How do I use Stretchmax?

Hi All

Sorry if I sound ignorant but when is it most advisable to use any of the segments from SM? Is this DVD only safe when used after a thorough warm up or workout or can I just go straight into a segment?

Thanks for any advice.

Hey jacqueline,

I am curious about the same thing. I would do it on a off day where I am doing just stretch, but I would not warm up. My SIL said she would warmup before starting hers. It hasn't been said which to do as far as I know. I hope someone could give an answer, because I have wondered the same thing.

Cathe states that SM should be used after a warm-up (5-10 minutes of walkiing or marching in place---boring as it is!-would work). The segments would also be good to use after another workout, so you wouldn't have to think about the warm-up.

You should never stretch a "cold" muscle, as it could lead to injury. That's why all good workouts have 5-10 minutes of rythmic movement before the stretch.

Never knew that, Kathryn. I stand corrected. Thank you.

Though I must admit that even now, if I ever do stretch max with out working out beforehand, I will probably never think to do a warm up first...

For a stretch workout, I think any activity that raises your heart rate and has you moving your muscles could count, such as walking briskly through the mall, or doing outdoor tasks that require moving aroud (not just digging a hole for a petunia, but raking, shoveling, bending and lifting, etc.). And doing active housework (again, not just loading the dishwasher or standing at the sink washing dishes, but picking up laundry and going up and down stairs to load that laundry in the washer/dryer). These activities are certainly as active and walking in place.
