How often do you get a massage?

Hi Cathe! I know the importance of stretching and I've been trying really hard to make it a more highlighted part of my workout regime but I always sort of feel that when I get a massage, they just get in so much deeper than I ever could with stretching. Especially, as of late (I say that, but I haven't gotten on in months I realize), I've shifted from deep tissue to thai yoga and now I'm not sure if I'll ever go back. Do you get massages? And if so, how often and what kind? Is it because of your athletic training or is it for mental destressing?

Thanks in advance!

bump! bump! I am curious about this too. I get a massage about once a month. My therapist is able to stretch some things in ways that I can't do on my own. Also he can tell me if muscles are tight, when I haven't even consciously realized it yet. This seems helpful. Plus I just read that Bob Hope had a massage *every day* and he lived to be over 100 :)

Not often enough!!!! I would like to know also. I have a friend who gets them weekly & one who does them bi-weekly. Maybe I'll ask one of them "why" & see what they say & let you guys know.
For me it's not just the cost but a time issue - I have lady I like really well (massage therapist that is) but her hrs don't really coincide with mine. She always tells me she will come in the office in the evening but I feel like I would be imposing!
