I have several sets of dumbells that pretty much sit on the floor all the time, but I'd like to have something that holds or stacks them. The ones that I have seen are $$$$! Anyone have suggestions?
I have a vertical dumbbell rack that holds six sets of dumbbells from 5-20 pounds. Takes up only about one square foot (or so) of floor space, too. It cost me about $100 or so, about 9 years ago. Got it at a gym equipment store.
If there is a bedin the room, slide them under the bed. If there is something with a bottom shelf, on that bottom shelf. If there is a side table, under that table. Fiddle around and you will find ways to stack them.
I use a dumbell tree that holds 4 sets of weights and I tuck 2 more sets underneath it. I had space issues when I lived in a 1 bedroom apt so this was perfect to help keep the weights from being part of the decor in my livingroom.
I found mine in Sports Authority and it was super cheap (like $15 - $20bucks) since it only holds 4 sets of weights it wasn't very popular and had about an inch of dust on the box. I also had to really dig for it.
You may be able to find a good tree on craigslist in your area too so you won't have to pay shipping fee's which can be pretty high.

I got the same rack but I needed to hit Home Depot because the rack was made in Europe and required a European sized (metric) tool to put together. Once I did that everything was cool. My Reebok db rack is super sturdy and gets plenty of use.
