Cathlete
Morning Ladies -

This morning I did Kelly Coffey Complete Cardio Sculpt. I did the weight segments twice and the workout was about 1 hour. It was a good workout and I really enjoyed it.

If I ever was going to recommend one DVD to my Cathe Forum Friends....this would be it. This instructor has the kind of demeanor that Cathe has. She is very professional and makes no annoying comments. She reminds me very much of Cathe. I didn't realize when I did the DVD that if you just play the workout...it is a circuit workout. I used the chapters she had under workout options and did all of my weight work together (double) and then the cardio at the end. I think the next time I will do the DVD as it is set up and just add extra segments depending on what I'm concentrating on that day, i.e., weights or cardio. Her cardio is sort of like Cathe's in that she does a lot of plyo's and impact. I also (very briefly) previewed Get Ready, Step, Go (the step DVD I bought) and it looks very good also. I never heard of her before, but I can't believe how much I like her.

Also...as far as the actual workout itself, it would compliment Cathe's traditional weight work perfectly, as she used some functional moves (like wood chops standing with a heavier dumbbell) and a unique section for the lats that was a lot different than Cathe's traditional back rows, etc.

Have great workouts everyone. I'm in a hurry, as I'm going in to work the early shift. My boss is away and I told a little white lie and said I needed to work the early shift today.

I just got to work and realized I forgot to mention this. I got my mini xerball last night (5#) and it feels a bit heavier than my larger 5 # med ball. I'm a little nervous now! I have a 4# one on the way and if it feels too heavy, I may order a 3# one! LOL! I hope everyone doesn't get mad at me ....since I told everyone 3 wasn't heavy enough. It must be because it's smaller ....all of the weight feels more concentrated.......that's the only reason I can think of!

Sorry for the triple post, but I have another question. I wanted to post it earlier, but it's not a really positive thing to say about someone, so I'm not sure I should post it....but it's bothering me.

In regards to this question, I'm not talking about Kelly Coffey or Cathe.....but I want to know what you ladies think of an instructor that has a "little belly bulge" and is a little "meatier" than the instructors your used to seeing and doing? I usually feel inspired by flat abs and toned physiques and don't know how I feel about the previous. I don't know if I'm being "totally out of line" here in asking this....but I guess since none of us are perfect....it's just that I'm used to seeing most instructors in awesome shape.

Good Morning ladies!

How is everyone? It's been so busy around here. We were gone most of the day yesterday, so I didn't get to post. We only have three more days off from school. :-(

Yesterday I did S&H back plus 3 sets of lat pulldowns, GSL floorwork, BC abs and stretch. Today I did CTX kickbox + KPC lo/high drills, Firm It Up w/the toe weights. I listened to my iPod while doing FIU, it made for a much nicer workout. :p I googled Debbie Sieber's name and she has a website that's supposed to be on-line this month.

Did any of you see Cheaper By the Dozen 2? My kids were laughing so hard. It was a good movie, but not as good as the first one. I cried at the end. DH was making fun of me...in a good way. :)

Lora ~ You know I never really worked out to an instructor who wasn't in shape. I guess I can see what you mean. However, I used to take step from this one girl who was a bit over weight back in the 80's and she could really kick some butt. So, if you like the workout maybe it shouldn't matter. You know?:)

I'll go check the other thread to see what I missed. We're taking the kids to the Bulls game tonight. I can't wait!

Hi to all who follow!

Dallas

ETA: Just checked the other check-in....Nicole, how are you feeling? Sorry you have the flu? Sabrina, I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Terri, that 1st link Nicole posted is exactly what's in the SS book. Thanks Nicole! Susan, glad you're back. Diane Sue, glad you're feeling better now. Hi Marietta!:)

Lora-I feel that way sometimes when I see a not so fit looking instructor. I usually can get past it quickly if the person has good form and good cueing. I always need to remind myself fitness comes from the inside out :) Do you know what I mean? Thanks for the Kelley review! Where did you order that from?

Ok everyone I need help on making a decision. To order the TLT's or not :) I know what Nicole will say :) I keep going back and forth on this. I want them but I already have so many workouts with cathe and the SS. So someone HELP ME :)

I will do cardio from the cathe rotation today and A SS workout. Nicole which one are you doing today? By the way I hope you are feeling better! Also thanks for the SS links on rotations.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Terri

Hello,

This morning I did GS Chest and Triceps.

