How do you keep your step from sliding?

Hi All,
I am considering getting laminate floors for my workout room and was wondering if those who have the same have a problem with the step sliding. I would prefer not to get a rubber mat so wanted to know if it stays in place or not. Thanks.

I used to workout on hardwoods that were very slick, so I put my yoga stickymat under the step. That kept it from sliding around and I had not much excess sticking out from under the step.

Another option that I've heard from some people is to buy the interlocking alphabet letters like the kids have, once you lock them all together, you get a nice size workout area (since you don't want to slide around either!)

I have laminate flooring and always have put a yoga mat under mostly to protect the floor. But the step doesn't slide either!

Great idea Gisela.

In the past, I've used the stuff that is put under glass table tops so that they don't slide. I don't know what it is called. It is like a cork/foam strip. I stuck it to the four corners at the bottom of the step.

I use weather stripping. One side is adhesive, the other rubber and you can buy it cheap in many different widths. I just tape it to the underside of the step on all 4 sides. It does eventually need to be replaced but the stuff is pretty cheap. I've had my step for a few years and have replaced the weather stripping 2 or 3 times.

Thanks Ladies,
These are all good ideas! Now that I know I have options, I'm definitely going to consider wood floors.:)

I put either 15 pound dumb bells or plates inside the risers and that seems to keep the step from slipping around on me.

Just another thought for you.

:)
