Has anyone tried microdermabrasion?

Maximus

They did a story on it on the Early Show today & it looked interesting. Apparently there are kits you can use at home that are much cheaper than cosmetic surgeons & still pretty effective. So has anyone tried this? Was it a good experience? Did it do anything to/for fine lines? Looking for answers in my never ending quest to stay youthful............

A girlfriend of mine bought a L'Oreal kit and she loves it! She can tell a big difference in her skin already!!:) I am going to buy one too!!

Hi Maximus! If you truly want the best skin possible, go over & check out Skin Biology. I've suffered for over 20 years w/rosacea acne & it wasn't getting any better at 51 but getting much worse. In less than one week, my acne has completely dried up & disappeared & all the redness has diminished. I'm now planning on taking CP Night Eyes Premier cream for underneath my eyes to have the lines diminish too. CP stands for copper peptides. You can find copper peptides in Neutrogena and Nevona products but there only 1% whereas Skin Biology uses 6%. These products are serious stuff! HTH, Kathy:D

Serious Skin care from the Home Shopping Network is the mircodremabrasions that I use. They have a variety of ones for differnt ages. Like a C-Mirco for 40 and over skin. A glycolic one for any age range. Also I'm 32 but use the c-mirco because it will intermix with any of their skin lines plus any of the ones you are currenlty using. I love them and I use them about twice a month. I saw the early show on this topic this morining but have only used the ones from serious skin care. Karen. PS- I have fair sensitive skin and they have not irritated my skin in the least. Your skin really does feel a lot softer when you are done.

I use the at-home kits (the Susan Lucci thing, and a vitamin C exfoliator followed by a chemical that infuses the C into the skin from Serious Skin Care). The first time I used the vitamin C kit, I looked in the mirror and said "wow!"(and I don't say "wow!" very often!). It brightens the skin, seems to reduce light wrinkles (but I don't have many wrinkles anyway...jowls and deep marionette lines, yes, wrinkles, no). In fact, I think I'll do one right now!

I've been using Avon's for about 3 months. I could see a HUGE difference after about 2 months. I got one for everyone in my family, & they are starting to see results too.

As we say on Ebay, highly recommended! A+++

As they say on ebay, thanks for the positive feedback! ;-) Sounds like there's no downside so I think I'll give it a try.

Lately I've actually been using Keri lotion on my face--I put it on one day when I ran out of the expensive moisturizer & I cannot believe how soft my skin is. I was afraid it would clog my pores but so far my skin looks great. I think I'm gonna stick w/it. Maybe if I combine it w/the microdermabrasion I can look 25 again LOL.:+

Let me know if you look 25 again! You won't see anything but my smoke as I ZIP to the store for the Keri lotion! :p

Hi Ladies,

I tried the treatment at a skin care salon. I went because I was getting a couple of age spots on my cheeks, I had 3 treatments and the spots are gone. I now go in once a month for maintenance and I love it.

Josie

I haven't tried the home treatments but have done sessions at a salon. For me the issue is dry flaking winter skin and enlarged pores. Microdermabrasion made my skin baby-soft and I had no breakouts or even MINOR pimples for a couple of weeks after treatment.

I have had microdermabrasion several times. I get a facial about once a month from an esthetician that works in a dermatologists office. Once in a while I get the whole face done, monthly I get the nose and the cheeks done.

I haven't tried the kits you buy from the store yet.

The new science in skincare is hyaluronic acid, it improves skin's ability to retain water and makes skin firm. Prescriptives sells a product called Intensive Rebuilding Moisturizer. It is supposed to be awesome. A little pricey. I believe a lot of products are starting to contain hyaluronic acid. Another safe bet is retinol. You can't go wrong with retinol in decreasing fine lines.

Microdermabrasion can be pricey in a salon situation. I get an exceptional deal from my esthetician. I have been going for so long, I think she throws in the micro for free. For 60 bucks I get steamed, cleaned, extractions, lip and brow wax, electrolysis on chin for little annoying hairs, microdermabrasion, and hand treatment with heated gloves. The whole process can be like a torture session but it's worth it. Especially if you have sun damage and acne like me.

Hey Kathy, I went to the site but it is a bit overwhelming. How did you figure out what products to try? Did you call in and talk to someone?

I have always used good skin care, but I still seem to be getting lines that I am not thrilled about. The funny thing is that wrinkles don't really bother me, but there are a couple on my forehead that are driving me nuts. I also have a lot of sun damage in spite of sunscreen. A lifetime in the High Sierras will do that, and it would be nice to even out my skin tone.

More than anything I just want a product that works. Cost is not the issue if the product works. I just hate paying for something that doesn't.

I have been using the Dermanew microdermabrasion kit for a couple of years now. I use it once a week and I swear by it. Of course microdermabrasion is not for every type of skin. Most companies claim it is but it's not so you have to experiment to see what your skin can handle.
