT miss another workout today! I won't be weighing in tomorrow, that's for sure. And though my meals have been perfectly clean, I've had some between meal treats that ruined everything. That's the one good thing about DH being away -- it's much easier to avoid the junk! I made a huge pot of soup Monday with all kinds of beans and lentils and I'll be eating that everyday.

Robin - LOl -- oh yeah, I very nearly killed my DH. He was supposed to take part in a meeting in Washington, DC via conference call, but since his research is the topic of discussion they felt, at the last minute, that he should be there in person.

I love grocery shopping, since it is the only time I get to spend $$ lately. ROTFLMAO!!!! As for the pre-sale, I agree that the timing is regrettable, but this project sounds like a huge undertaking and I have a feeling that it will run for several months at the current price. I think you'll have plenty of time to take advantage of it ;)

Deb - ^^^5's on your weight loss!! I love Gym Styles, too, and I plan to include it in my 16 week rotation -- the rotation that I need to re-start today :p

Shelley - I'm so sorry you're sick. Yes, yes, rest today and eat soup! Soup is so full of antioxidants and it's very good for what ails you ;) . I wish I could bring you a giant tub of my soup -- I have enough for an army!

Judy - Have fun on your golf weekend!! And ^^^5's for you for your weight loss!

Cuz - I'm sending vibes your way as you reassess your exercise habits/goals. Its great that you're on top of it and recognized the pattern before it takes hold of you. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that you weren't able to workout for such a long time? I have no doubt that you'll be able to keep it all under control :*

Lainie - Thank you again for doing all that work on the compendium! What would we do without all your wonderful worksheets, and now the compendium updates!? You're so kind to share it all with us. Have fun at coffee with "Mother". Yeah, that would be hard for me, too. Actually, at my age, it seems like authority figures are getting younger every day

Stephanie - Don't worry about seeming self absorbed -- you aren't at all. This forum is supposed to be a place where we come for support and inspiration, so take advantage of it! I would suggest that you avoid weighing yourself every day and cutting that back to once a week, especially since you can gain or lose 2 or 3 pounds from one day to the next, and even within the same day!! Don't let the scale rule your world. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your attempt to conceive again. That's so exciting!

tneah - WOO HOO and ^^^5's for hiring a trainer!! I can't wait to hear all about it. And I agree with the general consensus that you are HOT already!! I've thought about hiring a trainer. I used a PT for years but it got to be too expensive. I have to admit there's nothing like checking in with a PT to keep you accountable!

TK - I don't do any of the cardio on the 4DS workouts  :p . When I did Cathe's 4DS rotation I subbed all the cardio segments with either Cardio Coach or a walking DVD and I still had great results with it.

ETA Leanne - WOO HOO! You kicked off the pre-sale with the first order!! Yours will be the very first order they fill -- that's awesome!! Your breakfast sounds yummy. Your jewelry is so beautiful. I don't know how my eyes would hold up, but I would probably have trouble handling the beads. The older I get the less dexterity I seem to have and I'm constantly dropping things. I have a little arthritis in my fingers and I can't even do the cross stitch that I used to enjoy so much.

I'm off to run some errands. There's a computer store down the street that's going out of business and they're having a huge sale. I'm going to see if they have MS Office 2004 for Mac. My DH needs Word because he writes, and Power Point for his presentations. He makes a ton of slides for conferences and such.

P.S. Do any of you Mac users know why I can't post to a forum with Mozilla? I always used Mozilla with my PC and I like it so much better than Safari, but I haven't been able to post when I use it. It's the strangest thing -- I can log in to the forum, I can bring up the window to reply to a post, but the minute I click on the "Post Message" button it takes me back to the log in page!?

Also, for those of you who switched from a PC to a Mac, how did you transfer your files? We saw a program called "Move2Mac", but it costs about $40 and it has terrible reviews. Can you move everything with an ethernet connection -- I mean everything, including bookmarks? TIA for your help :*

Happy Humpy Day:7

I have 15 people in for a meeting this AM, so not time for personals, BBL!!!:)

Why do I forget to check in here??? This whole Check-Ins forum is waaaaaay down on the list and I just forget to come here. I'm sorry! Hope y'all can forgive me. The good news is that I'm back on the melting track. I think I was just bloated last week. I think I'm bloated a LOT. :p

Robin, MRSA scares the crap outta me. But you're right, bacteria and viruses have been mutating for eons and we're still here (humans in general).

Deb, way to go with the weight loss!!! :D

Shelley, GET BETTER NOW!!! ;)

Judy, have fun on your golf weekend!

Shannon, good for you catching yourself before you fall into obsessive mode. :)

Lainie, have fun with that can of whoopass! ;)

Stephanie, I don't have any advice on leaning out, as I am not lean. But I understand how you feel. The holidays are awful for our waistlines. Don't be too hard on yourself - you will get to where you want to be, it just takes time. And we're here for you every step of the way. :) Or should that be, every step of the weigh??? ;)

Leanne, thanks for the scrapbook compliments! :) Have fun with your kickboxing!

