Hello ! I am English and new to the forum

Another source...

Hi Anna,

Just wanted to add another vote towards the Wedding video and Step Heat..two great starting points for Cathe's workouts:).

Also, have you ever ordered from JumpyBumpy...a London video source? I was given this tip over at Video Fitness from a good friend and had great luck ordering from the states. Some of the videos aren't of the production quality that Cathe's are but they do have a good variety to chose from. The site link is http://www.jumpybumpy.com

Hi Everyone,

Thankyou so much for your welcomes, I have officially turned into a Cathe Forum addict, I keep checking back countless times during the day.
Thanks for all your advice, I still don't know which Cathe videos to go for ? I am definitely going to invest in the Wedding video, but the second one I'm not sure ? I keep looking at Circuit Max, but wondering if this is too difficult for a new Cathe exerciser ? It looks such a cool workout !
And MY WORD........POWER SCISSORS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How on Earth do you do those with a dodgy right knee ?
Does anyone have any advice on an easy way to pivot on the standing leg without twisting your knee ? Cathe seems to do alot of pivoting !!!!!!!!!!!
Cardio Kicks looks brilliant - that will definitely be a future investment at some point
MIS Cardio looks like a fantastic workout too.

I have until the middle of October to decide.......

Would value your opinions !

Oh, before I go, how does Cathe compare to Christy Taylor ?

Many thanks Anna

Hi again! I definitely think you're making a wise choice by getting the wedding video. As for the ab work in this video and Step Heat, they're the least intense of Cathe's ab routines, but still intense nonetheless. As far as deciding on your second Cathe tape to purchase I guess it depends what you want, cardio or strength, and exactly how "dodgy" your knee is. If you want a strength routine then Max. Intensity Strength is great, but it does include squats for leg work which may or may not bother your knee. If you want just upper body work, Cathe's CTX Upper Body Split is excellent! As far as cardio goes, Cardio Kicks is kickboxing with hi/lo flavor so may be too high impact for you. It also requires the most space of any of Cathe's workouts so may not be your best choice if you live in a small apartment. Circuit Max is super intense, and does contain some high impact floor aerobics. This tape routinely makes me feel nauseous it's so tough, but in a good way. How does Cathe compare to Christi?? For the most part Christi's style can be described as "dancey" while Cathe's as "athletic". I think Christi's videos have peppier music, but try as I might, I just cannot get Christi's choreography, it's way too complex for me. I ended up trading away all of my Christi tapes for that reason only. Now, some people love dancey, complicated choreography, I'm just not one of them. If you havent already checked out collagevideo.com check it out, they have video clips of Christi's tapes, however, collage does not carry Cathe videos. Hope that helps.

Hi Anna! Sorry, I am late welcoming you to Cathe's place. Isn't it great? Just thought I'd throw my .02 in also as far as beginner tapes. My suggestions would be the "Wedding" video and "MegaStepBlast". As was posted, you get cardio & strength work in the Wedding video and both this tape and MSB are great for beginners to get you accustomed to Cathe's style without too much choreo to overwhelm you. These are the two I started with and I have been known to have 2-left feet. I loved them when I first got them and thought there couldn't be any better. But trust me, before long, you will want every Cathe tape made. Each series she makes gets better& better! Just take it easy at first, progress at your own safe speed and get ready for oodles of FUN! Let us know what you decide and again, WELCOME! :7

Hi, Anna and Welcome!

I have to say that I think that Circuit Max is one of the toughest Cathe tapes there are, I still haven't gotten to the end of this vid and I'm wondering if I ever will (I've been working out with Cathe's videos since January and working out regularly for 5 years now). Although I do absolutely love it, it is very challenging and something that I am working up to. Also, Maximum Intensity Cardio is SUPER TOUGH and high impact. It contains hi/lo and step, and I also save this one for one of those days where I feel like climbing Mt. Everest.

I absolutely adore all of Cathe's tapes, and always know that I'm giving my all when I do one of them. So many times working out to another tape leaves me feeling that I didn't get all I could get out of my 1 hr. a day I invest in my exercise regime, but with Cathe, I know that that 1 hr. was spent the best way possible.

I would definitely recommend the Wedding Video, Step Heat, Mega Step Blast, Step Max and Step Jam -- these, IMHO, are the best beginner tapes and the ones I started out with and glad I did. I then went onto the CTX series and I cannot say how much versatility I get out of these. MIS is another favorite of mine for strength -- so complete and thorough and you know you've worked every muscle to the max.

Good luck!

Bernard

Can just add to all the other comments I don't do power scissors in Cathe's vids my knees won't take it I just do the scissors easier option she often features.

Can I add I have been doing Cathe's tapes for around 6 months and I am only now able to do plyo jacks and then I have to listen out for my left knee.

I knew you would get great advice here. Also Cathe's tapes a great to grew into they will keep you working for ages.

Just received my Karen Voight video 'Lean Legs and buns' this morning, and I can't wait to try it out tonight ! Still waiting for Energy Sprint though. Wish me Luck !!!!!!!!

Anna

Hi Babs,
Thanks for the Power scissors advice, I am glad that Cathe shows an easier option. Does Cathe quite often have one of her ladies behind doing an easier workout in the videos ?
Will you be pre-ordering Cathe's new workouts ? I think I will wait to see what the reviews are like on the forum first, though I do like the sound of the 2 videos featuring the stability ball. I ordered my stability ball from QVC UK and it is kind of gathering dust in a corner of my living room !

Anna

Hi Kaz,

I checked out the Canadian web site, and their prices are pretty good aren't they ? I don't know what the shipping costs are like yet ? I was pleased to see they sell Karen Voight's Green Genie balls for around £16.00 ! For 2 weighted medicine balls that is pretty good. I've seen one medicine ball from the internet in the UK for £16.00 !
I will definitely be checking the Canada web site, before ordering from Collage.

many thanks

Anna

Hi Bernard

Just got in and saw your new posts yes I have preordered the new tapes. I posted Cathe about stability balls I live in a 3 bedroomed semi so space is a problem what with my ever expanding library, so I won't be getting a stability ball. Cathe did say that she would show options without a ball.

Although she oftens shows you modifications there isn't always someone doing the options and some times I make up my own i.e. in IMAX the power lounges I do jumps and a high jog sort of rotation because I'm too scared to do power lunges. The high jog keeps my heart up in the right training zone.

I have to admit that I don't have any hesitation ordering Cathe's vids because I think she is so good at what she does. Also I like the fact that she is still teaching classes. She manages for me to give the right amount of information but she also remembers that you will be using the tapes over and over again. But do check out VF for reviews.

Hi Babs,

Help !!!!!!!!!!! Just had a look at my new Karen Voight video, which is NTSC, and it plays fine on my NTSC Playback VCR, but it is in black and white ? Can I fiddle around with the controls on the TV to get the picture in colour or am I stuck with a black and white screen ? Have you experienced this before ?

Anna

No I haven't sorry the only thing I can think of is looking at the tuning on the vid channel.

On my tv you can through the remote retune the channels you can check to see if it might not be on the right channel??

Thats all I can think of.

Babs

Other than that it might be worth contacting them and letting your supplier know. I have found that you don't have to return faulty vids just let them know and they will send you a replacement.

You never know you may not be the only one to have this problem.

Babs

Hi Babs,
I have worked out my video dilemma, my DH sorted it out. apparently I have to change the colour programme via the video remote, and I now have Karen Voight in glorious technicolour - thank goodness ! It was really hard to see their trainers in black and white !

Anna

Hi Everyone,
