Hey MELTING "Fools" it's Tuesday!

fox2star

Cathlete
Good Morning and Happy April Fool's Day!:)

Just got upstairs from doing the Pyramid Upper Body (up only) premix. I love this workout, but I wish she would go slower! I pause the DVD in between body parts to take a breath and drink some water..
I still think it's one of her best!

BB in a bit!

Deb:)

RE: Hey MELTING

Good Morning Deb and Other Melters.

Just woke up from a bad dream so I'd thought I would check the forums before trying to get back to sleep. It's cold, windy, and rainy here.

My CTX is supposed to be here tomorrow. So, it might be ACS2 tonight. Or, I might take a break.

RE: Hey MELTING

Good morning Deb and all to follow. I agree with PUB. It's one of my favorite upper body workouts. Followed by the GS workouts.

Happy April to all. I sure hope spring is lurking around the corner, ready to pounce on us. I could use some April flowers. I feel a lot more human today. Yay for a good night's sleep. I hope to get that GS Legs done this afternoon.

tneah, I, for one, am so impressed with the gains you posted last night. You have made remarkable progress and I know how hard it has been. You are an inspiration and I'm recomitted to improve my own fitness/muscle/weight etc this next couple of months.

Leanne, gosh, doesn't spring break go fast? Seems like you were just enjoying a quiet day off and here it is, back to your crazy day. Hope it doesn't get overwhelming.

Jennifer, my cats have done their business in inappropriate places, but never on the dining room table. Boy, he was really ticked at you! Every now and then, Frank forgets himself and walks across the table, but NEVER when I'm watching.

TK, I know what you mean about making your own clothes. When I was in college, I made almost all my own clothing. I made some stuff for my DH, then BF, too. I had plans to make stuff when my kids were little, but time got to be an issue. The next time I wanted to make something, the cost was outrageous, when you factored in the time too.

Lainie, sounds like you did some good shopping yesterday. I'm still waiting for our Target to open. Seems like they've been working on the building forever. What do you think of the kettlebell?

Shelley, how'd your SO take the bad news? I remember he was pretty glum the last time his company screwed him. Maybe it's time for him to look elsewhere. Have you done anymore work on your own business concept?

Oy, where does the time go. I have to get to work. Hey to all you other melters out there. Let's use the start of a new month and tneah's great example to focus on reaching our goals. Cleaner eating, better workouts and melting into more beautiful woman.

RE: Hey MELTING

Hi I'm back,

Well we heard from the other breeder in Syracuse that is the partner of the Illinois one. He has a dog ("Izzy") that will be bred in a week. This litter will be born about and hour and a half from here. It's very tempting, rather than going to Chicago! We can go down and see them before we even pick one, which is nicer. We will see what happens. It'suppsosed to get to 60 degrees today...I hope so! I can't believe after eating chocolate every day last week and topping the week off with the "Piggy Pie" I am down 1/4 pound! Maybe this is telling me that when I think I am doing good, I am not getting enough calories?

Robin:
I like your idea about starting "anew" with this being the first of the month! I think I will do that, since I weighed in this am. Glad you are feeling better today! Hope you get to do that workout later.

Jennifer:
I feel for you and Lainie with the bad dreams. I hardly remember my dreams. I bet you are excited about getting CTX! I can believe your cat did that. One of our dogs did that too! I was so upset at the time. Now I look back and laugh. He was telling us I guess! LOL.

Lainie:
The shopping trip sounds like it was fun. You are the first here to try the kettleball! Let us know what you think when you do the workout. I bet you were smiling when you found that umbrella! :7 I can understand why you would not want to move...you have moved a lot it seems and once you get settled in a place you like, I would want to stay too.

Shelly:
I decided I would do L&G (standing only) instead of Leaner Legs. I don;t remember what it's like, it's been so long since I've done it. I sold CTX because I could never get the cardio, and too high impact for me. Do you put the serum all over your face or only on the parts that need it?

Shannon:
Sorry to hear your neck and shoulder issues came back. ;( Have you seen a neurologist? It may be a disk issue. PB is clean...right? I may have to try one of those CC workouts.. maybe it will get me to try my eliptical again? How long is the CC8? How was lunch?

Tneah:
"El Capitan" sounds dreamy ( the made up one of course!) I think you should be really proud of all the work you have done! What leg/weight routine do you do? I assume using gym equipment which gives you a little more like leg curls etc, that you can;t do with Cathe. 13.8% body fat is pretty low. I am not sure any lower would be healthy! I have to go back and try that Lean Dessert protein powder again..I didn't like it the first time..is it better with milk? I think I used water.
Don't put much into Trainer Man's tone...he could just be having a grumpy Monday.

