Hey Guinness Drinkers!!-Thought you might like to know....

My Irish coworkers say only silly Americans think Guinness is any good. Perhaps a native Irish person could speak to this?

I'm not Irish, so I don't really know, but when we were in Ireland a couple years ago, they certainly seemed to be drinking it all over the place--the Irish as well as the tourists. Then again I could have been drinking too much of it to be sure. I can also say that we thought it tasted better in Ireland.

That was all my Irish coworker WOULD drink, funny. Although she did say that it was no good here in the US - that you have to be in Dublin to get the good stuff - even outside Dublin the quality degrades. She was also 5'4 and 110 pounds dripping wet and could (and did) drink all of the guys under the table. We used to joke that she had a hollow leg.

I'd be interested in hearing from an native Irishman or lass myself.

There are only a FEW Irish pubs that know how to properly pour, store and serve Guiness. It tastes MUCH better in Ireland than it does in the states (same with Heineken in Amsterdam...).

However, having spent time in Galway with a friend that lives there, the BEST (IMO) beer is what they refer to as a "Special". (This is regional to Galway, so Dubliner's are not familiar with this term.)
It's 80% Smithwick's, topped with a head of Guiness.
SMOOOOOOTH and Yummy!!!!

I agree - it tastes MUCH better in Ireland (we even noticed a difference between getting Guinness in Ireland and getting it in England)!

YUMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:9