Michele, I agree completely about it being easier to avoid junk when DH is away. DHs ruin everything. :p As for Mozilla... it's not the best browser for Mac. I find that Firefox is the best, and Safari takes a close 2nd. Get thyself some Firefox!!! :D As for the transition from PC to Mac... you can probably use an ethernet connection - just change your networking settings on the PC so that the files in question are available on the network for you to copy. Bookmarks, I don't know. Also, don't know if you know but they're coming out with brand new Microsoft Office for Mac. 2004 is the old version, I think (I have that one). If you can wait for the new one, I would do that! :D

Alright, it's time for lunch... I'll try to bbl!

Hi melters. Today was supposed to be a rest day but since I took the rest day on Sunday I did 4DS HIS today. I do like the cardio in HIS better than LIS.

Robin: MRSA has been getting lots of press lately. After DH having 2 bouts with it this past year I've learned a lot more than I wanted to know about it. Knock wood, DH hasn't had any problems with it since September. Hopefully we won't see it again any time soon.

Deb: Nice job on the melting! Re the invoice number. I was 17,788. I just happened to be up on Fri night when I saw Lainie's post in OD, so my order went in at 1:10 am.

Judy: Enjoy your golf day. Where are you going to golf? We're planning a golf trip for the fall sometime but we haven't made up our minds where we're going yet.

Shannon: Gym Styles are great aren't they? Are you doing a rotation with them now?

Stephanie: I hear ya about the weight. I can (and have a couple times) 'click up a ten' during my annual two week vacation. It's just not fair is it?

Leanne: You're #1, you're #1! You were so quick on the pre-sale. Were you practicing signing up for the next road trip? It filled up in three minutes last year. I was very lucky to have been on top of it and got in. BTW, eBay has legwarmers if you're itching to join the 'in' crowd.:D

Michele: After seeing all the other comments about 4DS cardio I guess I'm not alone!

Emily: Yesterday I noticed you hadn't posted in a while. Glad to see you back!

Hey guys,

I snuck away from the "gorilla" marketing group meeting.:) Have you all seen the commercial for Zantrex-3? Or Relacore? Thats us! I do not use the Zantrex 3, it has too much caffeine, the Relacore is pretty good for keeping you "mellow" in times of stress I guess, alot of people like the stuff-good thing, it helps pay the bills.;) I had to order 10 pizza's! Eek. Nothing like having that temptation lying around. Although I did order the veggie one that comes without cheese-just veggies, sauce and crust, whatta you all think of that? Clean?

I have not heard back from Mr. Trainer yet, I wrote them this morning wondering what to do next. I am being impatient I know.

Shannon, I got your email and wrote you back. I hope it wasn't too long, I can get rather chatty!;)

Shelley, soup, rest, a humidifier might bring some relief to your clogged nose as well.

Robin, that strain of bacteria sounds nasty, the testing sounds nasty too. What an interesting job you have, I know I have said it a bunch! When is your operation?

Deb, way to melt off those pesky three pounds. I hate water weight gain, I think your poundage found a home on my belly this am.:7 I don't know why I just laughed, its so funny how one day you feel all lean and great, the next, you can look like you swallowed a soccer ball or something.

Stephanie, you can do it girl. Its all about being consistent and for me, watching my portions, I have the DietMinder book, and write it all down, have been doing it for over a week now. It seems to help some, I am getting lazier about it this week.

TK, I actually like the 4DS LIS, and do not like the HIS-it is sooo hard, I feel like a total idiot when attempting it. :7

Lainie, open up that can of whoop-arse woman! Are you a "Stone Cold Steve Austin" fan? I used to watch him all the time--with a can of beer balanced on my belly, a shotgun by the door, and my dawg layin' at my feet.:7 No, seriously, I loved him and "The Rock".

Leanne, you were number one-yeah! I think you, Shannon and myself all need to give ourselves a break from obsessing, its easy to do isn't it?

Emily! Hey there, nice to see ya around!

Judy, have fun golfing. I have tried once with my father who is a very avid, very good golfer and wound up "plowing the earth" with my golf club every time I tried to hit the ball:p

Michele, wish I could help with the MAC, but our IT guys from work did all the hard stuff with mine, I didn't have to do anything-thank goodness!

I walked on the treadmill with my "shoes made of lead" this morning instead of doing the bike interval thing that was on the rotation, I just didn't feel like it! I should sell my spin bike. Any takers? I just do not enjoy it by myself-I prefer the classes by far so I can "compete" with everyone in the class. OK, off to see the dentist, I have veneers and woke up this morning with a piece of one of my molars sitting in my mouth! Its a small chip, but I need to get it fixed. Talk at everyone later!

Hi Melters - is this afternoon over yet? No? Drat. :p

I brought peanut butter to work, and I sure have enjoyed it. And today I really don't care about the fat. I'll worry about melting later. If I worry at all. I still do want to see if I can tweak my diet, but I'm not sure I'll make melting an official goal. It's one of those things that's too easy for me to obsess about. Can I still hang out here though? Please? :7

Lanie - I hope you had a good visit with your friend and a kick-butt workout!