Early this morning I watched the previews of TLT's new workouts. I wrote down what the instructor says in the beginning of what type of workout it is. Needless to say, right now I'm clueless how to incorporate these into a rotation. Maybe just do them for two weeks at a time, then move back to Cathe's weights. I might just alternate a TLT with a Cathe cardio.
Thanks Lora....I have a four pound xerball on the way too! I think it will be fine. I almost did get a three pound one.
Do you have a link to the workout(s) by Kelly Coffey?
Now, about the "belly bulge"...I personally would be turned off by anything an instructor put out if she had it. I remember there were instructors at a gym I had a membership to who were fat. I don't care how much you can lift or how far you can run, your fat. I would never take their advice either. I know no one is perfect, but if I were filming workouts for a living I'd at least have it sucked out me if I couldn't do it on my own.

Looks like we were posting at the same time. Dallas and Terri, you're right as far as if you are getting a good workout, it shouldn't matter what the instructor looks like. But, I personally wouldn't have as much motivation. Seeing Cathe in the Hardcore's is encouraging to me to lift heavier. Am I making sense?

Terri, I too have all of Cathe's DVD's. I did order Tracies new workouts since they are "functional fitness" which is nothing like one of Cathe's workouts. I believe with the variety of these will actually make my Cathe workouts better.

Nicole, how are you feeling today? It's awful when your (anyone) gets that sick. :-(

Sabrina, how are you doing? When you're not sleeping well, on top of having stress, it's NOT a good mix. Let us know how the new job is going. Have you started yet?

LOL! Susan, you crack me up!! Ewww, that image is in my mind now!! I can't even watch a preview for those plastic surgery shows. My dd is just like me too.

HAHAHA!! I'm completely FACINATED by them! I have watched a lot of surgeries, and by far, plastic surgery is the most interesting. Have you ever seen a face lift? Oh my! I'd love to tell you what they do and how it looks, but I'll refrain if it grosses you out. My husband can't watch them either.

I DO understand. :)

OK, Miss Susan rotation maker-uper...how can we incorporate SS, TLT and Cathe all in one week?! j/k I'm currently trying to incorporate SS and Cathe with the rotation that I'm following. I do think that the SS is on the freestyle side which I want to give an honest try for another 2 weeks (that will be a full month then). Now upper body, I have to stick with Cathe.:)

Dallas

Yes, thanks for refraining. You know I can watch ER & CSI and be OK most of the time. Maybe because I know it's fake?

Dallas

Good morning!!

Sorry I've been away so long...when I'm off work I become computer illiterate!!

Got in some really good workouts over the last few days...I'll just recap the past couple days.

Yesterday, I did Cathe's Advanced treadmill workout exactly as written and then I added on at the end (total distance 7.25 miles). After that I did CTX step and Intervals followed by a chest workout.

This morning I did the Extended verion of Low-Max...so between each cycle I did the following:

cycle 1&2 - 20 squats and 20 Plie squats
cycle 3 - 20 Leg presses on Leg press machine, 16 Lying leg curls
cycle 4 - 2 sets of 16 static lunges/side
cycle 5 - Same as cycle 3
cycle 6 - Same as cycle 4

I'm pretty sure I'll be running at lunch today...maybe throw in a little back work.

Lora - That workout sounds very interesting...please give us some information on where to find it. I can understand how important it is for an instructor to be fit in order to be motivated by them. Sometimes we don't know all the circumstances so I try not to let it get to me as long as they are providing me with a kick-butt workout. Everybody is different in what they look for in an instructor and I can respect that.

Dallas - my DD10 saw cheaper by the dozen and she is already asking for the DVD when it become available. She saw it with her cousin and loved it. Good workouts by the way...what else is goin on with you?

Terri - I can't wait to see what you decide on the new workouts you are considering...I don't think I can do it...at least not now anyway. How are things with you? Do you have to hire a new person now or have you done that already?

Susan - Hi there!! Still crankin out the workouts I see...keep on showin em what you're workin with!!

Nicole - I'll have to go back to the previous days posts to catch up, but I did see that you weren't feeling well. Hope you're better real soon!!

Hi Diane Sue and Sabrina!!

I'll be back later...

The website is Coffeyfit.com. I can't wait to do the step one tomorrow.

As far as the instructor I'm talking about....I guess everyone will know who I'm talking about when I do her DVD over the next few days. I previewed her step video on Collage and I wasn't sure if I would be able to learn the coreography, so I refrained...but someone on VF said the coreography was really fun and unique and they loved it, so I ordered it. I figured I could sell it if I can't learn it. I previewed (sort of different though)...I'm not quite sure what it will be like when I actually do it. She uses tubing for some of it and I don't really like tubing. I can't rememeber if it had ab exercises in it or not (can't remember), but if it does .....I wonder if they're any good? LOL!!!! just kidding!!

