Hi everyone. I am an avid exerciser and workout 6-7 times per week and was just finishing one of Fitnessfreaks rotations when yesterday I FELL AND BROKE MY LEG! All I can think about is how am I going to work out? Any ideas from people? I don't want to be a fat blob at the end of 6 weeks. I am so upset... Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Laura;(

Collage video has a specialty workout section. I remember seeing a chair areobic workout that may be good for cardio. I'm so sorry you broke your leg! This may be an opportunity to work on your upper body. Talk to a doctor and (easier said that done) try not to get to discouraged. Hang in there.

Laura, I'm so sorry!! I remember when I badly sprained my ankle a few years ago and I couldn't workout. It sucked. The only advice I can give is to do as the other poster suggested and work on your upper body. Also, you may want to REALLY watch your diet. Since your activity level has to decrease, you're food intake may have to decrease as well. Just do your best and focus on getting better.:)

I had surg and was out for 6 weeks. It took a month to get back in the game and i was hurting. You can still do UBody and crunches for the next 6 weeks. Your leg will probably need some babying after your cast comes off. You will not be a fat blob after 6 weeks unless you live on ice cream, cake and chips...

I was allowed nothing for 1 month, I mean nothing...
I gained a couple # , but got it off in no time...I ate crappy...

Good luck and happy healing. You will be fine, bored, but fine...

At first you will need to keep your leg elevated most of the time, but when it starts to heal, build up to going for "walks" on your crutches! You will be amazed at what this does for your upper body strength and cardio, and you will get so that you can move along pretty fast. A few years ago I was on crutches for several weeks and by the end, I could do 30+ full pushups in a row with perfect form. I also did quite a bit of upper body weight work. I got quite "cut" looking -- great arms and shoulders. I did gain a little bit of weight -- maybe 5 lbs -- most of which was form eating the wrong thing because I was unhappy about my situation. The extra disappeared fast once I went back to my regular workouts.

Since that time, I have never again been so strong in the upper body.
