How Long?

How long did it take you to get prego after getting off the pill? I am on my last week taking the pill and then I am stopping. I have heard that 85% of women get prego in one year after stopping the pill. I sure do hope that is my case.

TIA,
Shannon:)

Once we started trying it took about 8 months the first time, 6 months the second time. Get the book taking charge of your fertility. It is a great guide for timing intercourse to get pregnant.

With my first it took 4 months and 5 months with my second. I second the recommendation for the book Taking Charge of your Fertility. I started using it with my second pregnancy and got pregnant within the first month of following the book.

My Dr. advised me to be off the pill 3 months before trying. Went off the pill in May, started trying in September and got pregnant immediately. Good luck to you!

I don't remember but I just want to tell you that the book Taking Charge of your Fertility is a must have. I got pregnant the first month after reading the book. I bought mine off half.com. Good luck with everything.

HI! Good luck to you.
It took 5 months with my first. But I wasn't timing anything or paying attention. We had fun with it!!
Then I wanted to have #2 real close in age but was clueless as to how long it would take. Well, I got prego right away when we decided not to be careful;-)
Everyone is different. Don't stress! Have fun:D

We started "trying" the first month after I went off the pill - my doctor said that sometimes you can get pregnant right away. That wasn't the case for us - it took us 5 months to get pregnant. It felt like an eternity at the time, but doesn't seem so bad now. Plus, my cycle was very irregular (one of the reasons I went on the pill in the first place), so figuring out the best time to conceive was almost impossible.

Shannon,

I was on the pill for 12 years (Ortho-Novum 7-7-7). I got off of the pill in October of 2004, and I got pregnant in December of 2005, so it took us about 14 months to conceive. The month that I finally got pregnant I used an ovulation kit, which helped us pinpoint my most fertile days. (I was very in tune with my body and always thought that I knew when I was ovulating, but I do believe that the kit helped.)

I began to get very frustrated during that 14 months because it seemed as if everyone I knew was getting pregnant, and doing so much quicker than we were. If it doesn't happen immediately, try not to get discouraged. Also, if you do start feeling overly stressed, talked to your doctor about it.

Congratulations on your wonderful decision to try for a baby. I think that decision in and of itself is a reason to celebrate!

Good Luck!