Terri - I think you NEED the TLT's....functional fitness is very important these days! You need to do some different types of movements than Cathe's stuff 100% of the time. (enabler!! my bad!)

Nicole & Sabrina - Hope you're feeling better soon.

ETA: maybe the instructor will look better in the step video ....maybe it's the outfit she has on or something.

Hello Everyone,
WOW you have been busy here today!!:D I woke up this am. and set my alarm clock for a hour later (bad me) Now I am just digesting my lunch, and I am going to go and do cardio and weights, and than later on do Firm it up standing section.

Dallas I posted yesterday that I am going to mix my TLT's like this.

Tlt in am. and then SS standing for 30 min. in afternoon or evening.
Tlt in am and then SS floor for 30 min. in afternoon or evening.

Susan if you have a better idea of how to do a rotation with these. I would love to see what you can come up with!! HINT HINT }( You do such a good job with rotations!!

Yes I am feeling a little better today thanks for asking:D

As you know I am working on getting organized this year:D Well instead of doing EVERYTHING myself I have got the kids pitching in!!!(and ya know I am finding out it is a big help!!) I put up a chore chart, and I let them choose 4 chores daily, and then when they complete the chore they put up a star!! They really love getting those stars!! Wish I would have done this sooner:+ (I checked out a whole bunch of books from the library and "Mrscleanjeans' housekeeping with kids by Tara Aronson was very helpful)

Lora as far as the tummy thing that would not bother me a bit. At least she is real;-) I remember someone asked Gin Miller a *BIG
BUTT* question, and Gin replied if your going to have a *BIG* butt have a *GREAT* *BIGBUTT* ........:7 I liked that :D

Marietta glad to have you back:D My DD12 went to Cheaper by the dozen to and really liked it!!

Dallas did you ever find your doughnut weights??? Hey I am happy you liked working out to Debbie Siebers with your ipod, but nothing beats muting her and listening to a good book on tape.

Terri what sold me on the TLT's is that one of my ya ya sister's posted that she has to go to physical thearapy, and the moves in the TLT's are what she has been doing. Also Tracie really focus's on Functional fitness, and I think Jac (she works with Tracie) is a physical thearapist? Now did that sell ya on them}( I am sorry for being such a bad influence on you:-( ........NOT:7

Hey Sabrina , and Diane Sue:D

~Nicole

According to ups I am suppose to get my TLT's tomorrow??? Have any of you gotten yours yet?? I have both a 3lb and 4lb 4inch weighted ball, and today I went and got paper plates!!

Nicole -- you reminded me about paper plates. I hope I still have mine that I use to to the TLPs with. I keep it out with my dumbbells in the living room and one day my hubby asked me what it was for with a puzzled look on his face. LOL...he knows it's not for cooking purposes.

Also, yes....that's why I need to do functional fitness...because of my injury. However, there are some things that my doctor won't allow me to do (like the plank work). I like that it works the smaller stabilizer muscles to help prevent injury from traditional weight work. It makes good sense.

By the way ladies - I just remembered that the Step Coffey workout is on the Collage site. Her full name is Kelly Coffey-Meyer. I think you could even preview it there (as I know her website hardly says anything about them).

Ok Ladies I am one step closer to rdering the dvd's :) My Jollie weights come this week as well. I think I am an addict :)

Marietta-I did hire a new person to replace the one I had to let go. Sad but was a long time in coming.
Yeah find me a way to incorporate all these dvd's into a rotation :) Dallas I too need cathe for upper body. I now know that freestyle is the way to go for lower!

Terri

Ok ladies, I know you have said before but where are you all getting those jollie weights? You all have mentioned them so maybe I should get some too!! LOL! Nothing like shopping when things are not going well. Any workouts that I should buy???

I have my first office meeting tomorrow to meet all the realtors at the office. I have met some but not all of them. I then have to work after the meeting for 4 hours. Hope for a walk-in or a call-in since I am on duty!!! LOL!

Have a good day ladies! I will try to be back later. :)

Good afternoon
I got up early today and did a 5.5 mi. treadmill run,GSChest stopping after the 1st bench press segment and doing 2 sets on the Bowfllex, then after the incline flys I did 2 sets on the Bowflex, I followed with 100 resisted crunches and 50 each side resisted oblique twists on the Bowflex, then I did CM#1 with shoe weights and dumbbells St.
I had my daughter in law and grandchildren here most of the day and a plumber come by so got my workout in early. School starts back tomorrow. I am still having problems with my Cable modem after I called them out. My internet connection is intermittent.
