Has anyone seen this before?

It looks more to me like something to use if you're using the step as a weight bench, like for comfort when doing bench presses. I wouldn't trust it to stay in place for a cardio workout.

For that price I would save my money and use a towel to cushion my back etc.

I thought the same thing too. It say for flexibility and toning so I assume that is when you are using it as a weight bench or when stretching on it. I guess it would be good for your back so you aren't laying on the hard bench and getting it all sweaty.

Each mat individually is pretty cheap ($5 - $11). I think you guys are looking at the "case" price, which includes 15 or 16 mats.

These mats remind me of the light blue ones that Cathe and crew sometimes use on the floor. If I ever saw them in my local fitness store, I'd buy one.

OK, duh Laura.

Hmmm now it's got me thinking of the possibility of a step w/more cushioning, like under the rubber traction part. I think it'd be really cool.......are there any patent lawyers out there? :p

>No kidding--after looking at the price I'm thinking my knees
>just aren't worth it.......

You must be looking at the case price Laura! The most expensive one is only $12!

I use a throw rug across my step for laying (lying?) on it for weight work, or seated strength/weight work.

I have a similar one, but with cut-outs where the arms are (it's used when you lie on the bench, not for stepping!). I couldn't like down on my step comfortably without it. I got mine from Karen Voigt's site (she uses it in some of her earlier workouts).

You must be looking at the case price. Single mats are only $4.95 to 11.95, depending on thickness.

I think those look cool, but I just use a folded towels on mine. I fold them long ways and lay them over my bench.

I have one of the triple layer (blue white blue) ones. I've had it for years and really like it. In fact, I bought it at fwonline.

I use it on the step when I'm lying on it for weight work or sitting on it for anything. It's great on the back, and even on the hands when doing something like tricep dips.

It's also my sit up and floor work mat.

I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of this one!

I'm with you, Laura - it would be great to have a cushion similar to this that you could put under the rubber traction part of your step to protect your knees. Would someone here please invent this?:)
