I am 31 & need to lose a lot of fat! I use weights(dumbell mostly) at least 2-3 times a week, so I am strong but FAT - especially around the midsection. The only cardio I am doing lately is walking & despite all the articles I see about "walking it off" - it ain't workin' for me! IT's TIME TO GET SWEATY, DIRTY, & DEDICATED! I have done Cathy's workouts before, but "life" happens & I get off track & stop working out and always gain back the 15 or 20 lbs lost + 5 or 10 more! I am getting VERY SERIOUS about starting a family(married for 10+years!), but will not even consider it until I am a healthy weight. My question is simple: If I alternate the "Power Hour" (3 days) with "Rhythmic Step" (3 days), will that work to help me gain more muscle tone & shed that unhealthy fat?? Those are the only 2 workouts I currently have until Santa visits me!! I do have access to Kick, Punch, & Crunch on Fit TV, if that would be effective also. Please help me to figure out the best plan possible using these workouts to effectively drop the fat so I can get healthy at last! Thanks so much in advance!!!!

hi kinnie

i think working off of fittv can be affective as long as you don't "take a break" during the commercials. most of my workouts were taped as well and i always tried to do something to keep moving during the commericals or you can eliminate them. power hour and rhythmic step are great workouts but its good to mix up workouts so you don't get bored. just keep checking fittv for the body blast, intensity, and slow and heavy series. you should take advantage of her presale of new dvds while you still can. they are a great price for 4 dvds. just a suggestion.

as far as a plan i just stick with cardio, weights, and try to include on interval workout(IMAX2) and clean eating with lots of water. and don't expect things to just happen right away. it takes time b/c you certainly didn't gain weight overnight nor will you lose it that way. good luck and check on the open dicussions board for more advice

Hi Kassia, Thanks so much for your reply! When I get back home from out of town, starting Monday I am "HARD CORE" 6 days a week going to start with the Power Hour & Rythmic Step split. I appreciate your reply & was pretty surprised that yours was the only one, but that's cool, I am very happy with the helpful advice you have given me! The commercial thing is one concern I had. In the past when I have done "Cathe" off FitTV I just drank water & breathed right through the commercials, thinking it wouldn't matter, but I guess it does!! I'll do some jjacks or something to keep up my heart rate during that time. I think after 4 -6 weeks I'll add in some of her different routines, like IMAX(which I keep reading about - must be tough stuff!) and I thought I'd add in some of the core & stretch training. I am going on 32yrs. & really want to start trying to have a baby, but not until I am a healthy weight! Believe it or not, I have the eating under control pretty good for someone that lives in the deep fried-food laden South!! My main problem with the healthy stuff I eat(lean meats, veggies, some fruit, whole wheat bread & pastas) is portion control. I have a very stressful job/life(DON"T WE ALL!?!) and tend to overeat even the healthy stuff to comfort myself, something I must manage better, I know! HEY, THANKS again for your response - I look forward to chatting it up with you again sometime! Kinnie

maybe trying to spread out eating over the course of a day like five smaller meals instead of all at once big meals. plus your body can only process so many carbs at a time so eating smaller meals can help with blood sugar and energy levels. my little brother is diabetic and these are things that the doctors have told me about and many say it helps with metabolism eating smaller meals during the day. i still measure my food from time to time but i have gotten good with eye level and just knowing when i am satisfied. it takes some working with but you will get it. if i did you can most certainly do it.

I would definately incorporate more CARDIO exercises and keep the weights at 3x's a week maximum. Also, what is your diet like? It is good to incorporate exercise for the body, but food intake (your diet) is as important as working out. If you are not eating clean, correctly, the pounds will remain. If you are serious a 1200 - 1500 calorie intake diet would be the start for you. I do not know what your financial situation is, but I would definately look at getting Cathe's IMAX2, Interval Max or IMAX3. These exercises burn major calories off. But, I can not stress your diet intake enough. I lost 75 lbs by starting a low calorie diet and working out 5-6 times a week. When the pounds started to fall was when I was serious about my diet intake, with my workout regime. I wish it could be easier, believe me we ALL would like a knife and just "cut that fat off", but it just does not work that way. Hope this helps...:)

Hi, ive found that having a protein shake before cardio really helped me to lose weight it forces your body to use the fat for fuel, rather than burn hard earned muscle and stay over weight.