Leanne:
Spring break is over already?:-( My doesn't the time go by fast when you are not working? LOL.. yes we did get the car and it was perfect! I have a battery "minder" that it is plugged into all winter so it starts right up. They washed it before they covered it so it was clean ( a little dusty) too. I am thinking of taking it out today since it's supposed to be nice. ( still not top down weather though). Don't work too hard! We'll miss you today!

TK:
I know how you feel about your stylist. I have been going to the same one for over 10 years, and I sometimes think it is time for a change, however I feel disloyal for some reason. What's up with that? Let us know how it turned out. Thanks for the info on the airport. We are so torn between 2 breeds. The one in New Castle is our second choice. We are "Wire" people through and through.

Have a great day!

Deb:)

RE: Hey MELTING

Morning, Melters!

How is everyone today? Robin has the right idea - it's spring, everything is coming alive again, and it's time for us to get a fresh start too! Maybe once it warms up, we can all get outside and add some nice walks or runs into our routines.

Jennifer - were you able to go back to sleep?

Robin - spring IS coming! I promise. Our daffodils have already come and gone, and my irises are really starting to open up! Hostas are peeking through, pinks have buds everywhere... and our springtime thunderstorms are in full force.

Deb - I hope you find the perfect puppy! I expect you probably are getting enough calories, but maybe your body just gets used to a food routine, the same as it does an exercise routine. You just "shocked" your tummy this week! :p Yes, I saw a neurologist about a year ago. The problem is pure tension. I need to relax.

Tneah - from your pictures, I think you look very balanced. What do you think? If you like the way your upper body looks, then tell Mr. Trainer to take a hike. :p I know - he's the professional... but don't forget that you have quite a bit of experience in training yourself!

Leanne - Ugh - I'm sorry you had to work late last night. You're going to need another vacation soon at this rate! Yes, this co-worker is the one I'm really going to miss. Today is her last day. ;(

TK - how's the new haircut? Did your stylist get it like you wanted it? You know they make "space saver" ellipticals that sort of fold up to save a little floor space. Do you have a corner you could stick it in when you're not using it?

So... guess what??? I did Rythmic Step all the way through with no problems last night! My calf got a little tired near the end, simply because it's not used to working. But it survived all those turns and pivots and tap-hop repeaters! I think (knock on wood) that it is finally healed! Now I just have to strengthen it enough to do the big jumps.

Thanks so much, everyone, for putting up with me all this time. Six months! Can you believe that??

RE: Hey MELTING

Whew, I am really sleepy this morning. Now, I know ya'll are probably thinking, "Hello? Lainie? You are ALWAYS tired-what's the deal?" But I actually have some really good reasons for being tired today.

I'll try to explain the reasons quickly in a list:
1. Went to bed a bit late--close to midnight
2. DH flew back very late--arrived home at 2 AM and I got up briefly when he came home (at least I didn't wait up
3. Not long after I was asleep again, Isaac was up and had a potty accident--had to get him clean pants
4. About 4 AM my hated cellphone started to beep because of a low battery--I really !@#$%^&* hate that !@#$%^&* phone and I keep forgetting to check it before bedtime. Why does it always start beeping loudly in the middle of the night? Why can't it run out of juice at 4 PM instead?
5. Brian was up early to go to a meeting in Manhattan and his alarm woke me (around 5 AM, I think).
6. He then woke me at 6 and asked if I wanted to keep him company before he went to the bus stop--for some crazy reason I agreed.
7. I attempted to go lie down again at 6:30 when he left, but the boys were up a few minutes later (my alarm would have gone off at 7 anyway).

OK, that was still rather long-winded. I am going to try to do my workout in a few minutes and then maybe I can nap this afternoon when Ewan naps--though I often feel so groggy and weird if I nap. I haven't decided which workout to do. I might try Seasun Zieger's The Next Step which I've owned for a while but never done. I'll do it on a MatStep since my ankle and knees are still iffy. We'll see how my energy is--might end up just taking a walk in town if the rain lets up.

Deb, I also feel like PUB goes pretty fast--good in a way but yeah, I have to pause it sometimes. At least I don't have to pause as much as I do with PLB with those barbell changes--I might be better with that with my newer bb, though. Good luck with the doggy search! I really want a Boston terrier (DH had one when we got married but she died while we were still newlyweds). Since then we've moved around too much to get another dog, but I am ready for one now. I also like pugs, but DH is more likely to want another Boston, which is fine.

