Have you seen this? Bush taking blame.

I would have also liked to have all the data about WMD's and lack of an Iraqi coherent insurgency BEFORE we committed our tax dollars and American lives to an overseas invasion!!!!

Michele, I agree. Plus, Mississippi was hit hard, too, yet they didn't experience the violence that NO did.

>Has anyone heard the info about Amtrak offering to ride people

>they didn't need any help like that? I heard it but haven't
>been able to resource it.

Yes, I saw that reported, too, in several places. Also, Fox News reported, and the Red Cross confirmed on their web site, that the Red Cross had pallets of food and water that they were ready to deliver to the Superdome and the Convention Center. The Louisiana department of homeland security (a state agency only--no ties at all to the federal agency) stopped the Red Cross from delivering the food and water (and one report I heard also said portable toilets) because the state said that it would only attract more people to those sites and they wanted to get people out.
The incompetence, lack of organization, and lack of a coherent state and local disaster plan in this is just stunning.

I am not a Bush fan but using the Harry Truman "the buck stops here" is very noble. His stock actually went up a few points IMHO. If he fixes the exposed problems then it will go up a lot.

OT warning

Global warming. Geologically speaking we are in the 4th interglacial period. The planet has warmed up and cooled down at least 4 times before. If humans weren't here it would do it on its own, the only question is are we speeding it up?

If the polar ice starts melting, the oceans will rise and most cities will be under water because most cities are on the ocean or other large body of water that is connected to an ocean. No government is prepared for it. Darwin's law Adapt, Migrate or Die comes to mind.
