Heavy Weight Whole Body Suggestions

I read the excellent article in last week's newsletter recommending using heavy weight. I have Slow and Heavy, which is a great workout. However, I really prefer full body workouts or at least total upper body so you can get it all in one workout. I was wondering which of Cathe's DVDs might be good to try heavy weights with. Thanks.

I second the STS TB as far as lifting heavy for full body. Muscle Max would be a good one too (going as heavy as possible), since both of those are full body w/o's but they also have premixes to split upper/lower body. Other than that Pyramid Upper is a total upper body w/o, plus there's a bonus full body premix on there for days you want to get it all done at once.

I've gotten to the point where I lift as heavy as possible for any straight weight workout. I just pause the vcr and take breaks, stretch, drink water, and then continue. It's working out well for me. I can see a lot more arm definition since I started doing that. I rarely use any of the circuits for muscle development and instead do a lot of the premixes. All the drill max cardio done twice is great. Another favorite is High Step Advanced-warm up, all 5 cardio, cardio and legs, and cooldown. I mix up legs a lot since I don't have a squat rack available. I just keep them toned and they never know what's coming!

I can go really heavy on Push Pull, because she uses opposing muscle groups which gives a good time for recovery of the body part. I also love that is uses the ball and it has a feel similar to STS in that regard. In other words, you are working a lot of stabilizer muscles in addition to the main muscle targeted. And its only about 45 minutes, with multiple premixes to mix it up. The rep count is about 12-15 for most instead of the usual 65 reps she throws at you in her other total body workouts. PP is my fave total body workout, with STS total body being a close second.

I forgot about PP until I reached for it today to do heavy legs. I did 3 sets lower body and am shaking! Another thumbs up for PP.

With STS Total Body, I am a little frustrated that she didn't have a separate tricep section. I know some is mixed in. I guess I could add some. I think I'll try this one tomorrow. Glad to know that the Pyramids have a total body premix. Thanks for that tip. I also like PP and will try upping the weights. I also like DM. All good suggestions. Thanks.