Jennifer, I hope you had sweeter dreams when you went back to sleep. I have lots of bizarre dreams, and sometimes scary ones. I started a dream blog just to record some of them (http://dreamerfig.blogspot.com)

Robin, I think the kettlebell is a pretty neat workout toy. I can't wait to try a kettlebell workout with it, though some of the moves might be a bit tough with my wonky knees. Also, I probably won't try a full kettlebell workout until at least next week, because I'm doing a Jari Love week this week.

Shannon, congrats on getting through Rhythmic Step--I love that one...now I'm tempted to do that one instead of trying a new one. You know, some days I really want to try something new and sometimes I want an old favorite. I wish the music were better on RS, though. And yeah, I can believe 6 months. I originally hurt my ankle back in August. Ugh.

And just for fun, a picture of Ewan watching Mickey Mouse this morning:
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g76/lainiefig/IMG_3635.jpg

I am going to go read yesterday's thread again and see if there's any more personals I need to add.

RE: Hey MELTING

Shelley, you look so cool with that hair! You have a good face shape for it, even. I have a big long old head, so I really can't pull off very short hair well. Or maybe it's not so much the big old head as it is the wavy frizzy hair.... Anyway, it suits you and your lovely smile.

Tneah, hope you are in a less obsessive mood today. Relax girlfriend, you look maaaahvelous!

TK, I mainly just wish I knew how to design clothing--I'd make a cool line of clothes for real curvy women. I don't even mean clothes for "full figured" women--just women with normal figures. There aren't enough clothes like that out there. Especially for those of us who don't tailor our own or pay a tailor to fix stuff.

Speaking of clothes, I go those two pairs of bigger jeans yesterday at ATLoft (returning the snug ones). I put a pair on this morning--and wouldn't you know it, they feel kind of loose. I think I'll keep them for chubbier days but I might exchange the second pair for a smaller pair (for skinnier days).

I still don't know if I'm going to step, walk or rest. Any advice?

RE: Hey MELTING

Good Morning All!

Deb, great news about the puppies, it would be nice going to actually pick one out yourself. Oh, I want another puppy now! No offense to Georgie of course. And yes, you can put the serum all over your face, even your neck. I love it around my eyes, it smooths everything out, it really is my favorite product of all time. PUB is fun isn't it? Cathe moves fast in all her workouts except Slow and Heavy in my opinion. Even with the 4DS workouts which are supposed to be heavy weights. You need a minute between sets to regroup and rest enough so you can hit the next set really hard. The leg workout I do is straightforward and very simple.
I do 3 sets of either squats (when I work out at home) or leg press at 30 reps each set. Then seated leg curls, lying leg curls, reverse bench lunges, leg extensions and finally two different exercises for calves. All my reps start with 15, 12, ,12 and then finally the last set is 10 reps. My upper body workouts are the same simple, straight forward approach. He expects those last reps of every set to be almost forced reps though, so I really have to focus and push myself every workout to get the most out of it.

Shelley, love, love and then love some more your hair! An old dear friend of mine used to wear her hair like that. You are really pretty by the way and take fabulous photos. You look a bit like Selma Blair in that photo..she is a doll by the way..although not lately, look at her older photo's, those are the ones you resemble.

Robin, glad I could play a part in helping motivate you, I take motivation from you guys each morning after reading which workouts you are all doing.

Lainie, I say go with the walk. Being outside is nice, plus easy on the knees. Loved the pic of Ewan with his Elmo's on! Sounds like you should have kept the skinny jeans..remember they stretch!

Jennifer, I have weird dreams sometimes as well. They seem even stranger when they wake you up!

Shannon, I posted on the OD, but wanted to tell you how happy I am to learn your calf is fully recovered and behaving itself.

:)

Hi to Leanne this morning who is probably up to her eyeballs in papers and the like...

DH wants me to quit the diet, says my eyes are looking sunken in, and I look unhealthy. Great. Between him and Trainer man, I have a wonderful little "network" of positive male influence this week.x( Says its "moronic" and I am obsessive (well we all know that) and so on and so forth....OK, bbl to check on you chica's...:p

RE: Hey MELTING

Good afternoon, everyone!

I had a nice stretch at lunch and even tried to meditate for a few minutes. My office has a nice, thick door, and everyone else had gone out! It was rather peaceful.

Lanie - did you get that nap? It sure sounds like you needed it. And what's this??? You don't like the music in RS? I love it! It's so bouncy and lively.

Shelley - I think you look good with that short hair, but I like your long hair better. It makes you look very sophisticated.

