How often do you eat?

Just wondering how often everybody here eats. Three times a day, five? There is so mucb conflicting info out there. I have tried eating five times a day but end up eating way too much so am now trying just eating three times a day. So I was just interested in what everybody else does.

I eat about 6x a day....try to eat something every 3 to 4 hours, never allowing myself to get hungry.
But, be aware that 3x a day are small healthy "clean" snacks, such as:
fruit, yogurt, small handful of nuts, etc.
My biggest change has been downsizing my lunch and dinner and not having some kind of dessert for dinner (lowfat ice cream, yogurt bar, etc.), but now that I've been eating like this for a month, it is so much easier to do so....and my appetite has been drastically reduced.
So for dinner, I make sure that my protein is around 3 to 4 ounces
(I used to eat up to 8oz. easily)
and my complex carb is only the size of a "tennis ball"
I've also been eating grapefruit after dinner and I really like it!!!
But, of course I do not do this every day of my life. "Life" does get in the way at times, and I am flexible (a much better word than "cheat").
I bought Tosca Reno's book, The Eat Clean Diet and it has really helped me.

What would seem like constantly.

Generally 5-6 times a day. I can't eat three big meals, it just doesn't work for me, so I graze and eat small meals with snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon and sometimes a little something after my workout in the evening.
 
I find that what works for me is eating 6 times a day, about 3 hours in between meals/snacks. I eat "clean" as much as possible, and eating often helps me in so many ways throughout the day. Ironically, it seems that when I do stick to 6 times a day, I have no problems sticking with 1400-1500 calories per day because I'm not ravenous at mealtime.

Normally 6x per day.

Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack.

As with the others who eat several times a day, my meals are much smaller then if I were to eat only 3x per day.
 
When I am not in a "binge" mode, I eat 6 small meals.. they could be smaller, especially dinner.. I need to work on my portion size for this meal!

Usually I eat 3 meals per day and three snacks. The most important thing for a successful physique transformation is to listen to your body and apply a few sound nutrition principles.

It really depends what you are trying to achieve.

4 X a day - this is a very individual thing. I could go to 5 X, but you also have to fit it into your lifestyle, work schedule, etc.
 
About 5. But #2 and #4 are VERY small. Just a snack - like a Special K Protein Snack Bar for one and a bowl of fruit for the other.
 
lol, shelley, i feel like i'm eating constantly also :)

i eat about 6x a day, but i am working on balancing those out into six small meals. right now it's definitely 3 bigger meals and two snacks. i need to scale down the meals and up the ante on the snacks. i am also eating my own version of clean, which is essentially clean eating with some kashi products thrown in and a protein shake about every other day.
 
I am in the minority here. I just can't eat 6x a day. I eat 3 meals and no snacks. I will eat a snack if I have had a really hard w/out. Usually just a small handful of peanuts.

I think one of the keys to eating 5 times a day is to take two of your normal 'three-meals-a-day' meals and break them into two parts, saving the 2nd part for a snack.

I've also heard that the body can't process more than about 500 calories at once, so eating more than that at one meal can lead to weight gain as the body stores what it can't process as fat. I'm sure it varies from person to person.
 
Well this is a tough question for me because....I love food!

I am an Italian! :)

I try to eat a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.

I have one snack in between breakfast and lunch and one snack between lunch and dinner like most people seem to do.

After dinner, I stop. I try not to have any desserts. :(

I usually eat 7x a day. This is because of my blood sugar levels, or insulin resistance, or something. I gotta eat every 2 to 3 hours, or I'm a mess. I eat more frequently and in larger amounts during the first part of the day, then stretch a bit longer between meals going into the evening.

I've been eating clean for three weeks, which is doing wonders to regulate my blood sugar levels. Forget trying to lose weight--it's a miracle that I feel as "normal" as I do! I'm sold!

Now, if I could just pop a pill for that blood sugar, instead of having to prepare something to eat so frequently, that would be helpful!

It depends on how busy I get,but during the week, every three hours is pretty normal for me.
If however I eat more at one of the mini-meals than I should, I do not eat until I am hungry again. I really try and listen to the ole body on this one.
I do know if I am eating good and skipping the sugar, then I get hungry every few hours!:9
 
I try to eat about every 3-4 hrs, and the number of meals all depends on how long I'm up and out of bed (I work nights, so coming off my schedule, I'm usually only up for about 8 hrs or so). They are only small snack-sized meals consisting of about 30g of protein each with some adding fruit and veggies, and others adding veggies and healthy fat.
 
I eat 5-6 times a day. Each time the calorie intake is between 200-300 calories and I'm always completely satisfied.
