How much water do you drink each day?

Hi,

New Cathlete here! I just discovered Cathe's workouts only a few months ago. I love their intensity, but I sweat buckets and I want to make sure I am drinking enough water each day to stay hydrated.

I was wondering how many oz of water some of the other Cathletes drink each day? More than the standard recommendation of 64 oz?

I have a bad habit of not drinking enough water. I just never really feel thirsty . It's rare that I will down 64oz of water each day -- unless I'm scheduled for an ultrasound ;). While I'm working out though, if it happens to be intense cardio or endurance weight-work, I probably go through about 500ml-1L of water.

I drink about 18 cups a day. Some of that is coffee or milk. If I don't get at least 12 in, I wake up with dry lips and I feel nathargic.

So long as I'm not dry or puffy (a sure sign of dehydration) I'm ok. I tend to drink a liter per hour of Cathe and then I often drink afterwards. I'm not counting them the rest of the day, I drink because I want to. Do you have headaches or feel badly?

I found a hydration calculator on line that suggested I should get 80z of water from various sources. I get some water in the vegetables I eat, plus I drink 2-3 mugs of green tea a day. But I sometimes wonder if the high intensity workouts I do mean that I should get even more.

I don't feel badly, but I did notice (probably in early Oct) that I wasn't really going to the bathroom that much at all during the day, which made me wonder if I was becoming dehydrated even though I wasn't necessarily thirsty. I have had a few headaches recently, but didn't make the connection.

As for drinking during workouts, I get in 1-2 8 oz glasses of water.

I think everybody's so different in this regard. I drink way more than 64 oz and I always have, although I'm not sure why. I drink a lot on days I don't work out, too. I've heard a good rule of thumb is that if your urine is pale yellow, you're fine, but it's it's darker yellow you may need to drink more. Of course, next year there will be a new rule....

I typically drink 96 oz of water a day. That's not including what I drink when taking vitamins and supplements or my tea, which I usually have a cup a day during the week. I have the same rule of thumb that Trixoo has. :)

I have a one liter drinking bottle at school. I set a timer for 45 minutes and then drink about 10 big sips each time. I can drink one full bottle that way. it's kind of cute because my students now remind me to set the timer and ask, "did you drink your water today'?

Thanks for the great idea! I find it really hard to drink throughout the day. It's a bad habit I've been trying to break for years. It's especially important since I'm prone to UTI's :(.

Your students are super cute BTW :).

Too much. Gallons - probably 2 1/2 - 3, because I really LIKE water. Odd I know. That means that I tend to dilute my electrolytes - hence the too much.