Tneah - thanks so much for the calf wishes! I'm pretty darned happy too. Men are an odd bunch, aren't they? Of course your photos didn't show your face, but based on the rest of you, I expect your DH is dead wrong about that "sunken look." The rest of you looks very healthy!

RE: Hey MELTING

Hi everyone. I took a walk around town and then I took a nap. That was it for a workout today. :)

I also bought this little bag while out today:
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g76/lainiefig/IMG_3637.jpg

I'm doing well on WW today since I can't eat while sleeping or walking.

Tneah, ignore the males, look deep inside yourself and find out what you want for yourself and your body. That's my little trite advice for the day--I should have a talk show or something. But seriously, I hope you can do some soul-searching and decide if this is really the best program for you or what.

Shannon, the RS music is just o.k. I prefer some of the other music. I kind of like it when she goes the 80's music route, but I also liked the 4DS music. I think I like the SB music better than RS, too.

OK, just remembered I'm behind on the laundry since I took that nap earlier--and haven't done anything further since getting up from that nap. Ugh.

RE: Hey MELTING

G'day melters. This morning was Supersets. I hadn't done that one in a while, so it's nice to do a workout I haven't done 100 times before. I get bored so easily, I still don't know how I did it years ago using the same 4 or 5 Firm videos day after day for months on end. Heck I can't even imagine using a Firm video at all now that I've discovered other instructors.

My haircut came out just as I had hoped. It's sort of like a bob but not too blunt in the back. The front is just a tad longer than the back. I'll keep this cut thru the summer, though normally I go shorter for the warmer months. At least it's long enough that I can use a jaw clip to pull the front hair out of my eyes.

Deb: I hear you about feeling disloyal to a hair stylist. On top of that Delaware is such a small state that I run into people I know all the time. That happened once with a former stylist. It was an awkward moment.

Lainie: I have The Next Step and I really like it. It takes a while to get the choreo but Seasun cues very well. I have her Straight Up Step sitting on my shelf with the cellophane still on it. I usually have a couple videos set aside just in case I get bored with the ones I already know. Knowing you and your vid library, you probably do the same thing!

Shelley: I love your short 'do. I think Tneah's right. You do look like Selma Blair. I bet it's so easy to take care of too!

Leanne: Hope your first day back to work isn't too stressful!

Tneah: Do what's right for you, ignore the men.

I'm sure I missed a couple people, but I gotta scram out of here before more work comes my way!

TK, Would you believe just a little over a year ago I was still using the Buns of Steel series for my workouts?!?!? I discovered Cathe some time last April, so it's almost been a year.

And yes, I have actually way too many videos I haven't tried yet.... Especially as I kept buying step videos even after my orthopedic surgeon told me not to step. (And of course I sort of ignored the advice anyway, though I at least use the MatStep a lot.)

RE: Hey MELTING

Hello Melters.

After I posted, I was able to have about an hour of sound sleep. I still have "terror" dreams on occasion but have found peace in what was causing it-the source.

Today, I chose not to workout. So, I had a chocolate almond bar and balanced my checkbook. Found a mistake in my favour. :) :) :)

Thursday, I should get my "thank you" gift from work for volunteering at the home show and possibly my raise. Although, nothing has been mentioned about reviews yet. Don't know who'll be giving mine since I technically don't have a direct supervisor anymore.

Aunt Flo shows up without notice again. One of the bummers about being in shape and eating clean. No prior anything.

We did have snow and wind today just like a November day, Spring is supposed to come later this week. (we hear that alot here on TV)

Have a Great Night.

RE: Hey MELTING

Oh "Buns of Steel!" Tamilee Webb in those almost X-rated leotards, I remember doing one of those videos and getting embarassed because you could practically see her "va-jay-jay" as she performed the exercises, her outfit was cut so small "down there".

Thank goodness the thong wear that used to be so popular at the gym is gone nowdays....having a good day..don't feel like chatting though, wow, really Tneah?:p But wishing you all a happy evening...

RE: Hey MELTING

Well, I did more of the Leisa Hart aerobics & toning ones. Leisa always seemed so wholesome and sweet. I did have a couple Tamilees, though. I had an Abs of Steel one where Tamilee wore this ridiculous ballcap--I had to sell it mostly because of that hat.

RE: Hey MELTING

OMG, Tamilee Webb. I got rid of those VHSs almost 2 years ago. She was a good starter along with Gin Miller and Keli Roberts. Didn't she marry some handsome doctor out of LA? Mine went nicely wrapped to a Christmas White Elephant party, to my amazement, no one wanted them cause the "expectations" were too high. I was thinking apparently they never heard of Cathe.
