How long to get pregnant?

I have a question. How long did it take you to get pregnant when you went off birth control? I have heard mixed things. Some people say your hormones go crazy and you are more fertile right away and others say it takes a while for the hormones to leave your body and for you to begin ovulating again.

After I got off the pill it took me 3 months to get pregnant. I took the pill for about 5 years. I probably could have gotten pregnant sooner if I would have known when I was ovulating.

However, a friend of mine got pregnant the same month got off the pill. I think that everyone's body is different.

I went off of the pill in November of 2001 and got pregnant in April 2002. We used an alternate means of birth control since my doctor said they like to see 3 normal periods return before attempting pregnancy so that is what we did. So, after stopping all means of birth control and then being really relaxed about the getting pregnant thing, it happened in about 3 months. It wasn't like we were having sex 7 times a week in a desperate attempt to get pregnant. We just let nature takes its course and decide when it was right.

I was on the pill for about 6 years and then when I stopped taking it I got pregnant right away. I ended up miscarrying at 14.5 weeks though. The doctor said it could have been because I became pregnant right away without having at least one normal cycle. He recommended having 3 cycles after stopping the pill. HTH :)

4 months once we started working on it. I had been on the pill for 18 years, and then, like Beets, my doctor wanted me to have a few normal cycles before starting to try. She said there is a pretty high chance of miscarriage if the endometrium is not built up enough to support a developing baby. It took nearly 6 months of none-to-very-light periods for my body to get back to normal.

I was on the pill for 4 years and was off it for a year and a half before we conceived. I think the delay was mainly from not knowing when I was ovulating, and missing the day each time!
But now I'm 11-12 weeks along (depending on if you ask my Dr or Babycenter.com) so just about out of first trimester!
