Healthy Smoothie to enjoy in moderation ;-)

Hi Everyone,

I have come across a Dark chocolate smoothie recipe and could not resist to share!

Dark Chocolate in a Healthy Diet | FitnessRX for Women

The ingredient recommended for chocolate is 70% cocoa chocolate, which is the real chocolate IMO.

Personally I don't crave chocolate. I can live months without eating any chocolate. This smoothie could be a "not guilty cheat" Though ;-), considering it is consumed in moderation.

As quoted in the article dark chocolate with a minimum of 70% is not bad. This is an excellent news for those of who are aiming to keep blood sugar level at bay throughout the day ;-) This is something I need to incorporate in my kitchen staples.

I feel for you both ladies Fitmommy and Melagras.

I know what being a Diehard chocolate is. I was when I was a teenager:p:p:eek:
Now when I have chocolate, I loose appetite:D:). I call it my little cheat.
Really do not know what happened cause I use to binge:p on bars of 85% Belgian chocolate.

Try hard moderating portions:D

Hi Ladies,

Glad you like the recipe. I have tried it for two serving and it was delicious.:p
It is easy to do, I have added a tea spoon cinnamon to the recipe.

It does help in keeping cravings at bay:p:eek:;)

I went for the supreme dark chocolate from Lindt:p:cool:

Please let me how you found it, especially if you add your own healthy ingredients.

We make something similar at home - a lot. It's called a variation on the chocomonkey. My kids have it as an after school snack or on weekend afternoons. This is our recipe:

! banana (even better if its a ripe, frozen one)
2 heaping tablespoons of any baking or good quality cocoa
1 cup of almond milk (any milk will do)
tray of ice (6-12 cubes)
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
1 tablespoon peanut or almond butter

Toss all ingredients into a high powered blender e.g. vitamix and blend until smooth. Add more milk with caution as you don't want it to be too watery.

It makes 3 6-8 oz glasses. Sometimes, I sneak in a handful of baby carrots or spinach. The kids don't notice.

I just made the shake and it tastes really good. I didn't have any cacao nibs and Kroger didn't have any 70% cacao chocolate only 62%. I also used almond butter instead of peanut butter. It doesn't taste "icky" sweet which is what I like.

If I can find some cacao nibs this weekend, I'll let you know how it tastes.
