HELP...Vitamins....Have you heard of these???

Dayna,

Did you mean the owner also buys Shaklee Vitamin?

I started a week ago with Shaklee Basic foundation and Glucosamin. Nothing changed dramatically except I did not feel sleepy all the time when its my PMS week. Normally at this time (before, during PMS) I felt very sleepy, my legs were moshy. I also added a lot protein in my diet since I am not dietary and meat eater.

My knees still hurt, but much better than before. I am doing very tough Freestyle rotation starting last Saturday. Almost everyday involves legs training. I usually had to stop a couple days after heavy lunge, squat exercises. I only took a day off (yesterday)and that was due to my hamstring and thigh DOM not the knees. Today I am right back into workout. In addition of Shaklee knees product, I also used knees protectors. I think that also helped alot.

Since I tried to burn fat, I tried to push hard in anaerobic exercise. I tried their Maxi shake this morning. It's too soon to tell how it works, but sure it tasted soooo yammmmmmy. I chose Valena flavor with 2% milk...

I will check back in a couple weeks and see how it turns out...

Question for robin4health!!!

Hi Robin!

I checked out your Shaklee website and am wondering what specific product you used to make that detailed comparison to GNC's Women UltraMega (which I currently take). Were you using the Women's Basics in the comparison? If so, were you using ALL of the supplements included in that package?

Thanks so much for providing all of this wonderful information!!!

Cleo :)

RE: Question for robin4health!!!

Hey Cleo! Great question. My DD decided to get up at 5:30 this morning, so I am up for an early start today! The GNC Women UltraMega was compared to Shaklee's Vita-Lea (just the multi-vitamin), I was not comparing it to the "BASICS" package. I personally take the "Basics" strips because I like he extra B-vitamins and the anti-oxidant properties of the extra C & E's, but the multi-vitamin (Vita-Lea) is very well proportioned by itself, as you can see. Let me know if you have any more questions!

RE: Question for robin4health!!!

Thanks so much, Robin! You can add one more Shaklee convert to your list after I finish my GNC bottle. :)

RE: Question for robin4health!!!

Hi everyone! Sorry to bump up this old thread, but I thought I would put my info here instead of starting a new thread. I have been getting some emails about Shaklee and the whole free membership thing they are offering this month. I figured I could answer you all here!

Yes, Shaklee is running a special this July where you can get free membership if you order 100 PV. PV stands for point value. Each item has PV assigned to it, which is usually 75% of its cost. For example, Energizing Soy Protein costs $32.25 at member price and has a point value of 25.30. Anyway, if you fall in love with Shaklee products like I did, this is a great deal. Membership is usually $20, but if you know you will be ordering again, you can stock up on a few months supply or try some different products and then you get your membership free, which also means you save 15% on every product every time your order.

You do not have to do this in order to become a member. Some of you have been becoming a member for $20 and then buying $25 in products. That is fine also!

Or, you don’t have to become a member at all. You can just order at non-member price. It is totally up to you! I just wanted to let you know how their July special worked and it goes through July 31. If you have any more questions, just let me know!!!

RE: Question for robin4health!!!

This sure sounds interesting, I think that I am going to try their Multi-vitamin & their B vitamins.

Robin - I have been reading this thread with great interest. There is a TON of information here!

My vitamins and calcium tablets have run out. I am one of those that takes a drugstore brand ( Centrium ) multivitamin and OstaCal for Calcium.

I am 39 and premenopausal, so I think I am to take the Vita-Lea with Iron. I am a bit concerned about the extra Iron as it sometimes upsets my stomach. Is the Iron really a necessary component? Will the other one work just as well.

What about Calcium. Will the multivitamin be enough or do I need to purchase a calcium vitamin as well? It seems like the calicum dosages are quite high (1000 mgs and 1200 mgs) If I take the multivitamin and use dairy products (cottage cheese, skim milk, yogurt) on a daily basis, wouldn't the calicum tablet provide too much calicum?

Please let me! I am ready to order! :)

Hi eyequit! (funny name....I feel that way sometimes too ;)

I thought this thread was buried, until I logged on tonight and saw it popped up again! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, things have been pretty busy around here lately!

A comparable product to your Centrium would be Vita-Lea. Since you know iron upsets your tummy, I would say you should get the iron-free Vita-Lea (product #20016)

As for the calcium, Vita-Lea has 45% RDA on calcium. Multi's don't put a lot of calcium in them because it makes them too bulky and the won't dissolve in your stomach if they pack too much in. Also, your body can only absorb so much calcium at one time, so that is another reason they don't put 100% calcium in thier multi.

Shaklee does have a product called Super Cal Mag Plus. It has 3 forms of calcium....dicalcium phosphate, calcium carbonate and calcium citrate. It also contains D, K, & Phosphorus (which is essential for bone building...a lot of calcium products don't contain this). Each tablet has 200 mg, so you can take up to 6..to get you up to 1200 mg...but you don't need to if you are taking Vita-Lea and already eating calcium in some other places. I personally take 3 right before bed because it is a natural muscle relaxer, and that is all I take for calcium, because I know I'm getting the rest from Vita-Lea and my diet. The product number for super cal mag plus is #20657

Please feel free to email me personally at [email protected] if you have any more questions. You can get these products online on my Shaklee website: www.shaklee.net/robin_walker

Thanks for all of this info!

Lisa (ZT27) also told me about this. I'm so excited.

I received the Physique powder yesterday. It's so good!

I also just ordered the Vita_Lea vitamins. I got them without iron though (even though I am pre-menopausal), since my iron levels have always been pretty high. Still within the normal range...but at the high end.

I've found that if your tummy gets upset when you take a supplement with a high iron dose in it, cut the tablet in half (1/2 now, half with midmorning snack)...ANY supplement that you only take once a day has the risk of many nutrients being "flushed" from your system...There are many vitamins and minerals that your body can only handle x amount at a time...A great supplement needs to be taken twice a day to really be effective (I'm sorry, haven't looked at the Shaklee ones, so I hope I'm not stepping on toes!)...

As far as an additional calcium supplement is concerned, our body uses calcium in so many ways, and so many things in our diet are "calcium eaters" (ie, carbonated beverages, caffine in any form, etc...), and many dairy products that aren't broken down and utilized by our bodies correctly, I think it would be difficult to take "too" much calcium (within reason)...I always recommend that EVERY woman take a calcium supplement...

Hey MJ.

Yup, I agree with everything you stated. You are right on! With Shaklee's supplements, you have to take 2 a day, for the exact reasons you stated.
