Good grief!! I just finished Insanity Pure Cardio for the first time!!! I had no idea what I was in for! It wasn't until the timer kept giong and going and they weren't stopping!! Not an interval workout much to my surprise!!:p Just straight through cardio! EVERY team member did take a quick break here and there so that was good to see. Here I thought, 'oh it's a 'short' workout.... "ONLY" 38 minutes! That was the LONGEST 38 minutes, let me tell you! :p Why didn't anybody warn me!!?! huh? huh? huh?:D

Yeah, I call that format "One Long String of Pain". Now that you've popped your cherry with it, you're golden.

I completed a two month Insanity rotation last year. Now I just do one or two Insanity workouts weekly. Glad that you have joined the Insane!. Now I am waiting for next year when Shaun releases his new Asylum workouts!

Welcome to the wild world of Insanatinas..... we are a die hard cardio maniac bunch that love what Shaun T offers up and cannot wait to get Asylum!!!!

Pure Cardio is my second favorite Insanity workout...a close second behind Max Cardio Conditioning (wait till you try it...it's the same set up as Pure Cardio, only longer!!).

I think it's because I hate repeating exercises, and with those two workouts I can never remember which one is coming up next. So it's always like a happy surprise - oh boy, push up jacks!! (okay, kidding on that part). :)

Just want to chime in that I'm also working my way through Insanity. I'm starting week 4 and wow, I love these workouts. I've been happily surprised though that I can make it through these workouts pretty well and I give Cathe all the credit for my cardio endurance!!!

I have to say, I do miss the weights though and am trying to figure out how I can combine the two. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Steph

Hi Steph!

I'm in week 5, so just a tiny bit ahead of you. I've been trying to hit my whole body with weights once per week, selecting from Push and Pull, Supersets, PLB, PUB and 4DS. I keep the weight workouts short (30-50 minutes) so I select workouts/premixes as appropriate. On my Insanity day off, I do weights.

That's a good idea Stebby, I hadn't thought of that. I've been kicking around the idea of combing STS with Insanity. Would that be too insane? :) I thought maybe I could use Insanity for the cardio days in Cathe's rotation instead of Shock Cardio. What do you all think? I wouldn't start this until I've made it all the way through Insanity. BTW, my husband is two weeks ahead and month 2 looks like I may be found dead on the basement floor afterwards. Yikes!!!

Hi Stephie! I am actually doing this right now with great results! I did the Shock Cardios during Meso 1, but I felt like I wanted to take on the challenge of Insanity (I had the workouts sitting on my shelf for months), so I started doing them on my cardio days. I don't think I would have been able to do Insanity in Meso 1, as I was pretty tired from the STS weights then, but now, in Meso 2, I have a lot more stamina. I am just using the regular Insanity workouts 3X/week, not the "recovery" workouts. I am also alternating Insane abs and P90X Abs with some Cathe abs thrown in for variety.

I am in my 7th week of Meso 2 and 4th week of Insanity. I plan on doing the shorter Insanity workouts until I finish Meso 2, taking a week off, and then doing Meso 3 with the longer Insanities.

Personally, I know I would burn out quickly on Insanity if I did the program as written. I never do that much cardio in a week anyway as I seem to lose muscle when I do. It is challenging, but I think Insanity and STS complement each other very well, plus you can always substitute an easier cardio workout on days you feel tired. Good luck and have fun! (BTW, I am a little worried about the month 2 Insanities too -yikes!)

You guys are killing me! I want the insanity workouts so bad, I just may have to bite the bullet and get them.

There are new ones coming out?? Yippee! I just finished Max Interval Circuit. I feel great! It is such a great workout. I have used these for the past year in all different kind of mixed up workouts. I love the STS/ insanity combo. Right now I'm doing insanity and Gym style on off days.
Can't wait for Asylum!

that is soooo true! If I remembered what happens next, I would quit!!

Yes definately aids weight loss. It is based on what shaun t calls Max interval training. This is where you work real hard for like three minutes, then get 30 seconds rest. I'm sure this increases the metabolism all day, because I sure do feel pumped up the rest of the day. He throws in alot of body weight and plyo stuff to increase strength. I can tell you for sure, i do not want to be without my insanity!

Thanks Jules,

That makes me feel better that someone else is combining the two programs. I agree, I'm not loving only cardio, but I am committed to making it through as presented at least once. I think I will try what you're doing once I'm through this first round.

It's interesting, one thing I've noticed with Insanity is that even with all the high impact stuff my feet don't hurt like they do with a step workout. What's up with that?

Thanks again for the encouragement!

Take Care,
Steph
