Hi/Lo Revisited

Stacy

Cathlete
Hi! I need some suggestions. I'm moving into a house from an apartment so I want to add some hi/lo tapes back into my cardio routines. I have all of Cathe's tapes which are mostly step as everyone knows and now that I can jump up and down as much as I want I'm looking for a challenging hi/lo only workout. I must say that I am a bit picky when it comes to hi/lo. What I'm looking for is something with a length of at least 35-40 minutes (not counting the warmup and cooldown), something fun and energizing with a non-annoying instructor. My style is definitely more athletic, along the lines of the floor work in MIC. I have KV's Power Packed Workout as my only other hi/lo tape and although it gets my heart pumping it's a little too fast and KV is a little dry in my opinion. I really dont care for alot of mambo's, ball changes or alot of dancey or funky spin moves, just something no-nonsense but still fun and intense. Ive seen alot of CIA step and hi/lo on the same tape but I'm really looking for just a hi/lo tape similar to Cathe in style. Thanks for any suggestions!!

Funny, I'm responding to my own post...can you tell I'm bored today??? :) Anyway, after spending alot of time searching old posts, reading alot of reviews on collage and video fitness it seems that most of CIA's tapes have a step section on them too which I really dont have a need for and seem too dancy and perky. There were two in particular whose reviews seemed like they might be tapes to fit the bill, but one I cant find for sale. The tapes are CIA 9807: High/Low Workout plus Conditioning and Charlene Prickett's Rev Up the Sequel (which I cant find for sale). These seem more basic/athletic as far as choreography which is what I'm looking for, dancy cha cha's and turns etc drive me crazy, but are these videos intense enough for the low advanced exerciser?? Thanks again!! :)

Mindy, Mindy, Mindy - and Franny

Stacy,

Congrats on the new house! You're free to MAKE NOISE now!

You should check the videofitness reviews on Mindy Mylrea's Action Packed Workout, it has a 35-minute hi-lo routine together with a 30min step routine and it rocks! Great music, athletic steps, lots of energy.

Also, Franny Benedetto has two tapes that each feature a 40min hi-lo section: CIA 9704 and 9905. I found 9704 easier to learn, and fun.

Check out the videofitness exchange or the FIRM swap to see if you can get these cheaply.

Have you posted this question over at videofitness? I'm sure you'd get lots of great opinions by people who actually do these workouts all the time.

Yes, Mindy!!!!

Action Packed sounds like just what you're looking for!!!!!! Athletic, non-dancy, ~45 min. total for the hi/lo (and it also has a 45 min. step workout too), really fun and intense!

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that you can buy Charlene Prickett's videos at www.charleneprickett.com. I just bought Rev Up the Sequel a few weeks ago and if you are looking for some intense hi/lo without challenging choreography, then this is the perfect video for you !! (You just have to be able to get past the neon and colorful outfits that everyone is wearing!) The workout is easy to follow and includes high impact moves like jumping jacks. I can't really say a whole lot about it yet, because I've only done it once. Well, good luck with whatever you decide!
