Shannon,
I was on the pill for 12 years (Ortho-Novum 7-7-7). I got off of the pill in October of 2004, and I got pregnant in December of 2005, so it took us about 14 months to conceive. The month that I finally got pregnant I used an ovulation kit, which helped us pinpoint my most fertile days. (I was very in tune with my body and always thought that I knew when I was ovulating, but I do believe that the kit helped.)
I began to get very frustrated during that 14 months because it seemed as if everyone I knew was getting pregnant, and doing so much quicker than we were. If it doesn't happen immediately, try not to get discouraged. Also, if you do start feeling overly stressed, talked to your doctor about it.
Congratulations on your wonderful decision to try for a baby. I think that decision in and of itself is a reason to celebrate!
Good Luck!
