How come women VB players

play almost naked but the men play in long shorts and don't even take their shirts off?

I mean the girls look fantastic....but it just doesn't seem fair!
 
I haven't seen the guys play, but can you imagine having sand get inside your clothing? In addition to having to play while sweaty?

I would be they guys have to keep shirts on just for the "respectfulness" - though guess that doesn't make too much sense since the swimmers can go shirtless.

I just know that playing VB with sweaty clothing is the pits - haven't played much beach ball, but it is a drag indoors !
 
The last time I saw a male VB match (pre-Olympics) the men had no shirts on.

And I lllliked it. :)

And I wholeheartedly support long shorts for men. I don't think short shorts or speedos would do it for me.
 
How funny! We just turned the TV on and there were the women volleyball players in their "swimsuits". I turned to DH and said, "Why do they have to play in their bathing suits?" He insisted they were not swimsuits, but "workout clothes". I beg to differ. There really is no reason I can think of they have to be dressed like that. It's weird.
 
For a long time, the outfits were responsible for the women not being taken seriously. I mean, beach volleyball... it doesn't sound like a serious sport. But since the women playing now are so dangerous and smart I have to assume they know something we don't. What I couldn't get over last night was the really ugly sun damage one player had all over her face. She must really love her sport to keep risking all that.
