HIIT/Intensity

HI!
I am new to the board but not new to working out. I injured my neck 5 years ago and it is now better. I have had a slow comeback....then due to unforseen circumstances (loss of job..family illness)- I did not work out for 2 years in the 5 year period....now I am crawling my way back to a good healthy lifestyle and fitness. I am 5'2 and currently 128# and seem to tone up semi quickly but want to lose the body fat. I have purchased Cathe's new 4 DVD collection and love them.
I currently do the STS Full body DVD currently 3 times a week and will mix the high reps with that....but I was trying to so the Intensity DVD 35min to 45 min at least 5 days a week...I wasn't sure if It is a good idea to do this Intensity DVD in particular that much.I will admit I can usually do it 3 times a week (short premix) but it whoops my butt.

I started working out again on Jan 2. I am trying to stay motivated and I see results already but dont want to overdo or burn myself out. BTW I am eating clean and keeping Calories around 1200 to 1300 /day and modifying carb intake.

Any comments or suggestions I would really appreciate...sorry 4 long winded story.

Hey there,
my opinion is that you really can't use STS Full Body 3x per week and then do 1x per week of High Reps...it's just to muich weight work.

Check out some of Cathe's Rotations and you'll get a feel for how she suggests you mix workouts within a week. You don't need to own all of her workouts but you can just get a sense of when she puts what body parts/workouts where....I would also add in some more Cardio.

Good luck

I might be mistaken but it looked like to me that you were doing Intensity 5 times a week? If so I think that might be a little excessive on the Hiit style workouts.
I am by no means certified in anyway to give advice but in all the reading I have done on this forum and Cathe's recommendations on most of her dvd's, I think you might benefit by adding some other style of cardio.
I do agree with the last poster about checking out Cathe's rotations to get an idea of how she might set up a week.

I am sure there will be some greater minds chiming in on this one for you.

Rachel;)

I try to keep the high impact to once a week, more than that seems like overkill and a great way to get an injury. You don't have to do everything all at once. Are you cross training with anything else? What does your rotation look like?

btw. at 128# you don't really qualify as fat at all;)

Workout-Intensity

Hey!
Thanks for answering me back. I kind of felt like I may have been overdoing it when I felt like a MAC truck had hit me a time or two LOL! So .....Needless to say I am constantly evaluating my workout.
I appreciate the idea to look at Cathe's rotation's...I think this will help alot.
My actual workout a week :
Sunday -STS full body workout with 20-30 min of step off the Intensity DVD
Monday- Low HIIT/Bootcamp 35 min Intensity(all I can do right now)
Tuesday-STS-Full Body with 20-30 Step
Wed-off
Thu-STS or Hi Reps full body with 20-30 min step
Friday- Step/lo HIIT/and Boot camp 40-45 min Intensity DVD
Sat- off

What are your thoughts?
I am trying to get this fat off my hips that don't seem to want to budge-while I realize I am not grossly overweight- I was at 112-115 for seven years and then it went to pot as well as my diet.

It seems I go at everything 100% and then settle down a bit LOL!
Thanks so much everyone for the great info!