Stephanie - I sure don't have any great tips for leaning out, since I can't even stick to my own plan. :p But honestly, the thing that works best for me is to cut back on desserts. I give myself one a week. It's enough to make me happy, but not enough to make me feel guilty.

Leanne - Last night, when I realized I was about ready to get way too obsessive, I just took a step back and really LOOKED at myself. And then I asked why I thought I needed to do all the things I was thinking of doing. Most of them I do not need to do to stay healthy. And I also remembered what happened the last time I obsessed - that time, with too much exercise. I screwed up my knees! Good luck, and don't be too hard on yourself. Take it slow and steady.

Cuz - did you work out today? Just remember how great you've been doing, and that it'll be so much easier to get back into the swing of it now! No, I don't think my situation is because of not being able to work out... a lot of it is just seeing what everyone else is doing, and thinking I need to do it too. Crazy, huh?

Emily - there's nothing to forgive! I'm glad to see you, no matter what time of the day you check in. So... see you tomorrow, right???

TK - yeah, I love the Gym Styles. I'm not doing a GS rotation, but I am doing them all this week.

I didn't get to the grocery store. DD called and asked me to pick up the baby at the sitter. DD has class until 5 on Wed. and the sitter doesn't want to keep him that late. I'm off tomorrow, so that's when it will have to get done. The trouble is, I was going to pick up something for dinner. I guess we'll have to eat out - darn. I was going to try to be good today, and just cheat with a glass of wine or two, but when I got home, tired and generally frustrated, I gave in to the munchies. Oh well, I know I can get back on line tomorrow.

Shannon, you can hang out here as long as you like. I don't know if I'm ever going to officially melt either. I keep going up and down with the same 2-4 pounds. I think you are wonderfully sane to see yourself falling into old patterns and stopping before things get out of hand. Now, if only I could do that with my emotional binges. At least the binges I have now are nothing like the old days, and most of the stuff I'm, well, stuffing myself with, are pretty healthy.

tneah, yes, my job is pretty great, but we have too much new stuff going on lately for this old dog. And our volumes have been increasing for a couple years now. Time to ask for more staff. Not more Staph. Nyuck, nyuck, microbiologist humor. Surgery is Jan 29.

TK, the really amazing thing we've discovered about MRSA is that none of us are carrying it! We swabbed our own noses to use as test specimens and we are all negative. So it can't be too catching, since we practically swim in it.

Emily, I'm glad you remembered us. And I hear from a reliable source that you are a genius.

Michele, I'm kind of hoping the pre-sale prices last until I have my DH softened up and our finances are in better shape. Someone has volunteered to help us at work Sat, but my coworker and I are on our own Sunday, so there is some potential for more overtime.

Leanne, last night DD made the tomato stuffed meatballs for dinner. They were pretty tasty, but I still don't know if they are really "clean." Of course, I didn't use ground sirloin. I used the regular old ground beef from my freezer. I should try to cut back my coffee intake. I'm worried about my surgery day. No coffee in the morning, I don't have to be at the hospital until 9, the surgery may take a couple hours, then an hour or more before they send me home. I can already feel a caffiene withdrawal headache.

Stephanie, please don't feel you need to apologize for posting your feelings here. We've all been there. Every day is a new day...

Judy, ya gotta love a weekend that starts on Wednesday!

Shelley, are you feeling any better now?

DH just called. DD went to pick him up. His beat up old VW is acting funny, so he pulled over about 3 miles from home. Goody, another expense! See you tomorrow.

Hi all,

Robin -- Oh no! I hope DH's car isn't going to need any major repairs! Maybe you can overload on caffeine the day before the surgery to make up for any headaches that day!;-) If only it would work that way! Glad to hear that the meatballs turned out to be tasty. I was thinking of trying them with some veggie "meat" since I'm squeamish about cooking real meat. I'm a pseudo-vegetarian, in that I'll eat chicken only if someone else cooks it! You'll get back on track with that eating soon!

Tneah -- Thanks again so much for Monica's book. I didn't get a chance to start reading it yet since I ended up having to do some work, but I'm hoping to start it soon. Those products sound familiar. Do you and your DH manufacture health products? It sounds interesting! And don't try to resist that pizza too much!

Shannon -- It sounds like you're feeling better this afternoon and more hopeful! Let's all work on this non-obsessing together! Remember, too, that PB is *good* fat. I seriously eat some everyday. That, or almond butter. YUM!

Michele -- I don't know much about using Mozilla, but I second Emily's suggestion of using Firefox as your browser. It works so much better with Macs!

TK -- Legwarmers on Ebay, huh? I may need to check those out! ;-)

Hey ladies...

I'm just popping in to let you know that I'm still alive. I'm feeling a bit better this evening. A bit more energy. I imagine I'll head back to work tomorrow, unless I take a turn for the worse or something.

I'll be back tomorrow with personals. Have a great evening.
