High Step Training Advanced Question

Hi Everyone

I've just ordered my 14" High Step (comes with HS Beginner dvd) and was thinking of getting HS Advanced. My questions are these:

Is HSA better than, or similar to HSC (which I already have)?

How difficult is the HS Beginner dvd as I'm an intermediate/advanced exerciser?

Have posted this question on the Open Forum too - sorry for duplication.

TIA
Andrea

HSTA and HSC are too similar to warrant buying both and HSC is an improvement upon the former. The music to HSTA is one of the dullest selecetions cathe ever made. It does not inspire you to give your all. Save your cash for future purchases.

Does HSC stand for High Step Circuit or High Step Challenge? I think everyone here thought it stood for High Step Challenge.

IMO, HSTA is much better cardio/endurance wise. I breath pretty good on this one. The music isn't very good, but that's not that important to me. HSC isn't as challenging and I always add a few intervals of Imax 2 or 3 to get my heartrate up. I find the cardio lacking in this one, but I do enjoy the variety.

i like HSTA and don't mind the music.. there are a LOT of step ups... a gizzilion of them! i like he cardio portions of HSTA better than HSC... i like that HSC doesn't have all the step ups (but i know they are good for my butt!

i don't care for high step circuit at all.. boring and way too easy (as opposed to the intermediate body fusion that i LOVE LOVE LOVE!)

there are so many opposing opinions on HSTA.... i think it's one of those you have to decide for yourself! if you like working with the high step... you will probably like HSTA!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

I love high step advanced the 2 are alike but I perfer hsta.If you like hsc you should like hsta-warning it does have alot of leg press's 6 sets}(

I agree with Shelia.

I have both, and love both..........but I tend to migrate to HSTA more often. And, I personally, don't mind the Leg Presses. :)

I have both and think HSTA is much more challenging than HSC. The cardio is tougher. I think the cardio is wimpy in HSC and the entire workout in HSTA keeps my heart rate up more than HSC. There are some unique exercises that are killers in HSTA also, one armed dips for example.I think of HSC as an intermediate workout and HSTA as an advanced workout. The intermediate workout that came out with HSTA as well as body fusion are very easy but I will do them on a recovery day or on a day when I have very little energy. The music on HSTA doesn't bother me.

I love High Step Challange. I have HSTA, but I don't really reach for it all that often. It's like a chore somehow. It's forever long. If I had to choose, my choice would definatly be HSC. Knowing how I feel about HSTA, I could live without it.

Go with HSTA. It is a way more challenging workout in my opinion. I agree with the previous posters that thought HSC was an easier workout. It just doesn't get my heart rate up. I don't reach for HSC very often for that reason.

I like both HSC and HSTA.

I think HSTA is more intense and the premixes are very nice--all cardio, all weights, cardio and legs (I really like this one, especially paired with Power Circuit) and cardio and upper body.

HSC has better music and I like how it flows better. I wish the premixes were more along the lines of HSTA.

just my opinions:p

take care

Hi Andrea,
I have the high step beginner/intermediate workout too and I like it. I'm an intermediate exerciser...I work up a sweat with that one. It really works on the legs. I thought it would be easier than it is. I don't know how a beginner could do it!! I don't like the music very much in it, but I can get through it anyway. I think the last cardio blast is the hardest and should be earlier in the workout. What do you think?

HSTA was my first purchase and I LOVE it to this day - Fantastic burn factor, I love feeling my cheeks work on the leg presses and you will sweat all the way through! It has great great pre-mixes! I don't give two craps about music - I am looking for great workouts!!! HSTA keeps you working through the entire hour!

Thanks to everyone who replied!

I've gone and bought HSTA!

Still waiting for my High Step though - apparently there's a backorder on the KPC dvd and it's holding the whole order up :-( :-( :-(

Hi Andrea

You will ADORE HSTA. It's really tough but worth every penny!

I can't wait to do this this one on Saturday. I hadn't noticed the music choice at all on this dvd...that's because I'm too busy screaming out loud with the pain. ohhhhh the pain...just wait til you get to the squats over the step "don't come up, dooooon't come up" }(

Enjoy!

Hi Andrea,

Thanks for starting this discussion thread. I am totally addicted to High Step Challenge. The first two times I tried it, I stopped in the middle of Cycle 3. Now, I'm finally able to finish the entire thing, but it really kills me!! :) However, based upon all of the excellent posts from everyone, I just purchased HSTA also. I think that it will add to my arsenal of training tools. I enjoy the high step training, and HS Challenge was really the first tape I owned with strictly high step training. I'm in love with it - very effective.

Thanks again!

Andrea,

As FitGirl said, I, too, am glad that you started this thread. I've been recently doing BC a lot, and am having the hardest time deciding between HSC or HSTA (I have neither and can only justify getting one of them).

For those of you who do have these w/o's:
1) how do they each compare to BC?
2) how many of the cardio cycles are actually "step cardio" on an 8-inch step? (I'm trying to move away from regular step cardio and would prefer more BC style cardio)
3) which one gives you the most burn in the lower body?
4) which one does the best job of keeping your heart rate up?

I'm sorry if these questions have already been asked and answered, but I need some more feedback!

Thanks!
Cleo :)

Cleo, I can definately compare BC to HSTA - - I LOVE BOTH!!!

BootCamp vs HSTA

Bootcamp cardio does not require the step which is great for room space and HSTA cardio is performed in short 2 mins burst on the step - Both have FUN cardio though.....

HSTA keeps my heart rate going the ENTIRE TIME!!! For me Bootcamp does not keep my heart rate going that hard the entire time bc of the core work in BC when my heart rate decreases..........

Bootcamp has terrific core work and I mean terrific! HSTA does not have a focal part for the core work, but you do various excercises that incorporates the core.........

Leg work is killer in HSTA - those low ends squats where she never comes up!!! HOLY COW!!! I still don't use any weights with those and I am just now getting to where I can stay down the entire time with good form - -

The arm work is slightly more intense for me in Bootcamp, and its too the point - but I do like the Tricep work tons in HSTA! Those one arm tricep dips are super hard!

I love the premixes in both!

If you don't have HSTA you should get it and just do the leg work as an add on to your leg workout and see what you think then! }( }( }(

Sorry so long but that is my opinion - hope it helps!
