high step dvds

I was looking at the 3 high step dvds. High Step Circuit is marked as beginner/intermediate, which I'm not, but they all 3 look and sound fairly similar. I don't have a high step, but thinking it might be worth the purchase. I just use extra risers on the regular step - found at a garage sale. So, there are 2 questions - which is the better high step workout? and is it necessary to purchase the high step top or can I do with a regular step and extra risers? Thanks!!!

I have High Step Challenge & I like it. I suppose if you really wanted to you could modify with a regular step. Buy it & try it with your step & if you don't like it you can always buy one afterwards. I would eventually like to buy the other high step dvd but not the beginner one.

Good luck, I think you would enjoy it & give yourself some more variety.

I have actually have all 3 of them. When I bought the High Step I got the High Step Circuit for free. I did it only once and really didn't like it. I love the other ones though. I think High Step Training - Advanced is the most difficult. There are tons of leg presses but I love the weight work and the cardio sections are longer than High Step Challenge. High Step Challenge is lots of fun. The cardio sections are shorter but you move rather quickly so your heart rate does stay up there.

Even though they are similar they have a different feel to them. HSC is more fun and upbeat and I think HSTA has a more serious feel. I can't say which one is better than the other because I like both and IMO they are different.

I'm not sure about doing them with a regular step. I think it will work but you'll have to turn the step lengthwise because you do an over the step move in HSC. I think you can make it work with what you have.

HTH,

i got the high step package one year. i actually like all the dvds. high step challenge is a little dread factor b/c of the length but the other two are good for me. high step training has much better premixes over high step challenge. high step circuit doesn't have any premixes but its pretty well chaptered. i also heavy up on weights and tubing and that makes the weight sections harder while with the cardio i add in more jumps and hops. its perfect for my short days b/c it falls just under an hour and hits it all. hight step training is tougher but i didn't much care for the music but i like the short premixes for upper/lower/cardio although its not the regular premixes as they don't do warm up or cool down you have to do that on a separate chapter then select your premix but its still nifty how its set up.

i haven't check the price lately but when i got it a few years back the whole package was $110(that is with shipping) and it came in under a week. well actually my mom got it for me but who's counting LOL. the high step comes with 4 risers so if you have the club step you can use those risers with high step. with all the risers i have it also makes for a great step stool for my 5' self LOL

I agree with Jane...Hight Step Training advanced kicked my butt with all those leg lefts...It's truly a challenge. I enjoy High step challenge. it moves faster than me...so I have to pause it...but I like it.

As for the step...Cathe sells the topper seperately...that's what I did...I already had the club step...and since you have all those risers...you can just use them...you may want to only start with 4 risers and a topper any way...

HSTA is probably my favorite Cathe workout (and I love many of them). If you like high step leg presses, this is the one to get. HSC doesn't include nearly as much high step.

You pretty much need the mini step, however. It's used with 2 risers for the cardio blasts and 5 risers for the leg presses, and you have to move pretty quickly between them. It would be awkward with a full sized step.

I think Cathe packs more into this workout than into any other. All parts are very challenging.

I agree with Writer, HSC is very challenging! But for some reason I hate it! I know, I know...whether its Cathe's funny ponytail, or the orange tans all that the gals are sporting, or maybe heck, its just hard..but I like hard....I never clicked with this one. I did the HSA and it was just okay, I actually do not like using the high step, so maybe that is my problem!

I don't know why, but I never cared for the high step workouts. Maybe it's because I detest leg presses on the high step. I rarely reach for them.

I have all of them and I agree with Kassia, High Step Circuit is perfect for a day when I need a lighter/shorter work out. I do heavy up on the weights, though.

I've been doing the 51 minute premix on High Step Challenge lately. The whole work out is just too long for me. High Step Training Advanced is a great workout, but it has a dread factor for me. Maybe it's the music on that one, it just isn't very motivating to me.

I also just bought the high step topper and one riser so I now have 5 risers and the topper. I waited a loooonnnnng time to buy the topper, but now I love it. It was worth the $$$.
