Hardcore Rotation Checkin Thursday June 16

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did Pure Strength Legs & Abs for the first time. I didn't know what weights to use so it was a bit frustrating. I must say it was a pretty tough workout (especially the sit and stands - can't believe Cathe's legs were actually shaking). Oh, and I almost forgot, I really liked some of the music on this. Are there any of her older DVDs that she has similar music on? I have avoided the older tapes cuz I hate some of the music on them, but this one was different.

Sabrina - don't be discouraged. When I first discovered Cathe ....I never did complicated step before. I avoided the complicated ones because I never did the same workout that often. Anyway, I, too, was horrible at Cathe's step at first, and I still have some difficulty picking up the steps in Imax 3 with all of those reverese mambo's, etc. I still can't even figure out some of them (and maybe I never will), but I've gotten better since February.....so if there's hope for me...I'm sure you'll surprise yourself soon.

Diana Sue - thanks for being able to relate....not exactly good to hear that it could take months, but at least I know I'm not alone. Do you think I could have done this from being not properly warmed up?

Nicole - Yes, I don't really need to lose too much weight...but I need to flatten my lower abs and really lean out my legs and hips and I'd like to get some good definition in my legs and abs, as well as build some muscle on my upper body. I don't want too much, huh? Any woman who says she won't lift weights cuz she doesn't want to bulk up has no idea how hard it actually is to build muscle!!

Yes Lora I know what you mean. When I was doing Bootcamp the other day I thought if this does not work that belly area and butt I don't know what will???? I don't know if it's just me, but since I have gotten my rebounder I have noticed my belly flatten more??? When bouncing I really conscentrate on bouncing downward, and feel it in my core whole time while I bounce.

Today is another bootcamp day!!! :D

Today I did Gym-Style Legs because I don't have Pure Strength. I didn't do all of the floor work, but I did some of it. I may try to take a short run at lunch. I also have class tonight, but it's an interval class.

Nicole...That's pretty interesting that you feel that your belly has gotten flatter with the rebounder. I'm going to look into these things one day. Also, I love Bootcamp but haven't done it in a while. Looks like it's coming up in week 4 of the June rotation...can't wait.

Lora...I constantly think of you and the pain you are in right now. I see you posting with various workout questions...I have quite a bit of experience, but I just don't always have to time to post detail explanations and plus, by the time I get out there, quite a few people have already responded. I'm here if you need further clarification on anything.

good morning all!
today's workout: did a 45min aerobic class at the gym followed by 5mins of each: TM walking (incline), TM running, ET, and the bike. Last night I did 30mins walk/run in addition to my CTX shoulders and lisa's advance cardio blast!!

Tonight I want to add some leg work and a 30min walk/run again.

Nicole. Thanks for filling me on your bootcamp rotation. I'll see if I can find that rotation.

Sabrina: your post made me laugh about IMAX3. I can see you sitting there watching the moves. There is a website that has all the moves that are done on the steps by instructors. I'll see if I can dig it up and post it. Maybe that will help you w/ the moves. Other than that...just practice, practice, and more practice. I guess it took me like 4 or 5x of just doing the same tape over and over in order for me to get the choreography!

lora, Diana Sue, gloria-thanks for the support. I hope I can get the steps down sometime soon. I have enough trouble with the basic steps! LOL! My DH came in from his workout and seen me sitting on the step and asked what I was doing. I told him I was getting more confused by the minute and watching Cathe getting more tired by the second. Hehehe. Thanks for the website Gloria, I will check it out later when I have some more time.

Later I am to do Leaner Legs, 20 minutes ab hits, and a flexibility workout of choice. What are some good choices? I am not sure what to do.:)

Is there a difference between a flexibility workout and a stretch workout? Cathe has listed them both in the June rotation. I am figuring there is a differnce but not sure what it is.
 
I don't think so, but I assume if you had any yoga stretching tapes that you like, you could do that, as long as it's mostly yoga stretches and not a lot of power work, sun salutations, etc.
 
Hi everyone,
Todays workout was KPC stopping at the stretch, Tough core, MM core, GS biceps and triceps and stretch. I didn't do the Pyramid lower today like in Cathe's rotation because I felt some tenderness in my low back this morning.Doing Pyramid lower usually aggravates it when it hurts already, especially all of those deadlifts. I try to keep those at once a week.

Lora, if you're like me you could have just turned it wrong working out. I often do things to myself and don't notice it till later. I do usually do my cardio first though so all of my muscles are warmed up and ready. I know some don't advocate that, but it works for me.
